Great Portable Gaming PC, Decent Portable Xbox

As other reviews have mentioned, don’t buy this if you have a massive Xbox games library you hope to play on the go. Xbox Play Anywhere games work well, but its still hit and miss in terms of which games are available. Otherwise, Steam and GOG games work great. Xbox Ally has more than enough compute for indie and medium quality games, but I havent tried anything like Clair Obscura (let alone Cyberpunk), so buyer beware if you want to try running graphics intensive games on it.

Definitely worth buying! I play casual games but the battery last pretty much 4/5 hrs. It definitely worth it in my opinion. The customization for the gaming is awesome too. Not a fan of Windows but still would buy again

Best investment for on the go

I got this on a whim because I was in a market for one and the Xbox Ally has just released that week. I decided to get one and honestly it’s nice. Realistically while I’m on the go I get a good 3 to 4 hours after tweaking the settings to max performance on it. The games I mainly play are DBD, the Digimon story games, Kingdom Hearts, and a few others but most of them have all been able to run at 60 fps and that is all I need. I’ve had it for awhile now before I had wrote this.

My husband bought this handheld Xbox thing (I don’t even know what it’s officially called, probably “The Best Purchase Ever,” according to him). All I know is that ever since it arrived, he’s been completely entertained, and I’ve been able to actually get things done around the house. Battery life? Long enough for me to fold laundry, clean the kitchen, and maybe even sneak in a nap. Graphics? He says they’re “amazing,” but the real beauty is the sound of silence while he’s playing. 10/10 would recommend, especially for anyone who needs a break from being their partner’s main source of entertainment.

The ROG Ally shines as a handheld gaming device, delivering smooth performance and crisp visuals in a portable form factor. It’s perfect for single-player adventures, indie titles, and retro gaming, where comfort and convenience matter more than ultra-demanding online shooters. The ergonomic design and bright display make long sessions enjoyable, while its versatility ensures you can dive into your favorite games anywhere. For handheld-focused players, it strikes a great balance between power and portability without overcomplicating the experience.

As long as your expectations are tempered, this is a wonderful Handheld device, the Ryzen Z2A is basically a Steam Deck APU with higher clocks and power targets delivering a comfortable gaming experience at 1080p, and a fantastic battery life for gaming on the go, the fact that this device supports DisplayPort pass through means that you can transform this from a little handheld device to a full desktop style setup with a monitor, mouse and keyboard with only one USB dock, absolutely recommend for anyone who travels or is looking for a small gaming device without the hassle of juggling cables and space for a laptop

A good handheld for light PC gaming. Best for 720p gaming on fairly low settings. Really good for older games, mixed results for newer games. I do enjoy the full screen Xbox experience, it makes it a lot easier to navigate than the previous generation. However, I found the previous generation to be a little better to hold this one feels a little bulky with the new controller design. Great looking display even though it is only an LCD. Overall a pretty good experience.

I’ve been using the ROG Xbox Ally handheld for a bit now, and here are my honest thoughts: What I Like Great ergonomics & screen: It feels comfortable in the hands for long gaming sessions, and the 7″ 1080p display with 120 Hz looks sharp and smooth. Windows + Xbox experience: I love having access to all my PC games and Xbox Game Pass titles in one device — it’s like a portable gaming PC and console in one. Good for indie & casual titles: Games that aren’t super demanding run great, and cloud gaming through Game Pass also works really well.

Great purchase! Purchased for my husband for his birthday because he travels for work and this helps with the time on flights and nights at the hotel. He loves that he can play his Xbox games, but also enjoys that he can play steam games as well. Screen size is a great size and the sound is amazing. The handle grips make it easy to handle and play. My husband is very happy with it.

    decent budget handheld gaming PC

This is a decent budget model handheld PC with the best form factor for comfortable handheld gaming on the market. It's Xbox marketing will disappoint a lot of people who will fine the Windows Full Screen Experience (FSA) a shallow replacement for an actual Xbox experience, but it does run a surprising number of top tier games just fine....notably Microsoft published titles like Horizon 5, Gears 5 and Gears Reloaded, Halo Master Chief Collection, etc. all run pretty well on this, but other games may struggle. It's hampered by only 512GB of storage, and the expansion slot for an SSD is often insufficient for running modern games, but I use the SSD slot to load older games and less demanding titles. Get this thing on sale if you can find it and want a Steam Deck replacement, and aren't too worried about high end performance (say, you prefer indie titles and older titles for gaming). But if you want performance and can save up to get something better (such as the Xbox Ally X) I suggest you do that. My personal preferred handheld is the Legion Go 2, but you can buy like 2 and 1/2 of these for the same price so YMMV.

his product exceeded my expectations. The build quality feels solid and comfortable, and the performance has been smooth and reliable from day one. Setup was easy, controls are responsive, and everything works exactly as advertised. It’s clear a lot of thought went into the design and user experience. I’ve been using it regularly and have had no issues at all. Definitely worth the purchase and I would recommend it to anyone considering it.

Great product and works as advertised. Some games may require some settings tinkering and it’s worth noting that not all Xbox games are installable with many even from your own library requiring the cloud. It’s also worth noting that it is a portable PC and can download other gaming storefronts as well. Great portable device and great for gaming!

Ordered my Xbox Ally day one. Takes time to get all the updates and learning curve on tweaking the settings but once you do this game can handle pretty much everything. Playing Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV and MK 11 with no issues. Setting are low anything more you will deal with stutter but I got this to play on the go. High end graphics is on my Series X

Nice handheld with comfortable grips and really good speakers. Don't except to play all the AAA games, but if you have a pc gaming library it will play most of them and even run mods or emulators. If you play alot of fps games, i may recommend the steamdeck instead as the touchpads on that work better as a mouse then the joysticks on the X box Ally. If you can find a nvme stick, the X box Ally does use standard sized sticks of memory if you want to upgrade it or run Bazzite, making it a bit easier to upgrade compared to other handhelds and the smaller sized ones they usually use.

    1. The performance is much better than I expected. Even when running demanding games like BG3, it still feels smooth. 2.It’s not too heavy, so I can play for hours without feeling sore or fatigued. 3. The screen is beautiful, colors look accurate, and the sound quality is solid.
