This is definitely something I would recommend. With the right settings and softwares updated, this can run almost everything when it comes to gaming. Keep in mind that this is designed for handheld gaming and not something to be compared to a powerhouse PC. If you're coming from PC gaming, you should have no problem gaming on this but for players coming from just Console, it can be a bit confusing when you're gaming on the Ally. I would only recommend this device if you're planning on playing eSports titles or games that you can play on Windows but don't support on the Steam deck.

Great little windows handheld! Need to allow for updates, etc. I use it for retro gaming and Xbox gamepass and its works awesome. I am also using it docked with a monitor, BT keyboard and mouse for a Windows pc. WiFi 6 is super stable. Just downloaded some Steam games from the Summer Sale and Hogwarts looks and runs fantastic. I did buy a Sandisk 1TB sd card for additional storage. (512 GB is gone pretty fast). No issues so far.

Sd card reader still melts cards. asus software still full of bloat. windows drinks ram use titus debloat to get it back. suspend doesnt really suspend and drains battery. cant remap the armory crate buttons so where is my xbox or ps button then for steam? this can be fixed but its annoying to do so. 16gb ram? I would gladly have paid more for 32 so higher end games dont stutter and i can feed more to vram. also the faster 7500mhz would have been nice. coming back from suspend causes windows to think its not authorized till reboot sometimes. Asus cloud restore tells me to contact CS so i cant reinstall anymore. no amd driver support for z1 chipset yet… had to hack it to use the 7840U drivers and performance was better. back buttons suck. replace them asap. now for the good stuff. z1 is fast and plays games at higher rez than steamdeck and they look really good on that 120hz freesync display but Not OLED good. when docked that extra TDP really shines. Bottom line I think if the software was better i would have kept it. Tried ChimeraOS and it wasnt bad but some things were pretty jank.

Let me first say coming from many different owned handhelds regarding the steam deck and aya neo I prefer this one the best. The steam deck is like the apple of handhelds and the ally rog is the android of its type. Once you purchase the rog ally please take sometime regarding patience and updating trust me. This is not a plug and play mindset! However, this little beast plays just about anything and hardly has any limitations. Windows can be a little rough for small screens compared to a full fledge pc and monitor but you can do the same with this rog ally. If you are on the fence of buying this don’t be just do your own research and know glitches happen and it’s okay.

I bought an open box item and it has been working great. I definetely like that i can play games from any of the platforms. Very happy with the purchase.

This review is coming from a console gamer. So far I’m loving my ROG ally it took a couple of days to configure and optimize the system, but that’s because I’ve never owned a windows operating system. So I had to go through many YouTube videos to configure the best settings. The ROG Ally is one of the best gaming devices I’ve ever owned because of his portability and game variety. It does have a couple instances where the system completely crashes and you have to restart the system but overall it’s not that bad I’m sure with a few updates it will be the perfect gaming device.

Understand that you're getting a fully featured portable pc here but also that the battery life isn't ideal. It's a great device regardless and runs most things just fine.

Probably the best handled I've bought. Couldnt ask for more out of it. It's runs widows 11 flawlessly. Games run about as good as any console could if not better. Controllers on the device themselves are nice and don't make my hands hurt. A case could fix issues for some. Battery life is what you could expect out of a handled running windows. Last maybe an hour and half of constant gaming. A couple hours of your just browsing the Internet. Havnt had any issues with heat.

As a passionate gamer, I can't help but rave about the ASUS ROG Ally. This handheld is a true powerhouse! The design is sleek and premium, and the performance is top-notch with its Intel processor and NVIDIA graphics card. The display is gorgeous, and the cooling system works like a charm during long gaming sessions. The keyboard is fantastic, and I love the customizable RGB lighting. Connectivity options are abundant, and though battery life is decent, it's best to keep it plugged in for intense gaming. If you're serious about gaming and willing to invest, the ROG Ally is the way to go!

Able to play game pass and steam games on the go without any issues. Very well built and it seems like Asus has been pushing out plenty of updates. Highly recommend.

Since bestbuy customer service told me I can’t edit , delete my review this review will be for asus rog ally dock works better than expected it fix my problem with stupid oled steam deck piece of crap I couldn’t buy version 2 of ally I allready bought decide on steam deck before it was released if your having problems with game system ejecting your usb, memory card at random buy offices docking system it will should give the problem that is not windows operating system on hand held., Ally dock best last option I could decide buy fixed my problem valve was unable find answer for fix with ally dock best choice I have made to buy it works , charges system , reads usb devices

It’s easy to play and so relaxing and very light. Glad to have when I’m traveling and chilling at home. My mom bought it for my 8th grade graduation gift.

I like the device but battery life is horrible and some games you have to minimize graphics for it to run smoothly

I wanted to love this product, but after issues and issues I simply can NOT love it. The first Ally I bought had a faulty left joystick (yes I made sure all software and updates were up to date.) at times it would randomly input left and right on the joystick and then after a one night it completely stoppedregistering going left on the joystick. Exchanged it at bestbuy no big deal. Second Ally was working fantastic for a week until armoury crate never wanted to open up properly and the quick shortcut buttons would always appear blank (yes all software updates and all that were up to date, checked everyother if there was updates to make sure) epic games App won’t let you view your library on the Ally so why even download it. I wanted to love this thing but all the software issues and poor QC and slap in the face of a “stand” for 700 dollars is almost inexcuseable so i returned it hopefully the legion GO is a bit different

Very good portable pc basically great to play games away from home. One bad thing battery life

Overall, a very good handheld gaming machine for "desktop" games. Graphics are great. Controller is very nice as well. However you do need to be a little more delicate with the joystick button as it is a common issue with pressing too hard can break some connections. Battery life could be better, but 2.5 hours on the highest resolution isn't terrible. I've purchased a laptop battery pack to extend the life x3 for long trips. So now I can take my games everywhere!
