This is a very cool system. It runs games great screen is really clear. The only down side is the battery life. You almost cant play it without having it plugged in. If they could get the battery life down it would be a 5 star for sure

This product is really good! I haven't played on my computer since then, it feels really good being able to play while I'm lying on the bed. One thing that I have to say: if you're not good at computers, you're going to have some issues after a while. This is not a plug & play device, it requires some tweaking so you can get the best out of it. If you're willing to learn Windows and you like computers then go ahead. I've been able to play some MMOs like New World, WoW, ESO; and of course some other games like Euro Truck, Bus Simulator, which work great with the gyroscope. For RPGs it is amazing, I haven't had any issues with any game so far. * Cons: - Battery life is not too good, although I don't mind because I play plugged to the charger all the time. Those 30W in turbo require constant power. - Windows, Armoury Crate and AMD can give you some headaches if you're not a regular computer person. * Pros: - Beautiful 1080p screen, it's not an OLED but it looks truly beautiful. - Performance is decent enough to let you play whatever you want to play at least on 30-60 FPS. Less demanding games can hit way above that.

    Better than steam deck

So much better than the steam deck, sold it the day after receiving the ally. Windows can be a hassle sometimes but the screen is amazing and plays most triple A games around the medium settings. Battery is terrible but that’s the only negative

Great little mobile gaming machine after you dump Windows 11 and install Bazzite or SteamOS. Plays all the games I want to play at a decent frame rate with appropriate visual settings. I don't play alot of fps games and no online games so the battery last a decent amount of time for me. The unit is relatively light and easy to sit back with on the couch or chair and play games while waiting for laundry to finish washing or drying.

Capable device for the money but SD reader broke

Very handy device to own. I use it frequently as a mobile computer with keyboard and mouse accessories. Gaming on this is convenient and sufficient in performance depending on your settings and the type of game played. I use remote streaming play features with steam on my desktop computer and it works well. The one negative feedback is that my devices and card reader stopped working like many others having experienced, there are no real solutions and warranty repair is your only option, however it could happen again and again. I decided to purchase a USB split dongle so I can use a portable SSD to store extra games while playing and charging.

    Literally perfect

This Handheld is literally the best gaming item I have bought it forever, don't get me wrong I love my Xbox series X and PC, but they ease of literally just grab&go play is amazing! Asus really put out a great product especially since it's a windows interface, the capabilities are just right for those gamers that want full customization as well as capabilities.. I got smooth gameplay with good frames for a hand held (60fps pretty consistently), the ability to change the wattage output higher for those tripleA titles or lower for the indie games makes a huge difference. You can upgrade the storage without voiding the warranty (very easy install or even easier in-store with the total tech membership [totally worth it]). I bought one for myself in June 2023 and have done soooo many things to it but to be honest haven't got to play it as much as I would like because my GF who isn't much of a gamer is literally obsessed with it (I ended up buying her one too). All in all I got a great product and my GF is gaming along with me more often! #MustBuy #GetTotalTech

Overall I think this is a great device. My only complaint with it is the battery life, but since I play it at home or in my car, I’ve always got a charger nearby anyway. I wish these handheld PCs gave us 1TB instead of half that. Other than that this thing is phenomenal.

Better than the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck

I am blown away with the Asus ROG Ally. I am coming from the Switch OLED and the Steam Deck and I can honestly say the ROG Ally is better than both. It is a little bit of a learning curve because we have to remember, this is essentially a laptop without a keyboard...but after a few hours of updates and just basic practice of using the device, you will end up loving it. For those of you who have the XReal AR glasses, yes - it works flawlessly. Do not listen to the fanboy Steam Deck haters. I myself will be selling my Steam Deck because of the ROG Ally.

    Handheld Desktop/Laptop

Just what I needed and wanted. Perfect for playing games away from my main desktop and I’m still able to do everything I want on my main computer on my Ally. Emulation, modding older games, as well as playing a couple of AAA games is neat. I don’t see this machine replacing my gaming desktop completely, but it is an ease of access that allows me to use my computer without being stuck to a desk and worrying about a laptop’s air vents from being blocked and causing overheating.

Powerful and Portable. It gets the job done. But, don't mistaken it to be on par with an actual gaming PC. I don't game heavily so this is perfect for me.

Asus Rog vs Steam deck my opinions.

I have the high end Steam deck and seen that Asus Rog Ally 7 was available for preorder at Bestbuy. The selling points for me were better specs, better graphics, and that it runs Windows 11 vs Linux right from the get go. So far I haven't been disappointed. The game I like to play on Steam runs on the Rog but not on the Steam deck, so big win there. Secondly I like having a windows based system that is a handheld. This will take some getting use to in order to use windows the way I do on a P.C.. Doubt that will ever happen but atleast its an alternative for portable Windows, and my guess is Windows runs better on this device vs Steam deck. I dont plan to test this theory. I also think the feel of the Rog is a little better vs the Steam deck, possibly because it is lighter but maybe its the control placement or both. Both systems are very good portables but I feel the Rog can be used more easily for more things outside of Steam. The batteries on both systems seem to drain quickly but Im always sitting or laying down when I use these devices so as long as Im near a plug Im good. Internal Storage capacity is also bad on both 512gb is not enough nowdays but there are options to add more space on both. Until the Steam deck 2 comes around it appears the Asus Rog Ally will be my go to handheld.

I also, own the Steam deck. While I understand that the Windows experience is not as easy in some aspects as Steam OS there are other aspects where it's easier. Installing alternative launchers doesn't require a YouTube video. You just download the launcher from the website and go. The screen is way better than the Decks passable 800p screen. The performance is better but it's not a massive boost especially at 1080p. The Ally is not as comfortable but it's alright the software feels cobbled together. However once you get into a game it's amazing! The beautiful vrr screen at higher framerates is awesome when it's possible. Mw2 plays around 80fps and looks great! The battery life isn't great but I don't know when I won't be near an outlet or have a battery bank when gaming for hrs. The buttons and sticks are fine. The sound is amazing. The sd card issues need to be fixed though. The bios issue was fixed so you can update if you want. I love it. I have no issues with my unit.

An excellent handheld that requires setup effort

The Ally is a handheld Windows laptop. As such, its setup is exactly like setting up a laptop (minus a keyboard, so use the M1 + Dpad Up combo to bring it up when typing in your WiFi password). To some, that will be a problem because it lacks the Steam Deck's and Nintendo Switch's smooth out of box experience. If you are used to Windows setup, you'll be right at home here. After initial setup, you'll have to use the various PC launchers to get to your games. Armory Crate SE will try its hardest to replace them, but it's both extremely limited and very buggy. Like when the D Pad registers multiple presses, making it impossible to select the game or app you are aiming for. Just get used to the touch screen, the virtual touchpad, or the Desktop Mode controller config. So yeah, there are lots of little things that make the Ally feel unpolished. Some of that is on Asus, some on Microsoft. For all its issues, I still absolutely love this thing. It's easy to hold for long periods of time. It plays the games that the Steam Deck can't (whether non-verified or requires some hoop jumping to get running). If you already have a Steam Deck it's a tough sell to get this thing as well, but if you want to get into handheld PC gaming then your choice will likely come down to this and the Steam Deck.

This system comes with its flaws, like many other things when they first come out. But what I really don't like about it the most... is asus's lack of communication with the community and the amount of software problems there are. I will say it is comfy, built quality is nice, and speakers and screen are amazing! But battery life is not good and it still needs some work done. I would have preferred the steam deck if I knew these problems would come with the rog ally. Be awarw of the 15 day return period. If you wanna test it out before deciding between the steam deck or the ally, definitely figure that out whithin 15 days. Other than this, i do really like the system. It has much more preformance than the deck, but at the cost, i don't think it's worth the extra money.

I got this specifically to play PS exclusives, indie games on steam and to emulate my switch and ps3 collection. Needless to say that I am not disappointed. This thing runs everything you can throw at it. Battery’s a bit sucky but that’s the tradeoff and its also a lot more portable than the legion go.

I was overjoyed as soon as I unboxed the ROG Ally. It has a perfect size dsiplay for handheld gaming and it runs on windows which makes it perfect to take on other tasks besides gaming like Aimlabs and what all in one system. I was especially interested in the specs. It was full HD and 120hz refresh rate with I believe was also a 1ms response time. Any hardcore would love gaming on this handheld and not have to worry about specs. ASUS really delievered when they introduced a handheld with this specs to game on the go. Makes up for gaming on the go! If there were 10 stars to rate it. I would do just that. Get you a ROG Ally if you frequently travel. Its portable superiority!

I currently own both the steam deck and the asus rog ally. The steam deck is what got me back into pc gaming and the asus rog ally is keeping me with pc gaming. The ally has a rough setup process that definitely needs work as you need to update software from various places (windows my asus and armory crate). However after the setup was done I haven’t had many issues. There are definitely software bugs I have found that are certainly annoying. Some requiring a restart of the armory crate and some required firmware updates. Even with all the the screen and size for me are a perfect upgrade for me. If you are new to pc gaming then be aware or the not so user friendly introduction. If youre looking for a switch pro system well this ain’t it. If you are looking for a pc handheld you can use game pass steam epic etc with a great screen and mediocre battery life well you should give this a try. Just know the limitations going in as it’s not a cheap purchase.

this is an amazing device. Once the setup and up dates are complete its pretty much a portible gaming pc. Been playing diablo 4, Skyrim, Fallout 4 from the comforts of where ever i want. Yes the battery llife is short (about an hour depending on what game you are playing but for the performance and the ability to play out doors , in bed ....its all good
