    SD card reader failed. I've put less than 10 hours into it. The whole system is buggy. It wont let me restart or shut down most times, I have to force shut down. I'm outside of the return window like most people are, even though it hasn't been a month since release. avoid yourself the hassle of having to deal with this system.

      We are sorry to hear that your SD card reader has issues as well as the buggy system you have been experiencing. This is definitely not the norm and is not the type of quality to expect from ASUS products. Since you are outside of the return window we recommend returning the device to us through an RMA to get the issues resolved. Before doing so please advise us of the following information:

      1. SD card brand and model
      2. SD card capacity
      3. SD card is first time use?
      4. SD card worked on other devices after failing on the Ally?
      5. Thermal profile usually used > Silent / performance / turbo / manual
      If manual, please provide us with the fan curve.
      6. How much storage capacity has been used on the SD card

    It plays pretty good as an Xbox companion, but my MicroSD port didn't work no matter what I tried. Very unfortunate. Can't recommend it yet as I've heard many people have returned it for other reasons.

Please note that there will be updates for the ROG Ally in the future that will improve overall system performance and stability. Please verify if you currently have the latest BIOS installed: https://rog.asus.com/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-ally-2023/helpdesk_bios/

      If you already have the latest BIOS version installed and you are still experiencing the issue please provide us with the following information:
      1. SD card brand and model
      2. SD card capacity
      3. SD card is first-time use?
      4. SD card work on other devices after failing on the Ally?
      5. Thermal profile usually used > Silent / performance/turbo/manual
      If manual, please provide us with the fan curve.
      6. How much storage capacity has been used on the SD card

    Due to the design of the exhaust, it blows all the hot air past the MicroSD and kills the card, Ive had it for 2 weeks and the brand new SD card i had in it is dead.

    Just be aware the sd card reader on these suck hard. Ive owned mine for about 2 months and now i have to try playing the warranty game with asus.

    Worked fine for 9 or 10 months of light use. They ironed out the software more lately, which made it more usable. They still havent added a “back” button to the list of programmable shortcuts somehow. The left joystick stopped working correctly and only registers up and down, which requires a 2-4 week RMA. Happened while I was on a trip and was really enjoying some well earned downtime. Needless to say, really really disappointing and frustrating.

    To buggy, spend more time trying to run updates and or fine tune just to play with out crashing. Wish i could return it.. just speaking the truth.

    Spend the extra bucks for the ally X. Had to return this unit twice. Battery drains like crazy, system crash all the time… I got the X, no complaints.

    Its really hyped up to be a handheld gaming pc that can play at high settings but honestly its not. For the price, a 14 inch gaming laptop is right around the corner and is just as powerful.
