Good but battery performance
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is amazing, runs all the games with little to no trouble, could work on the battery life but it’s first of its kind, looking forward to future models with improved battery performance

Where's the ROG XG Mobile suggestions
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to a steam deck, it is noticeably smaller and lighter which minimizes fatigue to the wrists. The faster refresh rate on the small screen seems to ease the strain of focusing your eyes on fast moving scenes. I was not offered to purchase an ROG XG Mobile eGPU Dock which bothered me somewhat at the time as the prices for them on ASUS website was not the same as in store. It can be a very vital component in the productive use of this handheld and essentially unlocks the potential of the device as both a powerful 8 core 16 thread DDR5 computational machine and a portable home entertainment device which can fully utilize the high refresh rates of modern televisions. My ROG Ally will completely replace my entire home desktop and have a smaller footprint as well as use less electricity overtime with just the addition of an ASUS - ROG XG Mobile eGPU Dock - AMD Radeon RX 6850 XT in particular which has the HDMI 2.1 so that i would be able to run an LG C2 at 120Hz, and also a QHD monitor via display port

Handhelds are heading the right direction
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You get what you pay for, a $700 low/mid range PC with a great screen and not great battery life. There's potential for handhelds to go somewhere, but it may take bit before we get there.

Great Device. Little difficult to navigate windows
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a steam deck before I purchased the Rog Ally Z1 Extreme. The device and game performance is 5 star but Windows is a little difficult to navigate (especially with the automatic mouse mode not working properly). The Armory Crate software has been getting better but still not as easy as SteamOS is for the steam deck. Once Asus releases AFMF drivers, the Rog Ally Z1 Extreme should be an absolutely amazing machine (AMD's version of Nvidia Frame Generation). I did have a MicroSD card die, but that may be because it was a low quality drive. Testing with a high quality Sandisk and has been fine.

Travelling Gamers rejoice!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent for gamers on the go a lot. Very impressed with how well it ran games of different genres. The console is very comfortable to hold. The only real mild complaint I have is that the battery life. Depending on the game and settings the battery can drain somewhat quickly.

Worth the hassle
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The beauty of a steam deck is that it just works. The Ally, being based around a Windows OS, means that day to day use comes with more bugs and quirks, but overall its worth the added effort to have the flexibility. The extra processor power with rhe extreme chip doesn't just feel like an upgrade, it's borderline required for a good experience. I wouldn't recommend going with the slower processor, even if it costs you battery life. When it's working well the ROG Armoury is a fine games launcher, but sometimes it's easier to just open Steam or Epic. Where the system loses points for me is the mechanics of using Windows. The touchscreen is a saving grace of the system as it the windows experience does not translate to joysticks. If Asus could reslly focus on getting this part of the system right, it would be the clear best gaming handheld. But it's still worth the hassle.

It's pretty decent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ally is pretty decent. There are some bizarre QA issues and running Windows occasionally dictates doing a random restart to get things working again, but I can't complain too much. Battery life is laughably bad, making launch day Switch seem like a top tier battery. Most games just work though, and it has enough power in the highest W profile mode to run a lot of fairly demanding games at low settings. Your mileage will vary here, though, depending on what your expectations are. If you have no PC and prefer this form factor, it's a good purchase. If you have a laptop, PC, or Steam Deck, it's hard to recommend.

Great Device!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are familiar with using Windows OS then you should not have any problems using this device. Powerful handheld device and works great on the go. That said, be sure to bring a power brick with you as the battery life on this device suffers, which is expected due to the form factor.

Superb handheld device.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty much runs everything I throw at it. I got it when it was on sale for 500$. Worth the purchase. Bought myself an 2230 2tb (130$) and a mod case (32$) (for extra cooling). The battery is the only issue, before you know it you need to charge (time flies when you enjoy something). But with the extra $ I bought a power bank (60$) lol. Almost the price of the ally x in total but... I got double the storage (of Ally x 1 TB) and much faster speed plus I can connect other things with my new power bank. I'd wait for the sale or go straight ally x if this one is not on sale.

Good not great
|Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extreme useful as a mobile computer and gaming system. It just runs a little too hot and doesnt hold charge long enough for me to give 5 stars.

A great handheld could be better though.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the product AAA games in the palm of my hands. They could have doubled the ram and had a better battery and larger storage option on purchase but all in all I love my ally

This device is awesome!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love this device. The only issue is the storage and battery. I upgraded the storage to a 2TB ssd and it’s amazing. When looking at this product please know this isn’t a console it’s a computer and for a handheld computer it’s truly amazing

Powerful handheld
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Powerful handheld device. Setup can be tricky and some things are a bit finicky but overall, it plays all my games I want to play at reasonable settings with a gorgeous screen, great sound and meh battery life (though that doesn’t bother me at all). I’ve had zero issues since I got it.

Overall really great
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the Ally is really cool. It plays game surprisingly well, and is super versatile being a windows pc. Just wish the battery was like 50% better, but it's still a great device.

Best pc handheld
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROG Ally is the best, i absolutely love it. I built my own pc around feb this year and eventually it stopped allowing me to play games, then the Ally came out and its amazing. The graphics is very nice, its fast. The battery dies fast but i usually keep it plugged in if im gaming.

If you have a steam deck youre still winning
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rog Ally has alot of specs that look better on paper but when you are using the device the cons start to show. The steam deck is a much more comfortable device its very apparent when picking up one device and then the other. The rog just seems like looks was more focused on than the actual hand-fit of the device. Battery life on rog ally is terrible. Be prepared to always be plugged in. Could be due to windows. The steam deck is easily getting 50% more battery while gaming. Steam os is great and hopefully we can get it on ally soon. If you have a steam deck KEEP it and if you want a handheld go for steam deck as the rog ally is still a bit experimental. The steam deck is a more practical device at the moment also being a few hundred cheaper

So many problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gaming experience is good, while the unit works. The screen is phenominal, and the unit performs well. The control scheme is a pain and armoury crate frequently has issues changing controller schemes. The sd card reader will go out on you eventually, and the unit is plagued with power issues. My unit lasted around 20 days before it refused to recognize any charger and power up. The RMA process is the worst I have experienced from a tech company so far, and I have dealt with just about all of them.
