Rune slow but once you configure it, it becomes a more enjoyable experience. But I’ve had the SD port break on me twice now and it’s very annoying. Take that into consideration before buying.

This is everything I hoped the switch would be. The hardware is exceptional. It is quiet and cool when gaming. There are tons of options to tweak the settings to your liking. It runs windows 11 which is mostly ok. Not a perfect pairing, but with a little tweaking, this becomes mostly a non issue. Asus armory crate is better than I thought it would be. Steam big picture, Xbox game pass, battlenet all run really well. I’ve used this as a pc with a usb c dock as well. Connecting a mouse, keyboard and monitor was very easy. This worked really well and just worked.

This thing runs windows flawlessly (as flawless as windows could be). The vrr screen is fantastic and it's an emulation giant!

Unfortunate noticed issues included control stick dead zones that weren’t addressed by ASUS in the two weeks since launch. Additionally this device killed several SD cards and has occurred on multiple devices as well. Until these issues are resolved I can’t recommend this device

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. ASUS provides warranty coverage for the product. I am currently playing Bioshock Infinite at 1080p with everything set on ultra, getting 120FPS. One of the most innovative PC platforms in the last decade. Five enthusiastic stars.

Buggy Mess

The first issue was that if you let it go to sleep, it wouldn’t wake up. It wouldn’t turn on with the power button or with any other button. Only a hard reset and then the device would power up. This happened twice and then I wouldn’t let it go to sleep. Then it made me reset my PIN for no good reason. Plus I never got the fingerprint sensor to work after I set it up. The next major issue was left speaker would go in and out. Typically once I started a game, suddenly the left speaker would stop working. I would restart the game and the speaker still wouldn’t work. I would reboot the device and the issue would persist. Once rebooting a second time and the left speaker came back. I don’t know why the left speaker would go in and out. The last straw was that I turned on the device and then the Rog Allly wouldn’t boot and instead showed the BitLocker recovery screen. I didn’t know what the key was, so I turned it off. It eventually booted up correctly, but then I knew that this device had serious issues. I don’t know how the device got reviewed so well. The screen is really the only standout feature. But so many things don’t work right with this device that weren’t captured in any review. And I bought the Steam Deck shortly after launch and that had a lot of bugs, but at least it always turned on. So I would recommend against buying a Rog Ally.

If you are experiencing issues and performance issue with the device, please ensure Windows and drivers are up to date. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. While gaming online, please check if the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor and unstable internet connection this will definitely affect system speed and performance like you are experiencing. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. For the price of this, you could easily build a pc or even buy a gaming laptop that far exceeds the performance, while also being useful for other non gaming tasks.
