I have put in about 2 weeks fo gaming on this while moving to another city and so far it doesn't disappoint. Battery life lasts as long as expected and I can play on it for hours before getting tired of holding it. I have been playing all types of games and it seems to holding it's own even with heavy graphic games. I wish it would auto pop up video games instead of having me navigate to the window, but that may be a setting thing I need to figure out.

Better and more portable than an actual laptop. Perfect for gaming as well as being in discord called with friends. I was able to play games like Marvel Rivals on it with no issue as we as watch videos on streaming sites seamlessly.

Excellent product, runs most games, even AAA games, with compromises on fps and low to medium settings, battery life is decent, as a handheld pc it does just about everything you want it to do, with a dock and peripherals it's a really nice setup, though it's hard to justify getting it over a laptop at that point. But if you already have a proper pc setup and just want on the go, considering its limitations, this'll do great!

For my first PC handheld, the Ally X is an impressive handheld gaming console that combines power and portability. It delivers smooth gameplay and stunning graphics. The 24GB of RAM ensures multitasking and retro gaming via Emulation Station is a breeze, enhancing the overall user experience. While its performance and battery life are beyond good, that price point is a bit steep. Additionally, the limitations of Windows 11 can be a drawback for some gamers. Overall, a solid choice for gaming on the go, you won't be disappointed.

It’s a powerful machine, a bit heavy but you get used to it. Enable AFMF 2 in your AMD software settings for a nice FPS boost. Most games are optimized to run at high settings, whereas the steam deck you’re going to get low to medium on newer titles. I still think the steam deck is the better value, but if you’re willing to shell out extra cash for more horsepower then you can’t go wrong with the Ally X.

The improvements to The ROG Ally X make it leaps and bounds a better handheld than other windows handhelds on the market. Thanks to upgrades like the analog sticks tighter retention, bigger battery, thicker handles, more RAM and faster RAM aswell as a Thunderbolt 4 port. Ive ran quite a few games on it and most games run amazing it on. The only games ive had an issue with is Remnant 2 being a very heavy and unoptimized game and some stuttering on Borderlands 3 which i fixed with the texture streaming

I upgraded from the original ROG Ally, and I'm very happy that I did. My review will focus on the expectations and overall experience I've had with the Ally X, as well as my experience with Asus. Initial Impressions - The ROG Ally X has significantly better battery life relative to the original Ally, and in absolute terms, it is impressive. This makes the Ally X a bit heavier, but in exchange for that, you get much longer gaming sessions when disconnected, and much less worry about the remaining battery life. The Ally X also charges reasonably fast in my opinion. The display is great, the audio is good. The overall layout is very comfortable for portable gaming. I've had gaming and software issues and Asus is very helpful and I think they have great support that will go to great lengths to solve issues. Expectations: I don't think this is the way brand new AAA titles should be played. The reality is that the hardware is just close but not quite there. You can bring quality down, and that's the sacrifice you'll have to make. Instead, I think of this as a handheld that can play less demanding titles and games that are a few years old very well. Also, more casual games that aren't graphically intense play excellent on this device.

I really enjoy playing my games on the rog ally x and it’s so compact I can fit it in my bag easily to travel with me so I can enjoy my games.

Windows for me ruins handhelds but the hardware is great. Asus does a good job working with windows but I removed windows and installed bazzite OS which is a custom Linux OS that makes it work like a steam deck. You get rid of the ability to play games like COD and Fortnite but everything is better. Smoother gameplay, no stuttering, working sleep, no windows micro management of all the updates and settings. To remove windows and install bazzite I did this. You will need a flash drive and a keyboard with a usb c adapter. As well as another computer. Go to the bios and disable secure boot Flash a flash drive with Gparted Boot into gparted and delete all the partitions Shut down and flash your flash drive with bazzite OS Boot into the bazzite flash drive and install. You now have a super charged steam deck. I can’t emphasize enough how much better it is for handheld use with bazzite OS. Games that stutter like crazy in windows like hogwarts legacy are buttery smooth on bazzite. There is no clunkiness to it and I have had ZERO crashing or stability problems on bazzite. Amazing!

I am really glad I purchased the ROG Ally X! I like that it is Windows based and I can pretty much play any game. Even if it’s point and click games this drive works great, however you just have to map the buttons so that takes a little extra work, but I enjoy doing that, If you only plan to play games that are compatible with a controller, it is easy to play your games, it also has 2 USB-C ports so you can easily dock it and charge it or plug in other devices.

Absolutely love my Rogue ally x! This little machine has handled every latest title I’ve thrown at it so far! Don’t pass it up! The only thing I hate is it runs on windows 11 and can be hard navigating the menus with your finger. It could use a better OS to make it more gaming friendly.

Cool piece of hardware. Powerful mini pc. Battery life wasn’t amazing but it was good enough and didn’t run too hot either while playing plugged in. I couldn’t get a few games to work without latency issues that made those few games unplayable. The majority that I tried ran great. No fps issues either. There are a ton of settings to increase efficiency or decrease to improve battery life. I ended up returning because I couldn’t justify the use cases vs the cost. I could see it being great for road trips, if you’re not the one doing all the driving.

The screen is amazing and looks great in most lighting conditions and it's a pleasure to travel with. Absolutey love the design and the feel of the input controls. What i don't love is the lacking warranty, you can't even extend the warranty with ASUS. The device is great the lack of warranty is troublesome.

This thing is amazing. If you only play games in 1080p or lower, this is the handheld. Its perfect in hand or docked mode. It'll be even better when it gets official steam os

The ROG Ally X is the superior choice over the standard ROG Ally— you’ll get much better battery life, a larger hard drive (1 TB) and other problems such as the SD card overheating/frying has been fixed. You’ll want to pick up the ROG Ally Premium case as well to protect your investment! There are some issues with Win 11 glitching out on installing COD Black Ops 6 but other than that I have ZERO complaints!

This Device runs is amazing, Runs all my games with no problems thanks to the higher Ram. The larger battery is a huge help making most games run upward to 3hrs and it feels great in the hand. If you got the money for this I highly recommend it as its a Fantastic product

It's amazing. Windows OS pre-installed and everything works flawlessly. I even tried various things and they all works great. It's just like gaming PC in handheld version. However, not all games will be easily playable because some don't support controller layouts like my favorite game World of Warships, unfortunately, but there are still plenty of fun to be had.

Runs all of the latest games very smoothly with the VRR screen. Very happy with the purchase. Battery Life is a beast.
