We do understand your disappointment with the ROG Ally and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing excessive heat generation. It is normal for handheld devices, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle. To regulate heat generation, ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions to have efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming ensure no resource-hungry applications, services and processes are running in the background, this will spike the temperature. You can check go to Task Manager to check how high system resource utilization is being used. The heat or temperature does decrease or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. Additionally, update Windows, drivers, BIOS and the Armoury Crate utility software if outdated. Updates for the device are posted at: https://rog.asus.com/us/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-ally-2023/helpdesk_bios/. Configure your system, game, video and operating mode settings inside the latest version of the Armoury Crate utility software posted at: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury%20crate/helpdesk_download/ . If these steps were performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. As of right now though, I can’t say I’d really recommend the ally with the unfixable (as of now) SD card issue and Asus’s less than stellar customer service. The system Itself feels great in the hands and the shoulder buttons are nice and crisp feeling. However, the analog sticks feel a little loose for my liking and the face buttons are kinda cheap feeling for the amount of money you’re spending. It’s not all doom and gloom though. Hardware issues aside, The ally runs pretty much whatever game I throw at it flawlessly and at decent settings. Running on Windows is an absolute plus as well. Honestly, hold off on an ally purchase. The market on handheld gaming PCs is just getting off the ground and I think we’re going to see some pretty amazing machines sooner rather than later.

The fact it runs windows streamlines my access to all my non steam games - this will be using many of the other launchers, plus i think i can use it for a lot of titles that wouldnt have worked well with the Steam Deck even with work arounds. I recomend going to Asus guides so you can learn the hidden features like the back buttons being called M1 and M2. They activate a lot of things. Like the keyboard. M1+M2 and up on d pad
