I absolutely love this device. I take it everywhere with me and it performs wonderfully. The battery drains so quickly so make sure you have a battery on hand.

My first device the LB button didn’t work out of the box. My second device fried my SD card. On my third device been good for a month now. Noticed that some changes to the device since my first device. No fabric tape on the fans. Different ssd brand. This one has micron and others had western digital ssd. Swapped it with a 2tb ssd. Good device. I’m used to windows nonsense. I was lucky that the other devices had issues with in the 2 week return policy at Best Buy. My current device I waited a month to purchase it again. Figured the manufacturing batch would be different and it was. Doesn’t say different sku. But it is.

Pros: cooling is phenomenal, screen has retina-burning brightness and vivid colors, can essentially play *any* game. Cons: essentially not battery life, sticks could be a bit heftier (awful deadzones), and windows in general can be a pain.

If you know how to use windows, it’s extremely easy to use and set up. I do wish it had track pads like my steam deck, but it plays some of the games I can’t play without dual booting windows. Overall great performance and customization options.

The ASUS - ROG Ally 7 is a powerhouse in the world of portable gaming, and it's not difficult to see why it's deserving of a perfect 5-star rating. This gaming handheld is a marvel, packing the punch of a high-end gaming setup into a sleek and portable design that's perfect for gaming on-the-go. At the heart of the ROG Ally 7 is the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Processor, a beast when it comes to performance. This processor ensures that games run smoothly, even those with high demands, making no compromise on speed or quality. The 512GB storage is generous, providing ample space for an extensive game library, so you're never left wanting for entertainment options.

The Design is what I appreciated the most. Holding it feels natural. However it is heavy and it is impractical to play on charging all the time. But besides that its amazing.

I was really excited to receive this device, and I had fun setting it up and customizing it to my liking. I didn't like waiting for ASUS to update it to fix various problems at launch, though. It took about a month but I would say the device is usable in most cases and will continue to improve. Windows seems unoptimized for the Ally, but it's manageable if you know how to work with Windows 11. If you can't stand Windows don't buy this. But it's the most powerful and capable hand-held gaming device yet and will only get better in the future. The massive hate is undeserved, but keeping ASUS accountable is still important going forward.

Great little device for on the go playing. I was skeptical at first due to the early reviews, but the firmware that came out prior to release seems to have fixed a lot of the issues. Pros: + Great performance + Controller has good tactile feel and is responsive + Overall better grip and comfort compared to Steam Deck + Excellant picture quality with vibrant colors Cons: - Takes a little work to get controller profiles setup for some games - Windows needs work for this style of device, this is a handheld not a desktop device - Wish it came with built in 1TB storage, although you can also use Micro SD (UHS-II) cards for additional storage.

Great handheld and quite the power house even after months of owning the device. Only issue would be battery life is rather short if you want to enjoy your game to its full potential.

I tried my friend steam deck and I thought this was way better. Smaller than the steam deck fits in the hands better and pretty manageable. I highly recommend the dock too. I'm able to hook up the TVs and monitors and all sorts of things. I believe this is using the newest AMD Ryzen extreme mobile chipset based off of the smallest 3 nanometer manufacturing technologies possibly by TSMC. This thing performs better than my 3-year-old alienware laptop. I highly recommend getting a one terabyte card because you will be playing AAA games on it and they take up a lot of space. Just like PC or Xbox or PlayStation 5. But if you're looking for it all in one solution and need a new computer it runs on full windows 11 with optimization and custom software by Asus which is very good really helps with the interface

    Absolutely garbage windows infested junk

Purchased this on a cross country trip as i forgot my dock for my switch. This should not be asvertised as a gaming handheld. Its freaking windows 11. Horrible os. Plauged with same junk update after update u get on a pc. Bloated down on a weak handheld draining excess battery life. Not to mention when logging in it tried to sync to my home pc. Like why would anyone in the right mind want to sync a dinky 512gb hand held device to their home pc and waste massive amounts of space and time downloading useless programs for a hand held. Not designed with gaming 1st in mind. Windows needs to just stop. I despise apple and only use windows on pc but this is just invasive and inappropriate for a hand held. Cut all the bloated os crap and focus on gaming only. Period. If i wanna install office ill do it myself

The screen, speakers and performance are better than I thought. There are some bugs need to be fixed. User experience in docked mode is not good. I like the overall design but if there is a gen 2 in the future, I would love a second USB-C

The beauty of a steam deck is that it just works. The Ally, being based around a Windows OS, means that day to day use comes with more bugs and quirks, but overall its worth the added effort to have the flexibility. The extra processor power with rhe extreme chip doesn't just feel like an upgrade, it's borderline required for a good experience. I wouldn't recommend going with the slower processor, even if it costs you battery life. When it's working well the ROG Armoury is a fine games launcher, but sometimes it's easier to just open Steam or Epic. Where the system loses points for me is the mechanics of using Windows. The touchscreen is a saving grace of the system as it the windows experience does not translate to joysticks. If Asus could reslly focus on getting this part of the system right, it would be the clear best gaming handheld. But it's still worth the hassle.
