Bought this to try out, and loved it. Screen is amazing. Windows 11 works great on it. Super customizeable to fit any gamer's needs. Worls extremely well for xbox gamepass. Only downside: battery life, but, it does have fast charging. 0 to 100% in about an hour.

Was initially looking into a steam deck but with the outrageous prices of them I went with the ROG Ally and couldn’t have been happier! Pretty much a handheld gaming PC. Battery life is a bit of a bummer but overall highly recommend this device!

Was curious about the handheld pc’s and got this one open box. Performance is good if your realistic and dont mind lowering the graphics or resolution for max fps gains. I would recommend this to anyone who likes handheld gaming.

The ROG performs perfectly as a pc set up to play pretty much any game your heart desires! Steam games play beautifully! The Xbox gameplay is awesome as well! I do suggest you buy yourself a mini 1TB SD card and insert it into your rog ally ‘lisen’ docking station. You can save all your computer/steam files on this SD card! Have a extra 1-2Tb usb external hard drive plugged into the docking station as well so when you’re docked at home you can plug and play right into your tv through the hdmi. The rog has blew my hair back as a gaming system! I never would have thought I would be playing any game that can be played with a controller on the go.. with the docking station it makes it easy to go from Xbox gaming to instant pc gaming and easy switch back and forth. Thanks for inventing this device!

Good performance, very short battery life

Performed excellent in games for a handheld device. Unfortunately has very short battery life, lasted only 50 minutes per full charge in 15 watt mode. This was done playing older games like GTA V, Skyrim, Risk of Rain 2, and some emulators. Very weak battery performance for a handheld when compared to Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch. Not a problem if you plan on playing plugged in all the time, but not great if you plan on using on the go a lot. Definitely need to invest in an external battery pack.

I have a steam deck too and I personally like the ASUS Rog Ally more. The ASUS Rog Ally is a mini handheld gaming computer. I just like that I don't need to bring my gaming laptop with me anymore because I can just use the handheld now. Despite hearing that the buttons were bad, I've had no issues with the buttons yet. None of the buttons were stuck or hard to push when I used it. I heard that there is no sleep mode and the system goes into the lock screen when the power button is pressed or the black screen shows when the system is idle. I turned the settings on the lowest since I heard the battery does not last long. So far, the battery has lasted for a long time but I guess that is because I was just playing Left 4 Dead 2 for starters. I heard games like Resident Evil 4 Remake will drain the battery fast. I like the lights on the analog sticks when the system is turned off.

    Awesome Product, Okay Software

Great device if you game on Windows. I'd love to see better implementation of a physical keyboard and the SD heating issues fixed but these are relatively minor things to deal with for the portability. A custom fan curve seems to really help this thing run better with an SD card in but I still often face slowness with it. These complaints still didn't keep me from buying a 2nd for my wife though. As far as comparison to the steam deck, I think working around the quirks of windows is worth it to play any game versus only steam deck verified games. Armory crate could use better integration but maybe software updates will get rolled out soon. The choice seemed pretty clear to me.

hardware: overall checks most boxes. current gen cpu, very good display, great controls, solid storage and ram offering. amazing heat/fan management, can barely hear it unless you really stress the system; even then, it handles most things like a champ. software: windows 11 is windows, so there's no real complaint there. armory crate is abit janky. sometimes pulling up the armory menu, there's lag. some of the settings didnt really make too much sense. overall: the way i see it, it's a great bang for the buck mini pc with controller attached. i think if armory crate improves and windows 11 creates a new ui for games like steam big picture, this will be a phenomenal machine!

I was a little skeptical at first, but this does everything I could hope for in a handheld device minus cross platform licensing(which isn't Asus fault or problem to solve). I have fairly large hands and it's incredibly comfortable for me playing hours at a time. I read mixed reviews around the Armory Crate app, but I think it works great and love the ability to customize the buttons per game. I was also really surprised how quicky Windows 11 boots up on the device. The only real flaw I can find is the battery life, but it does recharge really quickly. I probably get a little over an hour of time before it's about dead. I just finished a playthrough of Uncharted Legacy of Thieves and it worked great, sometimes for hours at a time. Highly recommend!

Its amazing how the Ally has the gaming chops of much larger gaming built PC's but in a portable form. I've been playing Starfield and Cyberpunk and they both look and play great.

One of the best Handheld Gaming PC out there overall aesthetics was sharp, cool, and sleek. Disliked the fact the shell around the machine was white I would have preferred the ROG Ally in a darker color like the eclipse grey color they use on their ROG Strix, and Scar Laptops. Performance is very good like how the embedded controller overrides all controls in windows and on games that don't use or have controller support. I think the storage could be better 512GB is not a lot for gaming anymore as most games take about 60-150GB to download and run.

At first I wasn’t sure about the Ally but decided to give it a try. It was between this and a gaming laptop, however I am on the go a lot and travel a lot for work. I am so happy with this purchase and absolutely love the ROG Ally.

I really like ROG ally mainly because I can take the game with me without having to sit at my desk. It is powerful enough to run recent games wells. 900p setup is a must. You will not notice the resolution change from 1080p to 900p.

I am a very experienced long-time PC tinkerer. I am used to setting up computers, laptops, etc to get them to an absolutely perfect state. So getting this thing to a state where I really enjoyed using it was no problem for me. I also own a Steam Deck. That was pretty much ready to go almost instantly. It's a much more user-friendly device and most people should choose it instead. On top of a much better UI, it also has touch pads and a gyro sensor, meaning it has more control options. That being said, if you are experienced at tinkering with PCs, putting up with the Ally's downsides is 100% worth it to get the much more powerful APU (graphics and processor) and MUCH nicer screen.

Overall this is a great little system and performed well. No issues and the size is comfortable. It did get a bit hot and it was hard to navigate using the touchscreen due to how small it was, but it was manageable.

It’s very strong and an excellent addition in the advancement of portable gaming. It’s powerful and does a lot of the important things right such as power, cooling, noise. But there are issues that most people would agree on in user interface and ease of access. It’s essentially windows 11 which has it’s pros and faults and while the armor crate UI I honestly think is strong, a lot does get left to be desired because of how it feels like it is dependent on keyboard and mouse optimization. But being real, you buy ut to play games and it plays them amazingly, very strong in a wide variety of platforms because of that windows 11 help and as a game pass machine it works amazing.

I can play destiny 2 at 720p around 70-90 FPS. Wonderful Playing older titles at 60+ FPS is nice as well. I would recommend upgrading the SSD at some point if you play a lot of different games, as 512gb is pretty lacking. You will need a 2230 NVME.
