Amazing PC handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a large gray area system. I wouldn't say it's an Xbox, but rather a PC handheld being integrated into the Xbox ecosystem a bit. The sound quality is phenomenal. The system runs games quite well in comparison to my previous generation original Lenovo legion go. I would have loved to see an 8 inch when or so on this, but 7 inch isn't a deal breaker for me either. The steam deck OLED is 7.4 inches though putting this at one of the smallest mainstreams on the market now. Something to consider if screen size matters to you. Otherwise I love everything about it. The price point is more competitive than the legion go 2 and I'm curious to see what Microsoft does with their new FSE interface and the a.i. processor in it. I kinda brought the dream over the system, but I have no regrets. This is a great console for the "PC HANDHELD", not so much an Xbox enthusiast.

ROG XBOX ALLY X
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is great! I already uograded the SSD to 4TB and its working perfect. This plays Marvel Rivals & Fortnite just fine. Older games play great as well. I would reccomend this to anyone that is familiar with PC gaming. If you get this, you will enjoy it.

Meh, it's alright...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This handheld is just okay. Design & Ergonomics: Comfortable to hold, and Windows FSE integration is a nice touch. Display: The 7" FHD screen is the biggest letdown. At a $1000 price point, I expected OLED or at least a larger panel (8–9"). Asus hasn’t meaningfully improved the screens on their handhelds in years, and it shows. Performance: Strong overall — the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and 24GB RAM deliver smooth gameplay, and performance on battery was surprisingly good. Battery Life: Solid, with good endurance even under load. Bottom line: while the ergonomics and performance are respectable, the tiny, outdated screen drags down the experience. For the cost, it feels underwhelming. Ironically, I would recommend the LEGOZ2E, which is MORE expensive...

Great! But overpriced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Performance… It runs games very well, just might have to tweak settings to lower quality to get 60fps on some AAA games. Ergonomics… are top-tier, very cozy to hold. The only problem is the handles make this device much less portable. It’ll fit fine if you don’t mind a bulky backpack when traveling… but if it’s going to be used primarily around the house then an 8” screen would be better for immersion. Build quality… is decent. My right handle near the trigger area feels loose and I will probably have to return mine. For this price, I can’t accept even the smallest flaw. Price… it’s too expensive for what it is. For what it is, it should be $699. These handhelds are just too expensive for what they are. Conclusion… it’s a great device, but I personally have a hard time justifying the $1k price tag. It’s nice to be able to game on the couch laying down, but I’d still prefer top-tier graphics and performance on a more immersive TV or monitor. If you can honestly afford the $1k and will use this as your main daily driver, then it’s worth it.

Great handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great handheld system. A big improvement over the original Ally. It is a small improvement in performance over the Ally X. A massive improvement in comfort over all handhelds. The only downside is the buttons are very clicky if you like to play at night time. I would recommend it.

GET THIS NOW!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid workmanship. Easy set-up. Lots of storage. Plays all or very nearly all of your existing XBox games as well as everything that Steam has. Ally X also supports several other gaming sites. Thus far, operability has been smooth and seamless. Even with the included charging/power solution is only that of a mere 65 watts, the overall package of the ASUS ROG/XBox Ally X ranks at a solid 5 out of 5 stars. As a final recommendation, gamers are strongly encouraged to include in their gaming set-up, the ASUS ROG BULWARK DOCK (model DG300) as the WoW factor will go beyond fabulous!

Dont believe the hype
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROG Xbox Ally X is not what the reviews say. Heavy to who overtime, those that don't do nothing but cry about anything. Lacking battery where's, when most devices, dont even hold up. No Heavy workloads, you kidding me, adobe creative cloud, printing, dual screen handling my IT work with heavy hitting tools like Beyond Trust, and many more resources hungry Apps on the Rog. Oh Fl Studios isnt light, oh and still playing whatever game on the second screen.

The best.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROG Xbox Ally X takes the crown as the best PC gaming handheld you can buy, and it rightly should given that gargantuan $999 price tag. The ergonomics are stellar, the performance uplift is pronounced (especially at lower wattages), and that means power efficiency has improved by quite the amount too. If you’re serious about your gaming on the go, this is a great option.

If you prefer Xbox controllers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mainly got this for the Xbox controller grips because that’s what I am used to playing on. I gotta say I love it even though it’s a bit heavier than a steam deck. It doesn’t feel bad at all with the grips. Plus I’m a sucker for the thumb stick placements. The system itself updates a lot out of the box and you have to update from three different places, but I’ve gotten used to it.

Great buy?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing gaming device. My girlfriend bought for me for my birthday and I only got to play it once. She took over and mainly plays on it. But it makes her happy so I’m stuck with my Xbox. Other than that, it plays steam games and Xbox games really good and she uses it like a computer. It has its occasional glitches like not wanting to synch my Xbox data and or freezes but it’s still not bad. Price is a bit high so I wouldn’t exactly recommend the product since there are handhelds out there that works the same and or better. But if you like Xbox… which some people aren’t anymore, but for those who still are… I probably won’t recommend it still… but it works great! Not $1,060.00 after tax great but great?… stick to steams handheld. Works just as good unless you like having the feeling of an Xbox controller, then get this.

Amazing handheld gaming PC experience
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, for what you can do with this thing and the performance you get out of it, it is worth the price. This is actually my first experience with PC gaming (console gamer) and it has been a wonderful transition to play some of my existing games on my Xbox account/game pass plus have the option to play games on Steam, Epic, etc. The versaility is unmatched. Handheld or connected to a monitor, it runs extremely well. Probably the best gaming purchase I’ve ever made.

Amazing, but flawed. Should get better over time.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, this is actually the 2nd time I bought this device. The first was directly from Asus. I had returned that one. This is not a Switch device or even a Steam deck. Those are much easier to use and provide an out of box more streamlined experience. However, they both also have less overall functionality than this device. For example, a Steam deck can play only Steam games, while this device can play Steam games, Windows games, Epic games etc. You are getting the full version of Windows 11 here including all the pros and cons that come along with that. This device is almost Microsoft's first test into a console like UI with the Xbox experience. It's a good start, but the important thing to remember is that it's a start. This is not a mature experience. If you buy this now you are essentially helping them test it. But once you get your settings setup correctly it starts to get better. I now have mine setup that it goes to hibernate when pressing the power button. It never accidentally boots up, and it holds battery charge in this mode. My game boots up from this mode just fine and I can enjoy quality gaming while on my work lunch break. Performance has been overall good. Games like Power wash Simulator run at 60 FPS using the 17w power mode. Other games like Robocop I switched to 25w mode and was getting 60 FPS with AMD upscaling. The value of this device goes even higher if you have PC game pass or Game Pass Ultimate. The 3 things I think this does better than any other handheld on the market is as follows. It's extremely comfortable to hold. Unlike the Switch there is no need to buy extra grips. Because it's also got a smaller screen the weight not to heavy either. The second is that it's surprisingly quiet. I had a Lenovo Go S with Steam installed and the fan was annoyingly loud. With this I barely notice it. It's not as quiet as a Switch but it won't be annoying you. The last is the speakers. They are extremely loud and clear. They face you and I'm surprised how loud they are even on a lowered setting. End of day keep in mind you are getting a full PC here. You can boot into desktop mode and even dock it. Almost anything that can be installed on Windows can be installed here. There may be some compatibility issues due to the chipset, but it's something to keep in mind for the price and what you are getting. You can't really compare the price of the Switch 2 to this as the Switch does not have a full computer operating system built in.

ROG Xbox Ally X – The Ultimate Xbox Handheld
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded from the previous Ally X to the new ROG Xbox Ally X. While the previous model was already a top-tier handheld, this new collaboration between ASUS and Microsoft feels like the "final form" of the device. The New Ergonomics: A Genuine Improvement The biggest physical change is the contoured grips. Even coming from the Ally X (which improved on the original Ally), the Xbox edition feels more like holding a premium Xbox Wireless Controller. The Feel: It’s more rounded and fits the palms better. The Triggers: The addition of impulse triggers makes a huge difference in games like Forza or Halo—it’s something I didn't realize I was missing until I had it. Performance: Subtle but Noticeable I wasn't expecting a massive leap in performance since the previous Ally X was already great, but the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme does show its strength in certain areas: Framerate Stability: In demanding AAA titles, I've noticed some games running at a noticeably higher FPS. Final Verdict If you just want the best ergonomics and the most seamless Xbox experience on the go, this is it. I upgraded mainly for the grips and the console-like feel, and while the performance boost isn't a "generational" jump, the overall package is the most polished handheld I've ever used.
