One of the best Gaming Devices I owned, i have been away from gaming for couple years now despite owning very high spec PCs and laptops, but life and work is keeping me busy. With the Asus Ally i was able to get back on gaming easily and on the spot, very nice display( wish it was Oled tho) and overall nice controls. I really like that it's using windows too, as i can access my OneDrive files and do quick updates here and there anytime i need to, it's my mini PC.

This thing is awesome, solid build and great performance. I was able to play Cyberpunk on it with no lag. Downside, any games that require accuracy like shooter games is very difficult to play.

I needed a PC for school but rarely use laptops for personal use. I wanted more utility so I picked up this device to double as a handheld gaming system and a PC. It does everything I need it to. I can run regression analysis in Excel and play Starfield on Xbox GamePass. Its the perfect device for me

I love this thing. It was a little rough setting it up and updating it. Once that was done this thing runs everything very well, and quietly. Battery life isn't the best when running AAA games but still a few hours. A nice battery Pack the give 65W really helps.

The ROG Ally is a great on the go gaming system for those who dont have a gaming laptop. This console is fully supported Windows 11 PC and I can install other gaming apps on here. I was able to install Final Fantasy 14 and play it on the ROG Ally with no issues. I did upgrade the SSD on it to get more storage space.

Very good for when you are on the go or just want to sit on the couch to play your PC games. I would not personally aim for high GB games, because you will run out of space so quickly. Singleplayer games shine here. Dead By Daylight is my main game, and it runs amazingly.

I have a steam deck and i can easily say that the performance of the ally is amazing, while the battery life isnt as good as the steam deck, i still find myself taking my ally over my steam deck when going on a lengthy trip, and if you have the ally pluged in or docked the performance is far greater than i expected initially especially in 1080p, definitely a good buy.

best handheld gaming device for the money

for $50 more than the top spec steam deck, you're getting so much hardware for your money. a much better screen, higher resolution, higher refresh rate, double the CPU cores, more and newer GPU cores - all this amounts to about 50% more performance when compared to the steam deck. @720p, this thing will get 65-70fps compared to steam deck's 40fps in red dead redemption 2, and 45fps @1080p. if own a steam deck and always wanted more power, this thing is for you!

I could not wait for this item to release. I have an ROG gaming laptop that I absolutely love and have never regretted purchasing. When this was announced I knew I would purchase on day one. The first couple of weeks were great and I loved playing Xbox game pass games as well as PC version of games like Overwatch and League of Legends. As time went on update after update I noticed that things were starting to get a little laggy. It got so bad at one point that I ended up having to factory reset the whole unit to see if starting from scratch would bring back my joy. The unit performed very well overall but over time starting again to lag on certain things. I was never able to achieve close to 120hz frame rate on games. Sound is absolutely incredible. I think this item was a little premature or still has some time to work out the bugs. The concept of it is great and I hope Asus continues to improve this category as I am a big fan. I ended up returning it in the long run due to the issues I faced and that in order to make this perform I would need to add more and more money to it to get anywhere close to my gaming laptop. I would recommend it you don’t have a gaming laptop already and are wanting something that is truly portable.

    ROG two thumbs up!

The ROG ally is the perfect middle ground between the Steamdeck and the Legion Go. The 120hz screen makes playing PC games a joy, the size is great for easy travel, the hall joysticks are very nice and produce almost zero drift. The main thing missing is a track pad. Navigating windows is a bit of a pain but ROG has their own software overlay that uses maining the control pad.

The best purchase i've ever made. Solid 1080p 60fps dedicated gaming, Driver Support is awesome and the only gripes i have is the speaker could be better and the battery life is trash however it is a handheld PC so you'd need a 65w portable charger. The only thing i'd suggest over this is the Legion if you really want Joy Cons,

If you want to game on the go and play pretty much anything out there this is the way to go. It feels go in the hand, and it's well made. The screen is a good size and looks good even if it's not OLED.

It’s really nice being able to play mostly any game on one device. The battery life could be better but if you don’t plan on traveling with it then keeping it charged shouldn’t be too big a deal. The charger reaches pretty far and charges fast. It’s also a nice device to use just as a computer that and it’s kinda easy setting it up.

    Handheld Windows device

Good handheld Windows gaming machine. You will have to fiddle with game and machine settings to get the best performance. Some people will expect more of a console experience and be disappointed with this device. Battery life isn't the best, but with the performance of the device and the size that is normal.

Overall it is is a great device. It has issues such as crashing occasionally and poor battery life. But keep in mind the 'handheld gaming PC' is still relatively new technology. So there are bound to be issues with any of the new handhelds. Personally I thought the device felt uncomfortable in my hands after a while gaming.

Out of the box it can be a little troublesome to get set up but this is an absolutely amazing machine. The only drawback is the limited battery life. Playing on the go, you might want to be close to a power outlet. You can also play around with certain settings to get longer battery life. From playing current AAA games to the classics this thing does it all!

    Zero to PC Gamer instantly

I’m not a Windows guy—you can call me an Apple fanboy if you want, but frankly i have never had any reason to own a PC. It’s a simple fact, however, that Macs are not at all adept at serious gaming. And there has never been anything I’d want to play badly enough to spend over $1,000 on for a bloated hot-air genersting glowing box. So the ASUS ROG Ally is aimed directly at me. I’m a console gamer who wants to play PC titles with decent if not very good performance that gives me the option to connect to a larger screen and whatever peripheral i need. I want something thst takes up zero desktop or floor space because its more likely to be in my backpack than sitting in my apartment. And i want it to just work—i get that its a computer and not handhelfd cartridge-loading mobile gaming device, so my expectations are less than a Steam Deck or a Switch, but i also have no patience for optimizing and tweaking settings and purchasing parts as more experienced gamers go on about with their gaming rigs. Quite simply, the Ally let me have a fairly powerful Windows PC in a nice handheld gaming case, and i have to use my brain to get games on it and play. Easily done. It has made me instantly able to play a galaxy of PC games id never even considered before simply because the price of entry—in dollars and in hassle—was too steep. Now, for about the price of a nice console gaming setup, i can reliably play games sithout taking out a loan or having a resource hog live rent free in my home. If you’re a confident tech person (e.g. know how to install things in Windows) who just couldnt imagine building a dedicated PC for the games you play for fun and not for the sake of testing the limits of your hardware, this may well be the entry point for you.
