I am blown away that the technology exists that we can play this portable way now. True, things could be better, but its a start. Hopefully we get better tech in the future

This has been a fantastic augment to my Xbox Game Pass ultimate subscription as well as an excellent way to start working through my Steam and Epic backlog. Perfect to sit on the couch with while my partner watches tv.

Perfect. Perfect performance. I love the armoire crate software, I can’t wait to see them improve even further on that. I love using this as my main PC. I had a sad card issue, and Asus fixed it for FREE and now my SD card works perfectly.

It's very good, Windows is really the thing holding it back. ChimeraOS is making great strides on getting linux to work on it. On normal windows desktops, i would remove armory crate immediately. But here it's basically required for this device and it's genuinely useful for the Ally. Wifi's a bit slow. Good chance it's a weird windows thing. Running speedtests from my phone and the Ally, my phone (pixel6) is 200+mbps faster. Same AP, same distance. Hopefully that's something that will improve. If you do buy it, be prepared to update, update, update. Set aside some time. When you think you're done with all the windows and armory crate updates, open the start menu search MyAsus and update again.

Excellent device. Super fast and powerful compared to steam deck

The ROG Ally has a lot of potential. At the time of this review, Asus has some software bugs to iron out. It still works well though. If you’re looking for a powerful windows based handheld, this is it.

Bought it on a sale. Very worth the buck. And I was able to download all my favorite mk games

Great steam deck depending on if you want to be able to play steam games and games that require window with out having to use a micro sd card or install a dual boot system on the deck

I own the steam deck and while the steam decks UI is a lot more user friendly for beginners the overall experience is much more enjoyable on the ally for sure if you're familiar with the windows interface

After unboxing day one, it was a must to update everything in Armoury crate, myasus, windows store, and windows update. After that long process everything is working great for me regardless of game launcher.

While my ROG Ally is generally ok, if undersized for elder eyes, the SD card slot is compromised by its placement adjacent to the heatsink (engineers didn’t pay attention in Electrical Engineering 101). Under heavy using (gaming, the primary purpose of this product), the data on the SD card will become corrupt due to heat, possibly beyond repair. While their does appear to be a soft recall, apparently, ASUS support and warranty repair is a consumer hostile experience in which ASUS will actively attempt to defraud or misdirect the consumer rather than resolve their actual issue. Please see GamersNexus and Louis Rossman on YouTube regarding their experience. As such, I won't bother using ASUS repair services, will accept the product as is, and will never purchase ASUS product again. When the joystick fails, i will replace that myself with Hall effect joysticks. Regarding the SD slot, to augment capacity, I simply replaced the NVMe SSD with a larger capacity model. I'd recommend the Steam Deck for a straightforward, console-like experience. For a more involved, enthusiast experience, i might suggest the Lenovo Legion Go or its successor (the controllers/grips need a redesign). I got lucky with my ASUS motherboard but won’t buy ASUS products again.

This handheld is excellent. I can play all my retro games and it even handles many of my newer ones, no problem. The screen is crisp and clear, and the VRR feature ensures a smooth experience while gaming. 10/10, would recomend.

I love it, but it needs some work. The functionality isn't quite as simple as the steam deck but the power and speed are incredible. Batttery draining too quick is the only real concern I have.

Awesome handheld device for traveling or home usage.

Serves its purpose well, Isnt overly complicated, you dont have to learn a new OS, comfortable to hold, good weight, i can keep going. Need an SD card or a SSD upgrade if you plan on making it your main system.

Yet another half-baked windows handheld from a company notorious for dropping support at a drop of a hat. The SD card slot is still broken, the analog sticks still don't feel great the battery life outside of cloud gaming or playing old roms or very light indie games is non-existent if you wanted this to be your handheld gamepass machine be prepared to play plugged in like you did with the Game Gear back in the 90s.

It's very nice and works well. 4 stars because of the short battery life of 2 hours and it looses charge overnight, but it functions well. I also added 1tb of space because it gets filled up so fast.

Although the graphics were amazing and it really operates like a pc, in order to use it as a hand held, it does require a bit of tech knowledge. My son and I never had the courage to mess with the settings to map the buttons to games, and the ROG settings were not as straight forward as they seem. So when we finally tried to do it we ended up messing up a driver. Good thing we were still on time to return it. Its just wasn't for us. Maybe we will try version 2.0 when it comes out.

This is actually really great product for the people whoare giving bad reviews that’s because you’re not familiar with PCs in PC operating systems it’s not a gameboy
