    I got this to play games that don't run on the steam deck. unfortunately windows doesn't translate well on a handheld.

    Where is the Gyro control? ASUS given up on it?

    Gyro/motion control was advertised for this device and it is physically capable of it, but ASUS has yet to implement software control of the gyroscope. On the Steam Deck, you can set the gyrpo to control either of the joysticks or work as a mouse, this is a game changer for accuracy in shooters, and a deal breaker if a handheld is lacking it. I will be checking for updates daily, but as it stands, you need 3rd party software to activate the gyro and even then it is very janky and doesn't work with all games. Very disappointing .

    Fine product but the community page on reddit and whatever nit are basjxsllg insulting and the community ruins the actual handheld experience.

    This item i know has some bugs since its new. But to spend 800 dollars on a device that everytime you try to play a game whether its steam game or xbox game and it just freezes and crashes is ridiculous. Also its super tedious to setup as well. Def going to return this item.

    DPI to screen needs attention

    I could not live with issues I found. The DPI could not align with the screen resolution. Window UI was way off, too big, too small. I attempted to change that in settings within OS to no usable results. Battery life was very good for eco mode. Another gripe was it's over stuffed graphic details for such a small screen. I would imagine cutting back maybe just a tad to make games more enjoyable. The device felt very comfortable.

ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.     The system is amazing, but the left bump wouldn’t work. I had to return it. I’ve seen so many issues like this posted online. ASUS needs to tighten the quality control.

    Very nice unit but my biggest issue is the joystick input lag. Very hard to play fps or anything fast pace. Until Asus resolves this issue, I cannot recommend it.

    Poor frame pacing due to bugged drivers

    Maybe you can play Hollow Knight or Stardew Valley if you want, but 3D are screwed up right now and stutter all over the place. This has been my second console with these issues so I know it's not a defective unit.

    Asus has a brilliant concept here, it was a great little thing but its largest downfall is windows in my opinion. W11H loves to override amd graphics settings causing issues like crashing and lagging when gaming. The fix is an hour song and dance with uninstalling drivers and reinstalling drivers to get it to play nice. You cant turn this function off unless you upgrade to W11P. Another thing is the charging issue thanks to its recent bios update. This bios update somehow bricked my system, Asus's responce was to rma or use my bby protection plan and exchange it... so I did but not for another Ally. I went something more linux based. Basically the new update killed the motherboard. No charging light, tested with multiple chargers both 45 and 65 watt and even left it plugged in for 10 hours and sadly shes dead jim. I really really wanted to like this thing I really did but I dont trust things that cant survive moderate use and then just die. Really is a sign when stores have a bunch of open box of these... buy your protection plan if you get one so you dont get stuck with it if it does die on you.

    Just installing steam games causes the unit to run at 95c before fully overheating and shut off. Unable to play anything due to this issue! Tried installing windows to fix it but couldnt even reinstall before overheating and refusing to turn on! I will be returning the device and wait till asus improves the thermals!

    How to break hardware with software 101

    Absolutely atrocious piece of wall plug for $70. Asus's marketing team needs a reality check. Just like how they realized how Z1 extreme is not the same as Z1 and it just goes to show to show how out of touch they are with reality. Zero Gravity...wow! ROG Ally is there most conflicted and contradicting device I have ever used in my life. When I say conflicted, I mean the conflict of features that get mixed up with windows , AMD whatever center its just a mess. Asus is not a soft ware company and can never be. It's quite simple because if you cannot distinguish or isolate your software from similar feature from windows and AMD control center then it's just a half baked garbage. I swear it's not about money , it's about time..do yourself a favor and avoid this and the ROG Ally. Its not about money it hoe much you time you will trying to optimize and fix these issues after paying a premium and which are someone else's mistakes. One example, on their native app...the warranty can be checked. There is serial number click on it to check your warranty expiration date. What happened instead Asus asks you what type of device are you using on the next screen. That should;d tell you what you are getting into.

    Asus totally botched the D-Pad

    The hardware itself is great and I've had no issues with anything at all other than the abysmal D-Pad Asus somehow thought was a good match to pair with a $700 gaming machine. I play mostly games with the D-Pad and it is basically unusable. You have a game that uses the down or up button frequently? Good luck because 95% of the time the D-pad will think you're also pressing either right and left as well. It's a shame that something as simple as a d-pad completely ruined this thing for me.

    Buy a laptop instead

    For $700 you can buy a laptop that performs light years better! Returning this to get a laptop with a 7600S GPU and a 17k series CPU with a 14" screen for the same price. Battery life will be about the same while gaming if not better. This little thing stryggles to run modern games at the native 1080p, most AAA games need to be set at 720p low settings while running balanced upscaling to get decent frame rates

    I know that they mean well, but it just isn’t user friendly and half the games won’t work. They need to be more like Apple.

    As a gaming device it is great...if something doesn't go wrong. Mine got stuck on the boot screen and had to be wiped...twice.
