I have put considerable time into this machine already and I am very happy. My Pros: Plays all sorts of games without hassle (depends on whoever uses it) 1080P in the correct settings runs great at 15W and awesome at 30w respective tdps Adjustable control settings per game allows you to customize your ranges for the sticks. 120hz, you'll only use this for low demand games, I tested it and is awesome. Speakers have great sound for a machine that size. Touch screen is superb, you get the same responsiveness as on your phone. Wifi 6E, if you have a capable access point, you can potentially saturate 1gbps (My case and its great) The feel of the controller itself feels good, but definitely tweak your stick values per game. The battery lasts depending on game and demand so this to me is acceptable. Long power cable Device is relatively quiet in full demand Contrary to the rumors, I have not had issues with the device heating my hands while playing or damaging my sd card. I have a 1tb in there and is working perfectly from day 1. Great for lunch time gaming. Cons: The ergonomics or holding the device are too thin for my hands. Will require significant debloating on Windows and sometimes to use a dock. Not meant for kids (Not my case but for those people who do have kids) You'll have to have it connected for long gaming sessions. Controller is not as firm an robust as the deck but can be tweaked. No track pads (who would play games designed for mouse and kb on this anyway) Note I also have a top tier deck and this blows it out of the water.

Coming from a Steam Deck, there are some pros and cons. Pros- Plays almost anything Fast and powerful Cons- Software needs work Battery should have been bigger I would recommend this but know that you will have to do a little work to make everything work well. If you want a console like experience, steam deck is your best bet.

Honestly as a father of 2, and a full time store manager at AT&T This has been one of the best purchases I’ve made in awhile. To have basically a mini pc in the palm of my hand is insane. I’m still learning a lot but the possibilities are endless. My only issues are very basic such as not coming with the dock, the battery is mid, and the internal storage isn’t the best. But other than that it’s about a 9.5/10 from me.

This is a good strong handheld system for those who would want to play pc titles on the go. The battery life does run down extremely quick when playing games. Anyways I enjoyed playing on this and the fact rdr2 runs at a high frame rate on medium/high settings is incredible.

The ASUS ROG Ally is quite literally one of the greatest and neatest portables to hit the handheld market since the introduction of the Gameboy and competing brands like Sega Game gear that followed years later. This device screams performance, remains cool to the touch during hours of play and plays all my favorite games new and old. The crisp screen and AMD RIS technology creates a beautiful image on screen with the right amount of brightness. The Armoury Crate integrated button is one of my favorite quick access buttons because I can control everything from performance to display resolution even while playing mid-game! You can use this device on battery, you can dock this device to your friends TV and connect a XBOX BT controller and play anywhere. I game on PC daily. I run a dual 3090 setup and play Cyberpunk on max at 4K regularly. I love the fact that I can get the same image quality (although at 1080p) on a tiny screen that I get off my 2.5K PC Gaming rig. The machine boots directly into Windows 11 and installing games are an absolute breeze once you setup your Wi-Fi connection preferences. Using Armory Crate you can install apps like Epic Games, Xbox and other gaming services that you may already subscribe too. Once you sign in you can use the touch screen to select your games for install. I added a 1 TB T-Flash to the expansion port so I can install more games. This machine is sure to set off a trend of competition in the next few years. Get one today!

I purchased the ROG Ally as an on-the-go gaming when I am traveling or out of the house. I mostly enjoy console gaming, so having a Windows portable gaming device was why I purchased this since it can play a lot more games than typical handheld devices. First, the screen and overall gaming experience are amazing all the way up to AAA titles, as well as, emulation. I have been able to play a lot of older titles that I used to play in the arcade years ago. The only real downside of this device is obviously the battery life. When playing some highly intensive games I can probably get about a little over an hour of gameplay before needing to plug in, but when playing older titles I can usually stretch that to around 2 hours. I think a future iteration of this device would be great if it had an optimized version of Windows or possibly a custom OS that allowed for the freedom of titles but with a less power-hungry OS. I did so some Windows optimization tweaks and removed a lot of the bloatware that generally comes with Windows and was able to increase the overall gaming time on the ROG Ally and I wish ASUS did this out of the box.

I love it but the battery runs out quick. I have 2 - 3 hours of play time sometimes only 1 hour if running a AAA game. The graphics are amazing and screen is good but the main reason I bought was the portability. If I always have to leave it charging then what’s the point

I was overjoyed as soon as I unboxed the ROG Ally. It has a perfect size dsiplay for handheld gaming and it runs on windows which makes it perfect to take on other tasks besides gaming like Aimlabs and what all in one system. I was especially interested in the specs. It was full HD and 120hz refresh rate with I believe was also a 1ms response time. Any hardcore would love gaming on this handheld and not have to worry about specs. ASUS really delievered when they introduced a handheld with this specs to game on the go. Makes up for gaming on the go! If there were 10 stars to rate it. I would do just that. Get you a ROG Ally if you frequently travel. Its portable superiority!

its a great unit that allows you to actually play on the go. the battery life isnt the greatest, but it lets me sit in bed and play my favorite games while taking care of my newborn which is exactly what i wanted. it plays most games at decent settings at 60+ fps while laying in bed or sitting on the couch. Its a little bit funny to get going, but if youre already a pc user then it should be no problem at all. love it.

The ROG Ally is an awesome device when it works, allowing easy playing on the go of nearly your entire PC library (with the exception of maybe some of the most cutting-edge games, though it can probably run those at low settings). It also delivers great value docked (docks purchased separately) and can target your handheld and home-based gaming needs very well. That said, the Ally isn't without its issues. The Windows 11 interface can be cumbersome to manage, and all the hiccups of PC gaming come with this device, including cleaning up files, optimizing performance, and fiddling with controls. There are also some well-documented technical issues with the Ally as of this review, the most notorious being the early death of its SD card reader. If you choose an Ally over a Steam Deck, you'll be trading convenience and ease of use for a larger breadth of games and more performance (with some added liability). Gauge your needs and comfort level and choose wisely!

I play red dead redemption on this and it plays great. The battery life is a stinker though and you’ll want to be plugged in to wall charger or have a 25k battery bank if you’re on the go. I pair with Jsaux travel case bc it makes attaching a battery bank easy. Killswitch is probably nicer but doesn’t have that option unless you get a third party attachment.

Good gaming handheld, much higher quality than a switch for example. The screen is nice. I use this exclusively at home, so I always have the charger plugged in, which eliminates the battery life problem. The only problems I have had have been intermittent internet connectivity problems, and docking. I bought a dock on Amazon for $30, and the docking experience had been almost a deal breaker. Don't expect to be able to plug this in and use it like you would a switch. It is a Windows PC, so if you don't have a mouse and keyboard to operate it from your couch, good luck. Also I could only get the audio to work half the time while docked, it took a few tries to get a playable game running. You have to launch the game and get it all set up and in-game, then dock it. Overall it works well as expected, just the docking had been terrible, and the internet a few times. I actually tried to return this after 17 days, but they have a 14 day return policy. It is a lot of money, so make sure you are willing to part with ~800 dollars for the system, a case, and the dock.

I LOVE my ROG Ally. It plays my emulators fantastically (even Switch emulation!) The device is responsive and glitches are few and far in betweeen. For someone who sometimes travels for work and mainly uses a desktop, this serves my on-the-go and on the couch gaming effortlessly. Only knock I would give is the battery life, but I don't think this product is worse than others in this form factor!

I’ve had the Rog Ally for a couple weeks now, and love it. I originally purchased the Steam Deck, but Linux was way too comolicated for me to figure out. I got tired of having to watch youtube vidoes just to do something simple like mod The Sims. Enter the Rog Ally-I’m much more comfortable with Windows as we use it for work, and I used to have an asus computer. This little mini computer is powerful, and I can easily play The Sims anywhere, and modding is so easy as well. The battery life could be improved, I do find myself having to leave it plugged in while I play. Which should be fine even for travel, since each plane seat has their own plug now adays. Overall, I’ve wanted a hanheld for The Sims for years, so for me this is worth the money. It’s also a lot smaller and fits more comfortably in my hands then the Steam Deck.

It’s amazing for traveling or laying in bed, definitely not worth if you have your own pc like me but it’s pretty awesome. The battery life is definitely the downfall of the device. There are also a ton of UI bugs currently that force me to restart my device but constant updates are coming out to fix the issues.

Battery life isn't a issue and screenis amazing. I upgraded tje Ssd to a 1tb took maybe 4 mins. Asus has a windows cloud recovery that install windows back with all the Ally drivers.

So I’ve always wanted one of these, even before they were an actual thing. I love my pc games but much prefer to play on a handheld system and this has finally made it possible! It’s a pretty straightforward setup just like a pc and it’s easy to use between the onboard controller and the touch screen ability. The battery life isn’t great so if you intend on taking it out with you make sure to bring a decent sized battery bank or try to scope out spots that have outlets near you so you can plug it in. If you dont want to deal with upgrading the ssd or paying the $ for a micro sd card (the ones that work the best with this device are pricey and kind of hard to find) then I suggest getting the 1tb option. I haven’t had any issues with games running on this but I mostly play stuff like Fallout, ( Doom Dark Ages will play but it’s not a good experience). All in all I wanted something I could sit on the couch and play while my husband sits next to me and games on the xbox, and something I could take to work with me to play in between clients, this does that! I’m no longer strapped to my desk in my office at home trying to balance time with my family and gaming, or trying to adapt my work schedule to have time to game!

Extremely reliable and fast handheld. Easy to setup & able to run games you wouldn't expect. Elden Ring on the road? Yes. WoW on the road? Yes. LoL on the road? Yes. Outside of that, can be plugged into a display, with a mouse and keyboard. Now you have a PC with power I would compare to something between a PS4 and a PS5, a PS4.5. Easy to upgrade storage by just putting an SD card in the slot. Really nice purchase in my experience.
