The Ally is a handheld device that runs a desktop (and/or laptop) OS. There’s clunkiness there for sure. The battery life is LOL. But gosh darn it if I don’t love it! I’m playing all my games on it at high FPS. The controls feel great. I love being to launch Steam, Xbox, Epic and Battlenet from the same device while laying back on the couch. Also, ASUS keeps cranking out software fixes/updates so it feels more and more streamlined (maybe too generous of a word for now). In sum, the device has issues but, like Joo Lee, it does the thing. If you’re looking for a gaming handheld then this is an excellent option

Been using this device for a while now and can honestly say that it’s fantastic, it handles AAA games like Elden Ring very well for a handheld. 4 stars because the battery is a little short and if you plan on using this with out plugging it in then it might be worth going for the new model.

I got this console 2 months ago and since then I been Investing money! The console overheat so wasted your money getting an SD card it already burn mine in less than 24 hours… I had to buy an internal memory not cheap at all! Then after that the Right Joystick stopped working out of nowhere!! Now I have to spend more money! Anyways I would consider spending 700 to 1000 dollars on a console that keeps braking and don’t get me wrong I love it but It comes with TOO MANY ISSUES!

Awesome value for what it costs. Being able to play basically all P.C. games while being mobile is great. It powerful on its own for mobile play and then you also have the option for an eGPU when at home and want more power.

The ALLY runs windows which means you will run into a lot of finicky stuff with the OS. Sometimes the controllers work, sometimes you have to get them to work. Runs games well and has a pretty good screen. Personally, extremely uncomfortable to hold in my hands and has very poor battery life.

Awesome little hybrid device where you can use it as handheld or desktop when docked. I wish they come in color black instead of just white. The chassis get dirty easily. + The screen is nice and bright. + Fan noise is quieter than most gaming laptops i have touch. + Amazing performance for its size. - The included "stand" is a joke. - It is bigger than expected. Recommend checking in person first - Very poor battery life out of the box. - Only one USBC port

Boot and load times are super fast. Graphics are excellent and the screen size is perfect for mobile gaming. Device is a tiny bit heavy which is surprising with such a short battery life. About 1 hour of Diablo 4 on about 40% screen brightness and graphics settings turned down. Wouldn't want to hold it much longer than that anyway. I turned off the distracting button LED lights to try to conserve some power. The battery life sort of kills it for me, but it's still good for a short round of play unplugged.

This is a really fun device. I’ve been enjoying this for the month or so. I love the versatility of this handheld (my friends call it an LS Swapped Switch). Battery life is less than desirable… give it a couple hours at best and less than an hour at worst. That would be the only thing I would change, a larger battery. Screen is creat, controlls feel great, love gyro control (got used to that on my switch). Love it!

This can play a lot of my steam library without any issues. Battery life is pretty short but otherwise is great. Can also get loud with the fans but if you have headphones in it’s fine.

On my 2nd one. Gonna start with the bad. I'm the first 1. Everything was working fine. Only problem i had is one time it completely crashed and deleted everything. Had to go into bios and re download the asus software. After that it was great, just the analog stick messed up. On my 2nd one which i will return shortly for a replacement, but do keep in mind i booby this one open box in "excellent condition" it wouldbof been great saving $100 except for the fact on this model as soon as you enterva sd card, no matter if a high speed, new or one with games ore installed, the device will just literally freeze. Once you remove the sd card everything works fine again. If it wasnt for this one deal breaker for me, I'd of kept this one but sadly it looks like I'm going to just have to give up and extra $100 for a new unit and hope their are no problems with this one. Luckily i have a total tech membership. Still in my opinion better than a steam deck and thats the reason i sold mine for this. For the fact i can play what i want when i want with slightly better performance. To give the steam deck credit, it never once crashed on me amd everything worked as simple as plug and play so i give it props. To bad its on Linux and not all launchers, games, anti cheat or apps such as game pass work on it with out having to do some YouTube research.

Set up was a breeze and it is amazing to have access to any and all games on the go with a dedicated system. The battery is its only downside as the power consumption is quite high depending on the game, but for the price between the Ally X and this, the battery size is perfect.

This is a super convenient gaming device that I take with me everywhere. It’s run everything I’ve thrown at it well. I bought a microSD to expend storage.

Super loghtweight amd easy to use for hours. Powerful enough to run all my games with great framerate and the screen its very good as well

Decent performance, needs more memory and a larger battery. Runs older titles and indie games flawlessly, but it could be a lot better playing newer games if it just had a little bit more RAM.

[Employee of bestbuy] Great picture quality and refresh rate, pretty much every game and emulator I have thrown at it has worked with little to no issues. Sure, the battery life is on the shorter side, but being able to get two to three hours of gaming out of it, depending on the game of course, is more than enough for someone who can only get an hour or two of gaming in before going about their day. For a newcomer to the PC handheld scene, it does the job pretty well.

Love this handheld for the 120hz to the beautiful LCD and the fact that it’s a PC in your hands is crazy. To take full advantage of this handheld you’d need a hotspot or mifi with you so you can use it as a PC. You can buy the dock and hook it up to a monitor and controller and get decent FPS. There is plenty of room for improvements like ram, storage and especially battery at during preformance mode. Better then a steam deck but if you own steam games then stick with what you got. I am using this since 3 months. This is my compact powerful computer. This has powerful processor, good RAM and graphics card. I use it for games, video editing, movie making, presentations etc. This little computer renders high graphic games withoutany issues, most of the laptops struggle to render such games. This is travel friendly. I carry it wherever i go. I connect to monitor or TV for video editing and movie making. For the price this is simply superb. I like ASUS products. This is my second ASUS product. Kudos to ASUS

I love this hand held gaming device. I can play my games remotely. I have a portal as well but the online multiplayer was choppy using my PlayStation portal. I didn’t have that effect with the rog ally. I would recommend this product . It also is like a hand held computer allowing me to install apps and watch videos.
