Best Handheld experience for AAA gaming/windows

Plays every AAA game very well. Best of all, you can lower the resolution (since the display is so small) or enable FSR and you can't even tell really unless you are looking closely. Boots up in seconds and can load into a game within a minute or two from booting up.

Way better than the steam deck interms of everything. The controlls for surfing the web is like using a phone and not to mention how easy it is to just download a game launch it and switch to controller mode. All the reviewers on youtube who say windows sucks are just a bunch of nerds looking at 4 fps difference

I was torn between the Ally and the Steam deck. I'm glad I chose the Ally. It's amazing and so fun to game on and tinker with. It's a full on windows 11 pc in your hand that can play any AAA title with ease. Next upgrade will be a larger SSD and a better travel case. I'm not a huge fan of the official Rog one.

Ill be traveling for a while so this is exactly what I needed in a step up over the steam deck. The screen is SO much better than the deck, and ill really appreciate that as I go. I'd say that if you didnt care about the slight perfromance gain / screen and currently have a Deck you should probably stick with that

Much better than my steamdeck as far as usability. Plays more games, but the micro sd design is so flaw and can fry a micro sd within a week. Upgrading the internal 2230 ssd was easy!

Impressive device for the money. Don’t get me wrong you can get a lot more function out of a pc at this price point but as far as handhelds go this thing is very powerful. The reason I can’t give it 5 stars is QC. I’ve had fan wine and more recently my SD card slot has fried (as most people with these units have experienced). I’m hoping to return this unit under the manufacturers warranty and purchase something else. If you have money to blow and don’t care about those issues it’s a great unit. However I’m going to be searching for something with more longevity even at the cost of performance.

This is not a steam deck. This is a full windows pc, so setup isn’t as easy as a steam deck but the capability is far greater. Plug it into a dock and you have a mobile gaming handheld that can do all of your normal pc task

Really enjoying this device. Plays AAA games without a hitch when you tweak the settings and set your TDP manually. Have had a few issues - mostly windows related - but youtube helped me clear those up and find an 18W TDP that is a good compromise of performance and battery. Overall a win in my book.

This thing is so much better than the Steam Deck! You can do everything on the go as you would your computer. Only draw back is short battery life when AAA gaming. I bought an Anker portable power bank which certainly helps. Wouldn't sell this for anything, Or at least until the Ally 2 comes out.

Window is the way to go for handheld IMO. This is a major leap for gamers and i would reccomend to any on the go gamer. Battery life could be better but buy the upgraded black one for that.

Amazing portable PC/gaming system. I own the steam deck and this system is miles and miles above it. The screen looks so much better 30 watt tdp allows me to play recent AAA games on it. I will be selling my steam deck shortly. The only thing is typical widows issues but you get used to them fast.

Good for Fortnite as a handheld gaming pc. Gets hot and to get decent fps to play at least 60fps consistently. In the end the battery life was only 1hr and for the money just not worth it.

Phenomenal! It's a new device. Most of the issues are windows issues as well. I believe things will get better overall with this handheld. This has replaced my consoles already. People talk about the battery life as well. Someone said the fastest car is not going to have the best gas mileage! Remember that!

Great Potential, but HORRENDOUS initial setup

Let me preface this with, for standard users, this is not ideal or streamlined to setup. Asus has MANY bugs to work out. Upon initial setup, I couldn't get past OOBE for windows when trying to unit the password for my WiFi. Why? Because the onscreen keyboard didnt populate, as is common. You can force it up by holding tye rear bumper buttons and. Pushing up on rhe Dpad simultaneously, but i had to google that answer. Or you can connect it to a dock and external KB/Mouse and workaround it. Either way, highly annoying and terrible programming from Asus. Then, Armoury Crate continued to crash wanna pop up black acreens subsequently during setup. Overall, i spent 3 hours doing setup, and I'm a power user in Windows. I can only imagine how long it would take a normal user, or how many people just returned it. Likely why there are are a TON of openbox offerings in my locale now. Add in that PS Remote play isnt natively compatible and you gave to install Chiaki or otgerwise, and its a high fidget device that is definitely not ready for the general public. That being said, once you do get it all set, it looks great and plays well across PC games, Xbox, and even streaming. The lack of trackpads is annoying, but battery life is decent, and it is much more powerful than steamdecks top model in comparison.

Good handheld system reall no complaints. If you are running some of the more intense games it does get a little glitchy but with a handheld thats kinda expected. Would buy again. So far ive played jedi survivor, need for speed and madden all ran excellent.

Screen / picture quality is amazing. Smooth gaming experience Sounds great Runs windows which can be a plus or minus depending on the user and their knowledge of how to use windows. This is a full blown mini gaming PC. If you don't wanna use the built in controller buy a dock and connect it to your tv and use a Regular gaming controller Asus makes one for this. It doesn't have to be used as a handheld, you can use the included little dock and just use it to watch Netflix, YouTube etc. This isn't a console for kids. This is an adult console, meaning you have to read instructions on screen and follow directions, some games you may have to map your own buttons, so not for kids plus it has full windows so theirs that. Mature older teen 16+ sure great gift. So while it may look like a Nintendo Switch I would definitely not recommend this for younger kids or anyone that does not intend to put in the work with windows updates, and navigating, installing all of the gaming services. You can also upgrade the internal SSD if the included 512 isn't enough for you.
