I would expect that with the name Xbox in the product that I would be able to natively load cloud based Xbox games on the Rog Xbox Ally X; that currently does not appear to be the case. I am forced to use the remote Xbox app and log into my Xbox at home. While it works Ok, it is far from ideal. When I am playing remote the virtual keyboard in the game does not work. I had reported this same issue with the Xbox remote app on another device. This makes remote play only viable for solo play as you are unable to type messages. A work around is if you are in a party using the Xbox app for communication but that would need to be arranged outside of gameplay. My hope is that native support for adding the cloud games is added and that the keyboard issue with remote play is fixed sooner rather than later. I only recommend this if you are willing to pay a high premium for a powerful but crippled handheld experience.

The Rog Xbox Ally X is a fantastic pc gaming handheld. It does take a few hours to set up properly though. But after that, nothing but smooth sailing.

Love this handheld! Plays pretty much everything I download on it! It also feels much better than previous model when holding it for long gaming sessions!

Honestly a great handheld PC. As someone coming from PlayStation ecosystem and just getting into pc gaming using Steam it works really really well.

Would give 10 stars if I could, amazing machine far better than the previous model and well worth the upgrade . This is a beast of a device and runs everything flawlessly . Don’t forget to update your bios to the newest version to have a smooth process !

This is probably priced fine. Right now, you can't get a Z2E chip device for any cheaper than this. Here are some cons to consider before purchasing: Not a xbox at all: You can only stream your xbox owned games that are not apart of the play anywhere initiative. For the record, I only had a few. The buttons do not feel like a xbox (especially the face buttons and d-pad). They give you 3 months of xbox premium.....on a pc device. So you do not get the day 1 xbox games. 7 inch LCD: This is not an oled...which would've driven the price up even more. 7 inches is fine until you see how big the bezels are in 2025. 4-6 hours until I could get playing: I have fast internet, granted I installed my own 4TB SSD (which is also faster than the included one) but after doing asus cloud recover, updating the asus drivers, updating windows, updating amoury crate, updating xbox, and updating whatever else and then downloading my games: it took a while. And I know what I'm doing..I can't recommend this to a friend or family member who just wants to get to gaming. Face buttons getting stuck: I've already had the Y button get stuck. For a $1000 device, that shouldn't happen. Adult hands only: The handles make this thing a beauty to hold and play for as long as you want but this thing is massive, I do not believe anyone with small hands should get this. Xbox experience is half baked: This could be an article in itself but it is clear this wasn't ready yet. You still have to deal with windows. All of your game icons don't match (sometimes even their own games [halo mcc]). Sleep function does work sometimes, but it's still not reliable over putting it into hibernate. Do not get this thinking the XBE is gonna be as seamless as steam OS, they have alot of work to do. Price: I thought getting the Ally X at $700 on sale was way too much money last year. This thing is $1000 and it feels like the ally x with 5 more fps and some handles. If you have a perfectly fine Z1E device, I don't think you need this. No carrying case: Yeah this is a negative. They charge $70 for their own. That is trash. That's on ASUS. Pros that I love: Gaming beast: we are still not at the point where everything will run at 1080p at a stable 60fps. But you can play 99% of your games on this thing at a playable level. Also for streaming, this thing is great. Handles: This thing feels like a controller when holding it. It is so heavy but you don't even notice it until you hold one of the handles with just one hand. Seriously I love the handles even if only adult sized hands could use this thing. Speakers: These speakers are loud and detailed. You also feel it while gaming, it's a console like experience. Seriously, every device needs to be this way. 100wt charging and decent battery life: The ally x had 100wt charging as well so it's good to see that here still. This device also runs well at the 17w mode for better battery life. If you are playing more demanding games, expect near 2 hours of battery under the 25w mode. Emulation: Still king here, can play up to 360 and ps3. No more details, this thing is a beast. Xbox Experience: While it's half baked, switching between apps is alot easier now and having your library in one place is legit. They still have alot of work to do. What I would like in a future Ally X or for this one: Fully fleshed out Xbox Experience. OLED screen...probably 8 inches. I used to be on the camp of not needing a bigger screen but I do like the screen size of the switch 2. I think this one should've went to 8. Better buttons: These are fine but the buttons feel cheap and dpad feels cheaper. Triggers are fine, nothing to change there outside of adding hair triggers. I don't use em but they are nice to have. Better setup: It shouldn't take me a million years to get this thing set up. It should take as long as a Xbox does. ------ Best Buy open box (Excellent): Mine didn't come with a charger. Bestbuy support refused to send a charger (or even a partial refund) despite the fact they sell one. That's a huge miss.

I had a laptop for travel before this, and this has made it so much easier. It runs great and can play most games. I did however find out that playstation titles on steam don't run well. Other than that its great.

great item, sound is spectacular. able to run most games well. I went with legion go instead for removable controllers and higher refresh/resolution.

Could be better but still a great gaming device, ergonomics on this handheld make this very comfortable for hours of playtime.

I honestly thought I was going to hate it but was I wrong. I’ve been knocking out my backlog because of this and it’s so efficient I get decent time on battery and when plugged in forget about it it’s beastly.

Imagine you have a comically large blanket that can't be washed at home so you have to bring it to a laundromat to wash it and while you're sitting there washing it you could be playing on this perfect machine. You can hook it up to your phone mobile hotspot style and play online. Mobile megabonking. Perfection. Chef's kiss.

Great little machine right out of the box. Xbox and Windows interfaces right at your fingertips. Very versatile tech right here.

10/10 bought this to play on business travel. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a drvice on the go. Mini gaming computer in your hands.

I really love this handheld because it is a handheld gaming pc that also has all the functions of windows. Yes, it has a fluid and nice Xbox UI but I can also run my Steam, Epic, GOG, EA and Ubisoft store games on it. Perfect to take on the go or some quick games before going to bed. This device goes around with me everywhere.

The xbox ally x is a solid handheld for the last couple years ive been using an oled switch and it sucked being limited to what i could play so i got the ally x to allow me the ability to play all the games i get on my xbox and pc anywhere i go and with my job is a huge plus being able to play all the games i love anywhere i am

This is amazing! The Xbox integration is what sold me. Full access to most Console Game pass games. Cloud gaming, to continue between console and handheld. Feels like a controller and the sound quality is top notch. One of the best investments I have made!!

Honestly this is one of the best hand helds. You got xbox, steam, epic game, etc. All on one place. One thing i absolutely love tho is armoury crate you can customize everything.

I love the device but you just shipped it from Asus to your store and nearly lost it and didn’t call me when the device was ready to ship so it denied my payment and I had 24hrs to pay it again or loose it
