I was in the position of needing a small easy laptop for school and work and also needed to update to a modern gaming system to be able to play with all my friends on the newest generation consoles. It has worked fantastically, got a usb c hub and have been using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for when I need to do school or work on it. If you like powerful computers and are alright with some unconventional solutions to make it easier than this is absolutely for you!

Love it. Perfect with Xbox gamepass and xbox play anywhere. Battery is terrible, but i keep it plug in. Can also run switch emulator.

Great for gaming on the go and I do photo editing.

Bought it as a birthday gift. Out of the box the handheld was really hard to use. It’ll restart several times while it updates windows even tho the ipdate finished. After all that the games i was able to play (the sims, world of tanks, forza) were not fully compatible with the controls. Screen was very hard to use on the games also. Tried switching around settings for controls and nothing helped. Battery life was also pretty bad. Id rather spend a little more and buy a gaming pc.

I use this primarily to play TFT on the go. It works perfectly. My only gripe is that it doesn't have any USB Type A connectors to easily connect a mouse dongle. You'll need to get a dock that connects via USB C that has an extra USB A slot in order to connect a mouse. But in terms of regular mouse navigation, the sticks do a pretty decent job. All in all I like it and feel it's been worth the buy.

I have not had any issues with my unit, it's a bit buggy on occasion as expected for brand new hardware. But there have been loads of updates since release that have taken care of most issues I noticed. I did take out my SD card as a precaution after hearing about issues ppl were having, so can't speak to that. Overall great unit and makes my switch feel like a cheap toy.

A perfectly acceptable windows handheld system. Handles most everything flawlessly graphics wise,. The only real drawback is the learning curve to set up your controls to handle games that are more suited to keyboard controls a minor glitch where you have to force the keyboard the first time you use it. Lighter than you would expect for something it's size, and seems to handle the heat build up very well. I would say it's a worthy competitor to the steam decks.

I probably should have returned this, but didn’t get the chance to. There are deadzone issues with the joysticks, so if you mostly play FPS games, or any game that requires you to aim, such as AC, I would not recommend this. There are workarounds using 3rd party software, but the fact that ASUS has done nothing to fix this is really annoying. If you play games that don’t require aiming, then this is fine. Also, there was a performance drop with the latest bios update. If you can look past that, the graphics are decent, the battery life is about what you would expect, and it’s still better than nothing when it comes to handheld gaming.

So i dont write reviews often but i figured i would now that i found a handheld that is actually worth the money. So ive had the steam deck and lenovo legion go and had to return both of them. Not having vrr is such a deal breaker and every handheld should have this. The steam deck the gpu just couldn't keep up. The legion go was just way too big and heavy. Also trying to get that amazing 1600p screen to look good on hames was inpossible with the gpu. Everyrhing about tor rog ally z1x is just perfect. Screen size resolution z1x everything. At the sale price right now at $450 it just can not be beaten. Do yourself a favor and pick this up now

Windows 11 is a nightmare to setup, Asus Crate SE features work with they want. 319 BIOS update is automatic for anyone not somewhat computer-littered, Flash drive issues seems wide-spread. All that being said. The performance for this device will surprise you. Most games will run 1080p medium to high settings between 30-50FPS on even newer games like Hogwarts and Cyberpunk (at 30-watt turbo on adapter). Connect a type-c to type-a bridge with a HDMI port and have a full-fledged desktop experience, Ultimately, be patients and hope Asus recent issues with customer service PR and hardware doesn't carry over to the Ally. If you have a Steam Deck. the software definitely makes up for the lack of power in comparison. I'd stick with the Deck but prefer the Ally.

I honestly dont even use my pc anymore. After getting this rog ally im glued to it, its plug and play truly. Piece of advice, max performance needs that turbo and for turbo u need to be connected to the wall so invest in long wires and 65W capable chargers or banks! Love this thing currently doing emulation! Definitely worth every Penny!

Got the open box excellent condition. Didnt come with OG box but the device itself was like new. Overall to me it seems like the best pc handheld as it lets you use not only steam but xbox game pass and comes with free 3 months. The steam deck is cool but you cant play that and most games run even a bit better on the rog ally

Its a fun little toy at first bought open box excellent condition got it home and one of the joy sticks wouldnt work brought it back and just got the new one. Alot of fun to play my steam games on battery life kinda sucks but i mean. Also dont download games on your hotspot lol

Great device overall !!!!! If planed as using as pc external keyboard is highly recommended.. it doesn’t hold battery charge for very long but it does charge very fast and works while charging. Awesomely setup If using for mostly gaming… however I’m still trying to figure out how to project it onto a bigger screen.

I have only had the ROG Ally for a few weeks and I love it. I do wish it came with more memory, however it is very easy to upgrade. The performance and power of the Ally really surprised me. The graphics and framerate are outstanding. I can't compare it to the Steam Deck, (don't have one) but decided to purchase the ROG Ally due to it's processor and resolution.

Best thing ever for Diablo 4. Will run Warzone but I don't think it's fast enough for it. Mine didn't get hot like people told me it would. If your wife/gf doesn't want you too play on cpu or console this is the way out to be with them all time and still be able to play whenever you want ;) well worth it might be over priced but if you have the money get it! GL I love it

I personally love my Ally,more so than the Deck. It will take you some time to get everything how you want it, just like any other device. My reason for liking the Ally over the Deck is the performance and the fact that it doesnt have problems with anti-cheat like the Deck does due to it being Linux based. Plus the fact you can just walk into Bestbuy and pick one up is a big perk.
