Love it so much more than my Steam Deck. The battery isn't fantastic but not a problem if you don't mind being plugged in.

Love the device - it is not as powerful as a PC - want to stress this!! It runs alot of games great if you run them on lower settings!! Dont expext to run graphic intesive games with out some lag but overall i live it ran Spiderman Series was a blast, rum APEX no priblem awesome device!!

I absolutely love this device. I take it everywhere with me and it performs wonderfully. The battery drains so quickly so make sure you have a battery on hand.

I returned my Steam Deck. The idea of a handheld gaming PC is a great one, but Valve’s offering really just does not have the horsepower to make good on that proposition. While it still has a lot of compromises and unstable performance, the ROG Ally has given me an experience that has been more in line with what I was led to expect on the Steam Deck. Windows hasn’t been an issue after setting the sleep button to Hibernate, as the Big Picture feature of Steam has essentially always been a SteamOS emulator. In summary, this product is what the Steam Deck advertises itself as, and unlike the Steam Deck itself, nothing less.

This handheld has a great screen and allows me to play most of my games. I have a Steam Deck as well and it's definitely a performance boost above the Steam Deck. The software experience is a little clunky but overall this is a great product.

While I did rate this product “Average”, I do think it’s a cool device. But currently, windows handhelds have a lot of room for improvement. Mainly in the battery department. The screen is good and the speakers sound nice. A major downside of this device is the horribly joystick dead zone. This is not a good device for shooters. IMO, the Ally is the best PC handheld but the concept needs time to mature

Great handheld PC, controls work really great and im surprised how many games this can play. Battery life is ahort but mine is mostly plugged in. It does take a little tinkering to get setup but i think its well worth the effort!

It's pretty impressive how well it runs some of the more demanding games when plugged in. Battey life and game performance drop quite a bit when unplugged. I returned the system after 10 days. My memory card stopped working and my joystick started drift a lot. Great idea and if they fix some of the issues I may get one again but I did not feel like helping Asus work or the bugs.

Gets a little hot but it is awesome. Definitely spring for the extreme, it is a huge difference

if the battery lasted more, this would be the perfect gaming device, even with that, it is amazing how it handels all kids of games. you will need an additional, heavy portable battery if your're planning on playing AAA games for more than an hour.

Having a handheld PC like this has been great! In the home i stream games too it via Moonlight and with wifi 6 and AV1 encoding/decoding the latency practically non existent! Outside the home being able to load up FFXIV when im on wifi has been a game changer! Offline games are of course much easier to deal with. The other day inwas at Disney world and while waiting for a show i was able to quickly check my retainers in FFXIV and send them on ventures! Loved that. Playing lying in bed, fantastic, the Z1 Extreme is wuite powerful, and Asus has been committed to improving this device which is fantastic!

My first device the LB button didn’t work out of the box. My second device fried my SD card. On my third device been good for a month now. Noticed that some changes to the device since my first device. No fabric tape on the fans. Different ssd brand. This one has micron and others had western digital ssd. Swapped it with a 2tb ssd. Good device. I’m used to windows nonsense. I was lucky that the other devices had issues with in the 2 week return policy at Best Buy. My current device I waited a month to purchase it again. Figured the manufacturing batch would be different and it was. Doesn’t say different sku. But it is.

Pros: cooling is phenomenal, screen has retina-burning brightness and vivid colors, can essentially play *any* game. Cons: essentially not battery life, sticks could be a bit heftier (awful deadzones), and windows in general can be a pain.

its fine fast loading awesome graphics lil heavy heats up to hot fast I assume its ok at high heat temps

Bought a Legion Go and returned it to buy this. Main reasons I prefer this over the Legion Go/Steam Deck: Runs Windows (vs Steam Deck) 16:9 resolution (vs Legion Go) Button layout (vs Legion Go) Much lighter (vs Legion Go) The Legion go had some significant problems running some games because of the odd resolution. The screen is nicer, but that doesn't matter when it can't play the entire library. The games that did run well had control issues because of the strange button layout.

I cant recommend thw rog ally enough. Was sceptical but it completely blew me away playing AAA games smooth and is super convenient.

I was really excited to receive this device, and I had fun setting it up and customizing it to my liking. I didn't like waiting for ASUS to update it to fix various problems at launch, though. It took about a month but I would say the device is usable in most cases and will continue to improve. Windows seems unoptimized for the Ally, but it's manageable if you know how to work with Windows 11. If you can't stand Windows don't buy this. But it's the most powerful and capable hand-held gaming device yet and will only get better in the future. The massive hate is undeserved, but keeping ASUS accountable is still important going forward.

I love it… I can see what see and purchase Steam games and continue playing my xbox games on the go. Just watch those updates

It's really good, the only thing I don't give 5 stars is the battery that runs out really fast, but plugged to a good power bank it just runs perfect
