Good if gotten at the right price! I traded in for the ally X to run The Finals

I mainly got this device to play my back catalog of games I own. This device will play any game I throw at it just fine. If not than I can stream it easily from my PC but I've yet to have the need for that. I get home from work and the last thing I wanna do is sit at my desk so this was the next best option. I was gonna go with the steam deck but my main catalog of games are spread through Steam and Epic. I don't wanna hassle with anything on Linux so Windows based handheld is the choice for me. It was a really close close close call for this or a steam deck.

Lots of issues reported from the bestbuy associate I worked with to return. Mine had an SD Card read issue. My Steam deck has no issues, updated the bios on the Ally and all of the updates given by Asus atm. Hopefully they will fix things as the screen is amazing and the controls feel great aswell. The plastic housing does feel a bit cheap for an item of this cost but the majority of the cost definitely went into screen and internals.

I returned my Steam Deck back to Valve and bought this from Best Buy other than it getting stuck in Transit longer than it should of because of FedEx not Beat Buy I do highly recommend this and love it I just wish the battery was better, but that’s mostly probably because of resource hog. and I haven’t updated the storage or SD card just yet plus other accessories yet but I will in time and I would buy it again.

Fun but gets hot sometimes from continuous playing. Battery life isn’t so great if playing high performance or turbo mode

I was able to get this on sale for $599. So far it has worked flawlessly and received a number of updates to improve its operation. Highly recommend its use for Steam Big Picture Mode, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Moonlight, Chiaki (PlayStation streaming) and Retro Gaming. With a dock it can easily be a solid desktop computer with similar specs to what you could get in a gaming desktop of similar price but you also get the option for portability or couch/bed play time.

There are a coiple of things that couls be better. One is the battery life, iy really sucks and the other problem is the overheating at times

Great product the only thing is the battery dies kind of quick while gaming. It could also have a little more storage.

When i first got the rog ally it was amazing and was speedy, after the 319 motherboard firmware went to chit, downgraded to 317 and now its doing great buy other than that its plays ALLYour games at a decent fps, with that being said its better than steamdeck. Having issues with your rog ally? DO NOT SELL IT! Work is in progress, just like when steamdeck first came out it was a buggy mess but with updates it works just fine.

Easily one of the better purchases I’ve made in a while. Easy to setup and game right out of the box. Can play lots (but definitely not all) of modern titles. Only down side is poor battery life depending on what you’re doing. But if you want a powerful gaming handheld this is easily the one to grab.

I thought I'd fall in love with the ROG Ally, but it was a complicated, one-sided relationship at times. I tried to reach out, but communication just wasn't there. Difficult to understand, unwilling to negotiate, doesn't look me in the eyes anymore. But that's okay, because now I'm setting my sights on other handhelds, and the Ally will see what it's missing. A handheld that understands me and meets me at my level of intellect (it was honestly just too complicated for me)

Best handheld on the market hands down! Makes this a perfrct mobile pc replacement with a bunch of accessories available as well!! Cant wait for future handhelds!!

Performance is very solid and allows most games to be played at medium settings or better. The feel is quite sturdy and reliable. Very happy with this purchase.

Great handheld system. The ROG Ally is just an amazing piece of work. I am able to play pretty much all my games comfortably without any issues. Plug and play and I am good to go. Did I mention that this is a full blown PC!?! The ROG ally is a laptop that you can play games, listen to music, watch Netflix, live events, browse the web and do work if need. I believe the Ally is best used for travel away from home or if you're home without access to the console or gaming PC. Do not hesitate to buy especially to be used as a luxury secondary gaming device instead of the a primary. In my case I have a PC with an RTX 4090 and when I am out I can play anything.

The specs for this device are amazing. When it works, it works great! I understood buying a Windows device would have some learning curves, but ASUS doesnt do any favors with its software packages. I shouldn’t have to use three or four apps to update the entire system. Battery life is decent considering games like Elden Ring run at 40+ fps. You can tweak things around and obtain longer battery life. Several YouTube videos and third party apps later all the settings line up to make the device perform like ASUS software should have. Overall, if you dont mind to tinker this thing is great. If you want “console like plug and play” the Steam Deck would be better.

If you need a gaming PC that can run every game at minimum 60 FPS plus being extremely portable then you should buy this. Incredible product that needs some firmware updates to be perfect.
