Satisfied but would get a gaming laptop or PC.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A decent handheld, I can play GTA 4 and 5 with RagePluginHook/with Mods, Hogwarts Legacy, WarHammer Space Marine 2, any Assassin’s Creed, Red Dead 2, etc. You get my point, only complaint is the battery, if its going to be advertised as something portable or “on the run” it should have that battery for that duration of use, it’s more about honesty because it is a handheld at the end of the day and I never had any strong expectations for the battery.

Excellent Device
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent device. I wanted a handheld device that is powerful, quiet, and has a great screen. The ROG Ally checks all the boxes. I can casually game in pretty much any environment and do not have to worry about the fans getting obnoxiously loud. If you set yourself up with realistic expectations, this device is great. With that being said, don’t expect to be able to play on battery for several hours at a time and don’t expect a console like software experience. Running a AAA game on battery in a handheld device with a 7 inch screen on low to medium settings is pretty impressive for the technology that’s available today. Even if it’s only for an hour or two. Also it’s a windows machine so you will need to download your gaming platforms manually and setup like a windows device, but that should be expected.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was a bit confusing at first for us, but once we got used to it, my son has loved it for gaming. We bought it as a travel Xbox for him.

Excellent entry to the portable gaming market

It runs Windows 11 and all of my EA, Steam, and other games with ease. If you are looking for an ultra compact gaming platform that checks all the boxes, then order this today!

The perfect laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its daily use with jobs, applications or videos works well for Windows 11, I recommend having a keyboard, mouse, and a monitor for more comfortable use. Only with games: It works perfectly, although the battery issue becomes a limitation, but when connected to the charger it can be used quite well.

Be sure to have spare time and patience.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my Ally, I enjoy the work needed to make this device suit me. I understand it is not plug and play for most things. Great machine, lots to do and fine tune. Lots to learn and tinker with. Runs my emulators easily and runs Diablo. Cons are the battery life, its not necessarily bad. I get about an hour ad a half playing Fallout New Vegas on High settings and in performance mode. For me that's about the time I have to play a game usually uninterrupted so this works. There aren't many accessories, it is a guessing game with 3rd party cases at the moment. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys the project of setting up a device and satisfaction of learning through trial and error. I wouldn't recommend it to someone coming from a home console expecting a similar experience.

Best steam deck alternative
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This does everything the steam deck can do and more due to it being full windows 11, game performance has been great. The only problem is the horrible battery life, be prepared to carry a battery pack or just stay close to an outlet.

A good handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At its price point it can play most PC game good at 1080p. But even when the frames dropped it wasn't a bad experience because there was no screen tearing or skipping. AMD did a good job with this one.

Great Portable PC
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great handheld device, was deciding between this and the steam deck. Glad I went with the Ally, I prefer the versatility versus being confined to steam games only. With the ally, you're able to use different launchers such as xbox games, EA, and ubisoft to name a few. Of course, since it does run Windows 11 the Ally does support Steam as well. Also appreciate being able to add memory with a micro SD card since the Ally only comes with 500GB and games nowadays can take up more than 50GB per install. Only issue is battery life but that's expected due to the power draw of trying to run the latest games. If you're looking to play more than an hour on battery then this may not be the right fit. I don't mind it since I'm usually near an outlet but I could see how it can be annoying since it defeats the purpose of it being portable.

A good alternative to the Steam Deck
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I am really enjoying my Asus Rog Ally extreme but it's not perfect. Pros : - Runs games I play such as Fortnite because it includes Windows 11. - Driver support is very good out of the box because it includes Windows 11. - If you get the optional charger/dock, the Ally doubles as a portable PC. Cons : - The Ally uses Windows tablet/touch mode which can range from annoying to infuriating. In some cases you need an external keyboard to set things up due to the virtual keyboard. - Battery life is bad. Don't expect to get more than an hour and a half of playing something like Fornite with it on just the battery.

It is very suitable for me.
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like to use it to play some steam games, you can lie down to play, play while waiting, and can also connect to the TV, watching movies and playing games are very good.

Fun and flexible gaming
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very capable and fun gaming machine. It's easy to navigate and use and downloading games is easy. The battery life is fairly short so I typically have to plug it in and occasionally it freezes and I can't exit a game without force closing it but it's a Windows machine so that was expected.

Great Experience! Awesome Handheld!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been really impressed with this handheld. I've thrown a lot at it and barely had any issues. Once you tweak the settings a bit, it'll run anything like a beast. I tend to keep it plugged in since I'm not a huge traveller, so it substitutes my gaming PC when I'm too lazy to get my butt out of bed. Asus' support seems to be neverending. They seem passionate about pushing this product and I'm glad to see a company supporting something so heavily. I immediately upgraded my SSD because 512gb is hardly enough, i do wish they would've went the same route as Valve or Lenovo with offering higher memory options, but the process of upgrading is so easy it kind of doesn't matter. (Unless you're a real stickler about it.) I was skeptical at first, being my first handheld and all. But I don't regret this purchase at all. Great job Asus!

Easy to use, powerful enough depending on games
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a gift for my little brother, (10) he’s not super familiar with windows but he hasn’t run into any issues yet, had to explain all the areas that he needs to check for updates but other than that it’s really not that difficult. Have not installed any other OS because he uses game pass and it’s nice having every game available to play. Only minor issue is battery, can only play about an hour but for someone young that’s a good thing

Amazing piece of software
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a steam deck and want the ally, it would be like upgrading from a gtx 1660 to an rtx 3050 ti. The jump in fps is mind boggling. Beamng runs monster trucks at around a solid 50 fps on any map, bo3 gets around 70/80 on everything maxed, modern warfare 2019 gets 60 fps on high settings and spider man remastered gets 30/40 fps on high settings and because it’s amd, the graphics chip hasn’t even reached its full potential and is nowhere near reaching its full potential as the device is so new. After lots of updates, it will be able to run pretty much anything you throw at it. Very good device and have been absolutely loving it so far.

Great pc handheld
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the fact that I can play almost all my PC games on this handheld console. The graphics are nice looking, sound is great. I already have a MSI gaming laptop which the games look and play great on. But the difference between this is that I can play my PC games on the go. There are some tweaks you have to do with settings to play the games. But that’s not too hard. Since this has windows 11, there will always be updates you have to install like a regular PC. Once its up and running, the games play great. I think this item is overpriced at $699.99. I had to return it since it did not make any sense to keep it since I have a killer gaming laptop. But if the price would be at $599.99 then I would buy it. If you don’t have a gaming PC, then you should definitely buy it.

Worth the price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great piece of tech. Have been using this to play some newer games i've missed since getting rid of my PC. Was able to run most modern games at 60 fps with some quick adjustment to the settings. Battery life leaves a lot to be desired but thats to be expected for what this handheld is doing.
