It looks good, and runs well enough. Just wasn’t very impressed performance wise. Don’t expect much serious gaming, perfect for casual laid back games

It happens for me all the time while playing Diablo 4(the other games which I'm playing are not so tough for the device). It started after a few days of using Ally X then I've changed some settings in ARMOURY CRATE SE(also not sure if it is related). No overheat - temperature is about ~60 C. I've tried factory reset(soft) to get all the settings defaulted - just to check if it was not me to mess up with configuration or something similar... Still no luck Then the last guess was related to the GPU memory config. By default it is set to 8GB and I've tried 12GB and still got the same issue - after 12-20 minutes of playing screen just turns off, joysticks leds work but the console stays completely unresponsive. Only long press of power button to turn console off helps.

Great portable PC, however, few games dont load as expected. For almost $900 i would expect a bit better resolution but otherwise pretty good. Just not ny cup of tea

Steam deck is superior if you have a main gaming PC

The hardware was amazing, windows 10 / 11 is the reason I decided to return it. It is such a pain to navigate on such a small screen. Gaming is great if you love the portable aspect.

It is a beautiful device and battery is really good but device kept crashing and the buttons were unresponsive. It is a bit bulky as well, I had the Steamdeck OLED and that was really comfortable. Im gonna try the Legion Go will see how it goes

Pc handhelds are a cool concept but I don't think they are worth the money yet. Maybe the ally 2 will be better. 120hz screen doesn't matter when you never get close to 120fps. Windows on a handheld sucks. If you really want a handheld, get a steam deck.

Having the first version of ASUS ROG ALLY I was really excited to get my hands on the new ASUS ROG ALLY X to see the strides ASUS has made in a year. I wanted to see if there was a big enough difference to make it worth the purchase and the answer is a resounding yes!! The new ASUS ROG ALLY X is a much better version of an already great product but worth the upgrade if you’re a serious handheld gamer. Right off the bat holding it in your hand you notice an immediate difference in feel. The original ROG felt a little boxy and thin and the X has a more curved full feeling in your hands, like it belongs there. The joysticks feel buttery smooth, and the triggers are more responsive and have slightly more resistance and an overall better feel. The macro buttons on the back have been reduced but still feel well placed. The D pad is much improved as well with the 8 directional pad I’m used to from a gaming controller. The hard drive has improved to a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD but is upgradeable to 8TB now due to supporting the M.2 2280 SD version found in most laptops. You can find instructions online that are straightforward and easy to upgrade! The Ally X now also comes with a dedicated UHS-II microSD slot which allows you to add extra storage as well. I’ve utilized this feature to add roms to my setup! The X also comes with an upgraded 24 GB of ram which now allows you to dedicate 8gb to the GPU and 16gb leftover for an overall better balance. The battery has also been improved to an 80 watt version which helps for longer game play and also has a fast charge ability to go from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes! The X is slightly heavier than its predecessor but in a good way, coming in at 1.49 pounds it feels much better overall for long game sessions. The Armoury Crate SE 1.5 has been improved as well and the quick pull up menu on the left side of the screen is super helpful for adjusting on the fly depending on what you’re doing with the handheld. They’ve also improved the airflow by modifying the internal fans to produce a cooler unit overall. It’s also much quieter than the original as well! They’ve also added Dual usb ports with one being a USB 4 and one being a USB 3.2 Type C. This added functionality allows you to hook the handheld up to a TV and connect controllers to play with friends! The possibilities are endless! Don’t get me wrong, the original ALLY is a great machine and a good value at this point with the reduced price. But I believe the changes they’ve made to the X justify ruling out the original ALLY in favor of the X, especially if you are purchasing one for the first time. Just like any new technology the 2nd to 3rd iteration of a product usually really tend to hit their stride and bring vast improvements from the original and I believe the ASUS ROG ALLY X does exactly that. I wholeheartedly recommend the X version and if you’re a serious handheld gamer you won’t be disappointed.

I really love this powerful device, but I cannot recommend to buy from the bestbuy. I purchased 5 days with a trade-in before the price dropped in the holiday week, so I talked with their customer service for a price match. I initially got an answer for the eligible price match by chatting with one of their team member. BUT when I called them second time after just 10 mins to confirm some details, I was told not eligible due to the trade-in. I am surprised how their policy can be changed randomly by different customer services, it's hard to trust anymore.

It was OK performance wise only thing I didn’t like some games wouldn’t let you use the controller

The ASUS ROG Ally X is a compelling upgrade to the original ROG Ally, addressing some concerns while reinforcing its strengths. The most significant improvement is the doubled battery life, which now allows this to be an on the go handheld. In the past with the previous model I essentially only played it while I was next to an outlet because when running on battery my gaming sessions would end extremely quick. With the X I was able to play Baldur's Gate 3 for 2 and a half hours! Here are some more of my findings: Baldur's Gate 3: 900P Resolution, Medium Graphics Settings, FSR 2 Balanced, ~42 FPS average, 2.5 hours Elden Ring: 900P Resolution, Low & Medium Graphics Settings, ~45 FPS average, 2.8 hours These numbers are SO much better than the previous generation making the best even better. Despite the extra battery weight the ROG Ally X maintains its lightweight design and comfortable ergonomics, making it easy to hold for extended periods. Additionally, the replacement of the proprietary external GPU port for a standard USB-C 4 port opens up the ability to use other cheaper e-GPUs. Performance remains impressive, running games quietly and smoothly even at high settings, thanks to the increased RAM and 1TB base storage. However, the ROG Ally X still grapples with the inherent challenges of running Windows on a handheld device. The interface, while improved, can feel clunky and less intuitive than dedicated handheld operating systems. Navigating menus and settings can be cumbersome, detracting from the overall user experience. While the option for 100-watt charging is appreciated, the included 65-watt charger feels like a missed opportunity to maximize the device's potential. Despite these minor shortcomings, the ASUS ROG Ally X remains the best Windows handheld on the market, excelling in performance, portability, and versatility. Its upgraded battery life, improved design, and powerful hardware make it a worthy contender for both casual and serious gamers seeking a portable Windows gaming experience. While the Windows interface could be further optimized, the ROG Ally X's strengths significantly outweigh its weaknesses, making it the go-to for portable pc gaming. Pros: Battery has doubled in size! Very good the device but when they were sent with the delivery man the delivery man did not deliver it and my address is fine I take it to the warehouse and now I am waiting for my refund tells me the applications I wait 10 days and after 14 days I am still waiting for my refund.

ROG Ally X is an upgraded version of the original ROG Ally gaming handheld from Asus. The new refresh includes double the storage, improved battery life, higher RAM, and upgraded ergonomics. The device is still sleek and now comes in beautiful black chassis. The refreshed specs include 1TB NVMe PCIe 4 M.2 2280 SSD, which is upgradable, 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 80Wh battery, two USB C ports, upgraded ergonomic design with comfortable grip. The packing box includes a 65W power adapter, instruction manual, and a plastic stand for hands-free use. Ally X also runs on Windows 11 like the original Ally. Just like any PC laptop, you will follow the same PC setup process when you turn on Ally X for the first time. Make sure you run all the available Windows and BIOS updates before you start using the device. The best aspect of the Ally X is that it is fully compatible with Xbox Game Pass, GOG, Steam, Epic game stores. The included Armoury Crate lets you manage all games and customize the settings, controls, buttons, etc. with ease. The improved ROG Intelligent Cooling feature keeps Ally X cool and quiet as you game. The network connectivity is handled by the newest Wi-Fi 6E and provides lower latency for all video streaming and cloud gaming services. It is also equipped with Bluetooth adapter to connect to other accessories. Although the included charger is only 65W adapter, the new Ally X supports 100W speed charging. The immersive stereo speakers are loud and support Dolby Atmos. I was comfortable with the volume being at 50% and there was no distortion. The Ally X uses two-way AI noise cancellation filters to remove any background noises for all your voice chats. The improved battery does extend overall usage time. The Ally X did last little over 2 hours for my heavy gaming use. With just video playback, I was able to use it for over six hours. Fast charging does come in handy as it changes from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes. There is also a MicroSD slot on the handheld that you can store your games on. Though the load times are slightly more, it might not be significant for different use cases. Also, if you use Windows Hello, the fingerprint sensor on the power button will instantly and securely log you in for quick resumes. I really like the Ally X and enjoy using it for my various portable use cases. If you are looking for a reliable, powerful gaming handheld, you can't go wrong with ROG Ally X.

I can see it being fun for some people but the sticks have a pretty bad input delay. Returned mine next day. Would buy a gaming laptop around the same price instead.

No problem with Bestbuy. Have two problems with ROG Ally X: 1. Must plug in power to turn on the unit 2. Left trigger no longer work

I need to report this. It might not be rhat common but the one i got had screen flickering right out if the box during the setup. The boot was fine but once Windows starts the screen goes crazy. I returned it the next day. Bought a steam deck instead

Holding it feels way better, buttons, triggers and sticks feel amazing. SD card slot moved to a different spot. Pretty great upgrade but not for 800 bucks, probably wait for the ally 2 whenever it comes out

after owning for 2-3 weeks my left trigger has already broken and needing to be replaced. Didn’t have many issues before but the hardware isn’t the best quality and i doubt i would purchase again considering the cosmetics have already broken.
