I play Rider of Icarus, Star wars old republic, Diablo immortal on the Ally and it always runs above 60 fps at 720p. The temperature is around 70-80 c. It's also great for clound gaming if you subcribe gamepass, the latency is not terrible. $699 for this handheld is definately worth it. If you have Best Buy store card, they'll give you 0% interest financing for 12 months.

    Joystick Issues

I ordered online and received it today via UPS. The device looks amazing and is surprisingly light weight. The armor crate software isn't the most intuitive but I like that it will combine my game libraries. I have this attached to a USB-C docking station and connected to my TV. So you can use it as a hand held or as a small gaming console. All looking promising but after I gave the device a brief spin I had to exchange it due to issues with the joysticks. Left stick would only scroll up and down and not right to left. I didn't realize this until later in the day because I did all my setup with keyboard and mouse. I launched Diablo 4 and realized I couldn't move my character. If I went to bios the mouse cursor in bios would immediately scroll off screen and I couldn't control the cursor. Luckily I was able to get to best buy before they closed for the day and was able to do an exchange. Working on setup again, but did verify that the joysticks are working. I'm hoping the bios update i installed earlier in the day wasn't the culprit

This handeld pc is a beast. All of the games that i played ran smoothly: COD, fifa, gears 5 etc. you just have to tweak certain settings to get the best out of it. Definitely recommend if you don’t get a lot of time to play console games, since you can play whatever you want, anywhere. Battery life sucks on it but i mainly play plugged in, so always near an outlet.

For a $400 open box, can’t complain too much. The only downside is battery. Only can last for about an hour on battery.

A couple months in and so far no complaints other than battery life, but as long as you have a power source nearby, which most vehicles and anywhere you travel do it works great! One thing I wish it had was a front facing camera for facial recognition login but that's not a necessity. Great quality mic if you are using discord while playing as well as great speakers.

I bought the ally because i was looking for a windows handheld and honestly its it all the boxes. The battery life is not the best but the convenience and portability is why i love it. Ive recently bought a portability charger for it i play it everyday when i dont want to be at my desk.

Love my mobile gaming and the fact I can take my games that are more offline based with me and not have to lug around a big laptop for less. Also cool it plays COD without much issues. No issues even after many updates. Definitely recommend getting an sad card or expanding the storage when you can.

Other than a few small issues with the Asus Rog Ally like the sd card becoming unusable and freezing now and again, its everything i thought it would be. Plays smooth. Handles graphic intensive games with ease. Its a winner in my book.

    Great Handheld Gaming PC

So far this little PC is fantastic. I bought it so I could have more gaming ability since my daughter was born a few months ago and it's done exactly what I need it to. Like everything, there are pros and cons. For the Pros: it feels good in the hands and is easy to hold and play for an hour or more, it's a fully functioning PC so you can use every PC gaming platform there is, and once you get the hang of the ASUS overlays, they are pretty useful. The Cons: battery life is not great as you only get 1-1.5 hours with a modern game, it can be finicky about resuming from Sleep mode, and you'll need a dock or adapters to plug in a monitor that doesn't use USB-C. Overall, I've loved this device.

Was not sure about this purchase being that I own a steamdeck, but wow, this thing rocks! Lighter, smaller and more powerful. The windows experience is more to my liking than Linux, and the user interface is more my speed. Only downside is that cases and other assessories are hard to come by.

I am in love with my Asus Rog, I love the fact that I have to sit at my computer when I want to cozy up on my sofa and play my cozy games. I love the portability this offers. I did have some issues with the first purchase so I took it back to bestbuy and they swapped it out for me. I havent had any issues since. My con to this is the battery life, I wish it was longer.

Battery life at max wattage is an hour max. Prepare to be plugged in. Works wonderfully for its intention. This product is a handheld laptop that compromises FPS for mobility. Best option around for anyone already heavily invested into handheld gaming

It's a windows handheld for better and for worse. There are a few bugs in the software still BUT they are worth putting up with. The device continually surprises me with the performance it can pull off. The battery life isn't fantastic but I find it's just enough for my use case.

Ton of potential but really just not refined enough at all for a release should have been delayed.i understand that it will take time for game optimization and launchers to update to function properly but Jesus this thing is just a buggy disaster even with basic functions within armory crate and windows itself they did a terrible job software wise getting this ready for users. It’s been hours of updates and restarts buttons not working having to reset and update to get core functionality back, not to mention brand new $700 handheld and the RB is flat pressed in s d barely clicks just not on par with the steam deck when it comes to support and being ready for users. Sad because when you get it going it outperformed it in every title. Will give it another week and if not forward progress it’s going back to Best Buy.

    The Best Handheld

Forget the Legion Go, no VRR, terrible speakers, and over gimmicky. It's also heavy. I literally had to put the speakers up to my ear to barely hear dialogue on Netflix. The Ally is the best you can get. Same specks and a lot smoother gameplay. Better software, and the 1080 is better. The higher rez on the Go actually does it a disservice. When down rezed because that's what the specs can actually handle, it looks worse than the Ally. I've tried both. I'm also a big Asus fan and have an M16 laptop. I'm very happy with this device. I will say this though, in order to play 1080p how I want to, these devices still need better specs. If you're willing to wait for a 2nd generation version, that device might actually be perfect if they improve the battery as well. The reach from the right stick to the top face button is a little long, they could make that better. The speakers are excellent on the Ally. I got the perfect grip which is a Skull & Co grip case so the ergonomics are perfect. I play mor on this little thing than my laptop which pushes 1600p on very high or ultra settings.

It's an awesome handheld but the battery life was a dealbreaker for me. I already have a high end gaming pc so having it docked really has no benefit to me. But It runs most games very smooth at low to medium settings. If your a person who has experience with pc gaming and windows pc's in general, you should be fine setting up the device. But I can see why some people had trouble with the setup. If its your first time turning it on you'll probably be setting up windows and updating drivers for about an hour before you'll be able to start downloading and playing games. So if you don't care about the battery life get it. But for me its a no go.

      Dear Jurocket,

We're sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience you're having with the unit battery life. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 11 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps will cause the battery to drain quickly. We do value our customers and take negative customer service experience very seriously.
If you should have any other concerns or feedback feel free to reach out to us at customerloyalty@asus.com. We'll be happy to provide a quick resolution to your case. Please refer to this case number (N2306022696-0017) for us to better assist you.
