Life Changer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. Despite having a steam deck, it doesnt do everything I need in one device. I knew the Legion Go was coming out and it was another option I weighed in mine. However I saw this open box for a great price, I have relatively small hands and from what people says the Go makes even big men’s hands feel small, and I had good experience with Asus. Upgrading the internals was much easier than even the Deck. Honestly was worth it and really happy with it.

Good Windows gaming handheld.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good handheld gaming device. There are some quarks, but there are workarounds to those (admittedly Windows 11 driven) quarks. Full HD gameplay at mid quality graphics will get you what you want. Battery life isn't that great (about 1-2 hours for AAA games), but you should go into this purchase knowing that. Full Windows 11 experience.

My new Ally
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a machine that is going to age like fine wine. Amory Crate still needs work but Windows is not a hindrance. Just keep expectations in check. Its not going to run Cyberpunk full blast but Im not looking to play a game like that on a 7 inch screen anyway. Its nice to know that if I tone it down I can though. Ive had absolutely no problems with my Ally that would have damaged or corrupted the system in any way. Been using it since day one. Armory crate is the only thing that really needs work still as of 7-19-23. Buy it and game away.

Could’ve been great. Instead was a nightmare.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an absolute nightmare trying to setup the Ally. Initially couldn’t get the keyboard to pull up in the window setup. After restarting it worked. Then when I was setting everything up I kept getting armoury crate errors during the windows setup. After finally making it into windows everything was good….. until it wasn’t. After updating the Ally I went to enter my pin and it gave me an error saying my pin was unavailable and to setup a new pin. I just changed my number on my microsoft account so it was asking me to enter a code sent to my old number to setup a new pin… My only option was to reset the ally because everytime I pressed the back button to try and login to a different microsoft account to setup a new pin it would kick me back to the enter pin screen. I ended up having to hook up a keyboard and getting to the recovery screen to reset the ally. After finally going through everything for the second time. I installed updates and the ally kept going through a continuous boot where the thumbstick leds would keep turning on and off. Had to hold the power button and manually power it on to get it to boot correctly. Once it booted guess what happened AGAIN! I got a message saying my pin was unavailable again befofe I even got the chance to try entering it. Needless to say I’ll be returning the Ally. What a massive uneccesary headache and waste of 5hrs of my time trying to get everything to work.

A good bargain
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ROG Alley is first gen Z1E so it has proprietary egpu port and only 16gb of ram. But all that aside it’s a solid device you can play many of you old school Steam favorites although it struggles on new AAA titles.

PC Gaming On the Go
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a nice handheld that plays pc games and functions as a mini handheld pc this is an amazing device to have, you can play simple indie games, or play all your triple a games such as god of war, spider man, or anything inbetween, not just that but you can also set it up as a desktop. All you need is an adapter, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and you're all set to do school work or browse the web. Theres alot you can do with this device, i wouldnt recommend it for children since it really is just a portable handheld laptop/pc

Still a great device, but made me waste $70
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well for the first few weeks I had none of the issues people are speaking about (stick dead zones, bricking, updates breaking random things. I launched a game earlier(medieval dynasty) and played for about 90 seconds before the whole thing froze. I had to do a hard reset. Once it booted back up, Windows as a whole was acting wonky. Everything was loading extra slow. Touch screen wouldn't work. Explorer (Windows folder system) would not launch for anything. Finally got the touch working again. Still issues with the rest of windows. I updated everything and still nothing. Tried to restart and it sat at the restart screen for a good 5 minutes. I finally got curious and took the SD card out. It immediately restarted and Windows ran perfectly. Reinserted the SD card, and the problems started again. Come to find out after trying it on several computers in my house, the Sd card is fried. All this the morning after an update that was suppose to increase the fan speed to reduce the temps and prevent this. Outside of this, the device has been great. All I can say is don't use an SD card with this. Spend the extra money of you want more storage, get a proper m.2 ssd that's higher capacity, clone the drive and put it in the device.

Good value for price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find myself using it everyday. Areas of improvement would be better ergonomics and better battery life. The sharp edges can be uncomfortable to hold for a long time.

Gaming dad Ally
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little device, as a dad that games this is great to grab some game time when the little one naps. Does take a little bit of PC knowledge to tweak some settings and get it working correctly but nothing to complicated. I bought one for my brother as well who is not that great with computers and was still able to get everything set up and enjoys using the device. For the price you cannot beat it, this is truly an ALLY to a gaming dad.
