Don’t bother with SD, just get a bigger nvme
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The rog ally can function as a laptop. It plays games very well. When playing in battery though you will notice some stuttering. My SD slot is damaged as it was burned inside out however it still works. Don’t bother with a SD card, just get a bigger drive.

Great for on the go!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product is amazing, way better than advertised. Only reason for 4 stars is because its lacking in certain areas! Wish memory was bigger. Needs lots of updates right off the rip. But for the price its worth it. Prefect for a beginner handheld. Would definitely recommend for anyone.

Buy a Steam Deck
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Windows 11 really isn't made for a handheld device. I've been a PC gamer most of my life so I'm somewhat familiar with Window's quirks, but I with a handheld device youbgenerally want to get up and go, not fiddle with settings half the time. Is it more powerful? Sure. But that comes at a signifcant cost to battery life. What is the point of having a handheld device that you need to be tethered to a charger to use? At 15 watts the newer OLED Steam Deck is significantly more stable and has greater performance than the Ally at 15 watts. The Ally doesn't become more powerful until it hits it's 25 to 30 watt turbo mode. Just get the Steam Deck

Amazing once you finally manage to play something
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My feelings are complicated. On the one hand, graphically it is FAR superior to the steam deck. I had a GTX 1080 on my pc and 12 gigs of RAM, and the steam deck ran better for some games, worse for several. The Ally, especially plugged in, blows both out of the water HOWEVER Set up can be a pain. Switcing apps can be a nightmare It's essentially a laptop with no keyboard, and the onscreen keyboard can be a battle. It restarted or had to be restarted a dozen times when i was setting it up it seems to have forgotten the SD card was there, as others have said it really, REALLY wants me to put powerpoint and excel on the device, since its basically a laptop like i said constantly, pop up windows- especially when buying something on steam- seem to confuse both the touch screen and the "mouse", and i am constantly selecting the window under it basically i buy games from the steam website on my phone, then download via the ally its great for portable plays, looks good on my TV, but it really needs a better interface that stops bombarding me with PowerPoint and MS Word notifications when i am trying to play a game

An all in one portable gaming machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Short and Sweet: play all your favorite PC games from Steam, Gamepass, Epic Launcher, and more! If you can play it on a regular PC, you can play in this! Perfect for those who like to emulate! On top of that, you can run all your microsoft 365 apps and use effectively with a (sold seprately) dock! 10/10 reccomend. Im giving it 5/5 even thiugh the micro SD card doesnt launch some games. Im holing a future update will take care if it.

Rog all z1
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is perfect for someone who wants to get into pc gamming and is used to a controller for gameplay great price for a low in pc that can play AAA games when pluged in. Although if you do want to play it on a bigger screen you would need to buy other cords and parts. Thats the only down fall to me.

Best purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great gaming handheld PC. I was hesitant to buy but after doing my research on it. I decided to give this a go instead of the steam deck. Coming from mainly console gaming this has given me a taste of what to expect going full PC down the road. Great device for remote play on Xbox and game pass Pc. I been playing Battle.net games and steam games. I play this more than my switch. I do highly recommend upgrading the ssd to 1 or 2tb.

Great handheld pc
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a great addition to my consoles. I play my switch all the time but am disappointed by the limited library, I also have a ROG Zephyrus but dont have the accessibility to play it all the time. The Ally is a best of both worlds. With the updated ASUS has sent out it runs great. I have no problems playing Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring, and Cyber Punk 2077. Plus its modable

Awesome Handheld
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome handheld PC. Great buy! The out of the box setting make it easy to play some great games with the push of a button. If you are anything like me and like to tinker with settings you can get some amazing performance out of the integrated graphics. Would recommend this product highly if you are in the market for an awesome portable gaming PC.

Nice to be a PC gamer now
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It runs really well and is fast, the graphics are pretty good as well. The one thing I’m not a huge fan of is the battery life. It lasts somewhere between 1-2 hours. So not the best if you wanna take it on a long trip without somewhere to plug it in. But still pretty good. I love it.

Great but just missed perfection.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The device is very nice and plays some incredible games. However, the most important thing, battery life is quite short on this device. Short enough that it wouldn’t really work that well for handheld-heavy moments where you do not have the freedom to be plugged in to the power. I hope the ally 2 gets a massive increase in battery life.

If u want a better switch this is what you need.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my experience with the ROG Ally, it has made a favorable impact. While acknowledging the potential for battery improvement, its versatility as a handheld is commendable, adeptly handling indie and AAA games. For those still uncertain, watching a few videos could provide clarity. However, I wholeheartedly recommend it for gamers seeking a straightforward yet powerful handheld option.

A good system once you get through the long set up
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a few weeks of playing on it, i can say that i really like playing on it. The biggest issue that i see alot of people talking about is that there is a long set up process. But once i got it set up, i have had a great experience with it. It is great for xbox game pass, which was my biggest complaint about the steamdeck. The proformance had been pretty good though i admit alot of the games i play are older and not as demanding.

Get this and a Mouse and folding keyboard...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before anything,, If you OWN AN ALLY!,,, for 4$ there is a right angled M.2 Adapter online that lets you put in a full 2280. Every other cheap PC handheld doesn't do that. in Theory if you could afford a 8TB drive, it could be done.. The screen size on the Go is tempting, This is lighter and still gets heavy in certain positions. I really Really HATE That ASUS needs to know who I am for a Graphics Driver...AMD releases Z1 Extreme drivers through the builder not directly.... And Windows.....almost want to hack it. Whatever happened to devices working and not holding themselves hostage without having my info? Shame on ASUS, Shame on Microsoft. the UI " works" but Big Picture is better. It runs Starfield better than I figured it would. The touch Keyboard is just not good! I wish you had the option to make it a 98% style for more functionality, or put a big move button so I can read what I'm typing. It's a great Device with mostly bloatware/software gags. Also final Gripe! Hall effect say What?
