Left trigger stopped working

I factory reset the device and still nothing. Barely made the Best Buy return window. Now Im nervous to buy another one in fear that it will break again outside the window.

Do Not Purchase This Product

The controllers and LEDs do not turn on at startup and shut off randomly during games. You are often forced to use the touchscreen function to restart the console so the controllers will work. Armoury Crate has a multitude of issues with syncing the LEDs as well. For an $800 pc/console, it should function without issue; especially the controllers. If I wanted to purchase a separate controller for my gaming PC, I would've. BestBuy informed me that my console could be sent off to be repaired for these issues. However, I spoke to a manager about returning the product due to the price, its dysfunction, and not being able to have it for a month (due to repairs). I have had multiple PCs and consoles that have lasted 7+ years, but this new device is unpromising having had it for only 3 months. BestBuy said it could not be returned. When I asked if I could trade it in instead, the manager called it "defective." They sold me a "defective" device that they do not even want. Why would I want it either? I was also denied store credit. Furthermore, the device is considered too "new" to be traded in. I am now making payments on a "new" and "defective" device that I do not have possession of because it was sent for repairs.

To resolve the issues with the controller and with the Armoury Crate utility software, check if Windows, drivers, BIOS, games, applications and the Armoury Crate utility software are up to date. Additionally, if you are playing these games online, please ensure the device has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system stability and performance. If these steps were performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. Not quite there

BestBuy? Worst customer service

They delivered to someone else, called support and they lied to me saying they’ll do a refund. A week later they email saying no refund will be offered and to work with local authorities about the case. I asked for explanations and got complete silence. Luckily I managed to work with delivery person to eventually recover the item. But BestBuy will plainly ignore the issue and just steal your money. Never using the services of this company again.

All was well until it wasn't

Right Trigger not working

Please wait for new operating system

I cannot stress this enough, and you will get stuck with a device that isn't great for traveling. Which in my eyes is the reason to get a device like this. Untrustworthy Company

I sort of am. But Asus don’t get the stars. Only if you have the disposable income to pay for an exorbitantly overpriced mid gen upgrade to an enticing but inherently flawed device. Only if you’re willing to open up your $800 device to tinker around and add electronic lubricant to the horrible squeaky triggers and Dpad that so many are experiencing. Again… $800 device. Asus has a deplorable track record with customers.. bullying, gaslighting, and strong-arming them into believing the issues with the original Ally weren’t the fault of Asus the self. It took numerous YouTube exposés to get them to change ANYTHING, and in the end they still do the bare minimum. The SD card is hopefully a thing of the past on the X. Asus used a flawed card reader in the original Ally then blamed a million other issues instead of admitting they sourced a bad part. If you buy this know you will probably have to deal with an issue related to Asus cutting corners with bad build quality. I added electronic lubricant to my squeaky right trigger 3 times and it’s still bothering me. I called asus to get a replacement trigger, and they told me to send the whole unit in for replacement because there “were no replacement parts available.” All the while they sell replacement triggers for $40-$50 on an obscure website. No thanks. My dpad squares like crazy but it is not easily accessible like the triggers. I’d have to take out the main board to get to it. Again. $800 product. This company has a long way to go when it comes to trust.

Poor Performance For the Price

It kept freezing dueing setup and did not perform anywhere near expected for the price paid. I did only have a day or two to try it before return though, as my package was misplaced during delivery.
