Its a decent handheld gaming system/computer. Im still learning and adjusting on how to use it. Nice to be able to play games from steam, ea, epic, and more. Battery life is ok, but if youre running a bigger game it will drain it fast and also heat up. The sound it outputs is really nice, a lot better than i would have expected! For being my first handheld pc, i think i got my moneys worth. But i think that some improvements could definitely be made

Rog Ally is a next generation when compared to the Steam Deck. Although, Windows is buggy and annoying at a times but you get so many options to do with your handheld without the need of dealing with errors if you choose to install games from various platforms (GOG, Epic, EA, etc). However, if you like using docking stations (TV connection), Rog Ally isn’t seamless compared to steam deck. An update could fix that. For me, the screen itself in Rog Ally is a worthy upgrade. I upgraded the 512gb to 2Tb before I even started using it. It’s the best handheld gaming device in the market.

Great for gaming on the go! Definitely sucks that to be able to use top performance you have to sacrifice the battery life.

Works really well and love the game play. Can get hot if you’re not letting the air flow. It’s a handheld pc so it’s awesome. Photo is compared with a switch light. Much bigger screen yet not heavy

ok, I have both the Steam Deck and the Rog Ally. Both are similar in size, and have the same screen size, resolution, and storage. that's where the similarities end. Here is where the Rog Ally excels over the Steam Deck. 1: ability to adjust and customize the GPU settings. can't adjust the GPU settings on the Steam Deck. 2: ability to play all Steam games. Steam Deck is still having compatibility issues. 3: recognizes external storage devices like thumb drives. Steam Deck does not. 4: full version of Windows 11 all in all a much better and more versatile unit than the Steam Deck.

I loved my ROG Ally, but it did have its fair share of hardware issues. The SD card slot, touch screen, and joysticks were problematic, making it less durable and somewhat inconvenient at times. However, when everything worked, it was an amazing device! I primarily used it to stream my Xbox and PlayStation games, which may have been overkill for its capabilities. For local games, I stuck to titles like Minecraft and Toontown, as competing in fast-paced games was difficult without a keyboard and mouse. Overall, I’m glad I got to experience being on the cutting edge of portable gaming. Unfortunately, due to the touchpad malfunction (a hardware issue), I’ll be using the Ally in docked mode going forward. Unless ASUS addresses these issues in future iterations, I’m likely to switch to Lenovo or OneXPlayer for my next handheld gaming device.

Looks cool, works great. Has ran every game i have thrown at it so far, with little to no tinkering with settings. Battery life is short, but thats expected with so much power in a small package.

The good - it's a nice piece of hardware for the price. It quite literally will run aaa games usually on low-mid settings (still looks great on the small screen) windows is not as bad to deal with on the handheld as some say (if you're not looking for the console experience the steam deck provides). The bad - the buttons and joysticks don't feel aaa, they feel like a well built but generic brand controller, think powera or whoever makes the decent off brand Nintendo stuff. And as everyone else has said, setup is a pain to get everything updated and running correctly.

Where do I start? This thing really has been my ALLY since I purchased it. I was waiting for Dell to drop the UFO but Asus got the jump on them and made all the things I wanted about a handheld come true that the steam deck just didn't have. Full windows 11 with microsofts blessing + support, constant driver upgrades to enchance the performance, inverted thumbsticks, beefier hardware, a 1080p 120hz freesync display with 100% SRGB coverage, and all the AMD goodies baked in like like the 720p to 1080p resampling that gives you insane fps boosts on a handheld like this. I've had a blast using a mouse and keyboard with this thing at work on my breaks, and often I use itas my main work PC! Can't recommend it enough!

Very cool handheld PC. It really is a PC. The unit does get a little hot after an hour or more of usage. Very cool for getting your gaming fix while on the road. Great for frequent travelers.

Ive been in the market for a handheld like this for quite sometime.. Ive done much research on the ROG Ally and the Steam Deck and you cant compare it to the steam deck the steam deck is a linux based handheld that runs specific games basically SteamOS. However the ROG Ally is running a full version of windows 11 and that alone tells you what kind of games you can play. Its also running a Z1 Extreme processor and withs its built in APU I’m running Starfield at between 30-50 FPS on medium settings. I love this purchase.. so long switch.

ROG Ally is the best gaming handheld ive owned. I have the Steam Deck and the Ally and i pick up the Ally almost everytime for handheld gaming. The Steam Deck is a more comfortable grip but the Ally is so much more versatile. I play all kinds of games and the Ally can handle all of them. It takes some tweaking to get your games set up right but there are so many guides out there for specific game settings. 10/10 would recommend. Cant wait to see what ROG will do next for handheld gaming

For the price this thing does it all! I was seriously impressed at how well games run on the Ally. Everything from RDR2 to Hogwarts legacy have all run super smooth. Pair this with a good docking station, a wireless keyboard, and a good controller this portable gaming console can do everything you need it to, plus more with its windows 11 built in. I will reccomend a larger micro sd card if you plan on downloading a lot of games, or upgrade the ssd to the 1tb or 2tb

I have used the Ally about 10 times over the course of the last 4 weeks. When it loads up a game, it looks great and runs fast. The battery life is lacking for a "portable" device. It has needed an OS update every 2-3 uses. It hasn't caused an issue in some games, but I have had issues running a couple of games. Controls feel a little clunky and I have bought a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use with it. I would probably purchase it again, but not at this price point.
