Do not buy the first generation buy this one make no mistake absolutely worth it. I had the first generation this one’s a big upgrade. Trust me.

I’ve had it for over a year now and it’s by far the most convenient way of gaming that I’ve ever had with how portable it is but also being able to play on a big screen. It’s surprisingly powerful I’ve had no issues running any games and it’s comfortable I can play on it for hours with ease. The battery is actually pretty good as well I usually get 5-6 hours of online game play in before needing to plug it in. I also love that it runs on windows so you can do things on it that you can do on a typical pc so modding games is as easy as downloading them and pressing play.

Its been great. It plays games really well, and the games look great. The battery life js really good, even playing higher end AAA titles. They run pretty smooth, and you can play away from an outlet for hours no matter the game. It feels good in the hands and is comfortable for longer gaming sessions. With the extra ram, you can keep 8gb dedicated to the gpu and still have plenty for things to run fast and smooth with the graphics still being great. I came from the ally extreme, and i believe it was a worthwhile upgrade, i use it far more than i used the old one because i dont feel i need to be by an outlet all the time.

So this handheld is quite powerful for a portable PC and you will not be disappointed. The battery pack lasts for hours and I literally downloaded all of my favorite games with the 2tb version and have plenty of room leftover. With some of the modern titles you may have to turn the graphics settings down a little but that is to be expected, still though, you will not be disappointed with this handhelds power and performance.

Nowadays we all travel a lot as we want to discover the world around us. Carrying a full size console is out of the question. On top of this, Hotel TVs are more and more locked. Gaming PCs are insanely expensive. So you end up playing basic games on your phone whenever you have spare time at the airport… This handheld device can fit in any backpack and allow you to play real games anywhere. The battery is decent, the screen quality is perfect and with the 2 tb ssd, you can have lots of games with you. That’s really the perfect device for travelers or commuters. ROG Ally X is really an amazing device!

After putting hundreds of hours into my ROG Ally X since buying it in February, I can confidently say this device has exceeded every expectation I had for a handheld gaming PC. It’s powerful, flexible, and perfect for gamers who want console-level performance on the go. Performance: The Ally X handles everything I’ve thrown at it without breaking a sweat. I regularly play Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands, GTA V, and a variety of other performance-heavy titles, all running smoothly with no lag or noticeable performance issues. The system feels closer to a full gaming PC than a handheld. Game Library Compatibility: One of the biggest strengths is how easily it accommodates multiple game launchers and services. I’ve used it with: Steam Epic Games Store Ubisoft Connect Amazon Games Xbox PC Game Pass Xbox Remote Play PlayStation Remote Play Everything installs and runs seamlessly, and being able to switch between PC and console ecosystems on one device has been a game-changer. Its initial setup experience was buggy and clunky. Little patience required. Once fully set up, it does what hand held should do. Used this for work related stuff using 3rd party dock to connect my keyboard and mouse and worked flawlessly. Its a mini PC in handheld looking device. Great for traveling use!

Impressive performance and really good battery life. Very comfortable to use. The screen looks amazing and the controls are in convenient locations. I would have liked the smaller buttons near the screen to have some sort of backlight option since they are much harder to identify in low lighting. Armoury Crate sucks and crashes a lot but can be restarted without having to close out of the game. It is possible to install a different OS onto the NVMe drive if you wanted something other than Windows 11. Unfortunately the micro SD card slot cannot be used as a bootable media but oddly enough a USB flash drive can be. Supports charging up to 100W if you have a power supply that outputs that much. It comes with a 65W supply which is good enough to charge while playing. If plan on using this on a long road trip, I highly recommend getting the Baseus 160W car charger. It keeps my son's Ally X fully charged while he plays it and doesn't get super hot.

This device is what the switch wanted to be and what a steam deck tries to achieve. Its got power, battery life, you name it its got it. Personally have not had any issues playing any game and i play a latge diveristy. No stutter, lag, frame drops, that is of course as long as you set your setting well enough. Plus the 2 terabytes modle is perfect. Meaning you can have more than just CoD installed haha. 10/10 and have recommened to every gamer i know that cant game at home all the time.

When i got the Ally x i expected to get a device similar to my Rog ally original but to my surprise it had a handful of small upgrades,better battery than before, cooler look,and 4 times the amount of storage thats still not full! I hope it lasts long since its a amazing device! Yes ngl a bit on the expensive side but very good to use!

The ROG Ally X is a powerful handheld, and dual-booting made it even better. I wasn’t thrilled with Windows for handheld use, so I set up a second partition with Bazzite. With the 2TB SSD, a 75/25 split (larger for Bazzite) worked well—keep Windows around for Game Pass and use Bazzite for everything else. Performance: Excellent. Games ran great and the hardware feels fast. Why I returned it (your mileage may vary): 1. Screen size: At 7", it caused eye strain for me—especially in PC titles that don’t scale well for small displays. 2. Ergonomics for large hands: The rear button placement forced a “claw” grip to avoid accidental presses, which wasn’t comfortable over time. Bottom line: If 7" suits your eyes and your hands aren’t large, the Ally X is easy to recommend—especially with a Bazzite/Windows dual-boot. For my use, the screen and ergonomics were dealbreakers, so I returned it.

Thie rog ally x has been everything i wanted and more. it has more than enough power and battery life is pretty good as well, and it has been able to handle everything i have thrown at it so far. I would highly recommend it.

I travel 9 - 10 months out of the year for work and I like to play FPS games, but I don't want to travel a console. I found this and did some research. It checked off all my boxes, plenty of RAM and SSD space. Perfect to fit in my backpack and always ready to go!
