[Employee of bestbuy] It looks great, screen is awesome, and its got great potential… but i dislike that the battery barely lasts (no matter how much you tinker with settings), you have to play on medium/low settings, the screen isnt that bright, and it does take time to setup. I come from custom pc building and tinkering with everything. I think i just expected better performance out of it and was let down.

I love the fact that its practically a portable computer and just with a hotspot from my phone I can play all my games on road trips and at friends houses. The only issues is the mirco sd slot not working after 1-2 months but I found a work around for it so im not concerned.

I am aware of a few issues that others are having with this device in the forums, but I have had a blast using this powerful little computer since launch. Not many performance issues at all, graphics are beautiful, and the ergonomics are the best of any handheld gaming device I've used. Also, the design is absolutely the best of any device on the market right now. Great buy, would highly recommend for anyone who wants to play Game Pass or Steam games on the go or in bed!

Excelent device, run everything at almost 100 fps but the battery is maybe its downside if u use it at its full power, overall its a good deal

Great for on the go gaming or relaxing on the couch. Super powerful plays everything I throw at it. Diablo 4, Starfield, Enshrouded ect...

Works really well. Havent had any issues yet. Only complaint is battery life. I can get about an hour when playing diablo 4.

I like to use it to play some steam games, you can lie down to play, play while waiting, and can also connect to the TV, watching movies and playing games are very good.

If you're on a budget for a gaming handheld, this is the one to get. The battery is poor so plan on playing in short bursts, have a battery pack nearby or install the battery mod.

recently purchased the ROG Ally from Best Buy, attracted by its sleek design and promising features. However, my experience with this controller left me with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the ROG Ally boasts impressive build quality and ergonomic design, making it comfortable to hold during long gaming sessions. The buttons are responsive, and the overall feel is premium. Unfortunately, my enjoyment was marred by a persistent issue with the right analogue stick. Despite initial smooth operation, I found that it would intermittently drift, causing frustrating moments during gameplay. This problem persisted despite multiple attempts to recalibrate the controller. While the ROG Ally has the potential to be a top-tier gaming accessory, its reliability falls short of expectations. For now, I've returned it to Best Buy and will be exploring other options. Overall, the ROG Ally offers a blend of quality construction and functionality, but its inconsistency in performance, particularly with the drifting analogue stick, leaves much to be desired. Proceed with caution if considering this controller for your gaming setup.

I bought the Asus ROG Ally for my son as a Christmas present. It was a gift he did not even know he wanted. He was asking for the Sony PS5 compatible handheld. With this he's able to access Xbox, Steam, Nintendo, and PC Games, as well as access his Playstation online friends. If he wanted to he could use this as his laptop with a few accessories. He loves this thing. Took it on vacation with us and I used it also. I wish this was around when I was a kid. He told me: "Dad this was such a great present, I didn't even know I wanted it".

Amazing handheld! Runs cod at 100 fps, fort 150+ fps, hogwarts legacy around 90 fps. This handheld can run pretty much any triple A game title on low settings.

This is a great windows based handheld pc. If you use more then steam and don’t want to mess around in Linux this worked for me right out of the box. After a few months of use I easily replace the ssd with no problems. Battery life is highly variable but I see 1.5 to 2 hours most of the time but I’m not trying to maximize at all.

It is great to have while on the go windows gives you the opportunity to play a lot of game you can’t play on a steam deck but unfortunately it’s not a very durable handheld I’ve had is 3 months the buttons and triggers have stopped working and it’s beginning to overheat more then normal it’s a good buy but you will have to replace parts

If you enjoy pc gaming and all the headaches that come with it, but want that on the go then this machine was built for you. I LOVE my RoG Ally. I get to play all my steam games, all the available Xbox gamepass games, AND emulation. Sign me up.. also look up on YouTube on how you can connect remotely to your PS5, there's something to be said about being able to play God of War Ragnarok and Starfield while dropping a deuce.

The Rog Ally is the beefiest handheld to date it can run most modern games on medium or low settings at a decent frame rate; however, the rogue shines most when playing older games at up to 120hz console classics being able to be emulated on windows 11, it really is a great machine, would’ve given it five stars but my Right Bumper doesn’t work, no fix yet, but I just remapped my bumpers to the macro keys so it still works great, just be weary of some hardware issues as well as some software

I owned a Steam Deck before the Ally, and I can honestly say I haven’t used my Steam Deck since then. I liked the console feel of the Steam Deck but Linux does have its limitations. The Ally on the other hand can handle most if not all the games in my Steam and Epic Games Library with ease, especially if you configure everything down to the recommended specs. Windows can be a little convoluted but once you update and adjust everything to your liking I feel that it’s a pretty solid handheld PC. Give it a week and you won’t regret your decision :)

It overheats very quickly. Also can play for about an hour and then have to shut it down.

Works well, but has some issues with using a controller, hasnt worked the past few months for mine, and also has trouble showing up on certain TVs when you use the HDMI adapter. So good for what it is, but can also be fickle and you don't really have a clue why

Blown away of how well this runs. It has to be on medium setting for most games but re4 and 2 remake are very good on medium. Elden ring and dark souls 3 run very well on medium settings. Also the dead space remake is very well ran on medium settings. Havent had good luck with call of duty but the severs in that game are really bad even for my pc most of the time. Been having lots of fun witb it definitely recommend goving it a try for that on the toilet, in the bed, or front porch gaming experience

Great device that is really good for on the go. However the issue with that is the battery life is terrible!
