I would like for the EGPU to be cheaper.

We do understand your disappointment with the ROG Ally and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing overheating running basic games. It is normal for handheld devices, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially while gaming. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions to have efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource-hungry applications are running in the background, this will spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decrease or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.
Additionally, please update Windows, drivers, BIOS and the Armoury Crate utility software if outdated. Updates for the device are posted at: https://rog.asus.com/us/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-ally-2023/helpdesk_bios/. You may need to reconfigure your system, game, video and performance settings inside the Armoury Crate utility, ensure you don't go beyond the game's threshold. But learning how to use game controller joysticks and buttons and setting up pc games on this has been a learning curve for me.

Up to 16 gigs if ram in a device that small is something truly of the future.

Battery will not last. It gave me less than 2 hrs of game play on a full charge.

One of the first downloads was Elden Ring and it looks stunning. Very happy with it and I would recommend to any gamer.

Few bugs here and there but updates have been coming out smoothing out the handheld. I have owned the steam deck and coming from that to this i wouldnt want to go back.

Great for modern games and emulation

If You've never setup emulators on pc before there's a learning curve but not too difficult. If you want something that's user friendly i would go with steam deck
