After using the ROG Ally X for about a month, it’s easily become my go-to way to play games. The performance is impressive for a handheld, games run smoothly. The battery life is noticeably better than expected, which makes longer gaming sessions much more enjoyable.

The Xbox edition of the ASUS ROG Ally X is a excellent handheld computer. I’m absolutely blown away at the power this portable PC has, and it’s full potential still isn’t unlocked yet. They are still releasing updates for the AI powered GPU. The best way to play is with the devices plugged in and set to turbo mode. Still way more power than you need. Playing in the performance mode while not plugged in is still plenty for an enjoyable game session . They’re working on updates as you’re reading this to unlock the full potential of the integrated AI. The Xbox interface is easy to navigate, and accessing the desktop to windows 11 is easy also. It took about 30 or so minutes to get use to navigating the menus and figuring out the armory button and the Xbox button. There are different functions for quick and long presses. Having Xbox gamepass is a plus, there’s a lot to play and you can stream the game and try it out before you decide if you wanna commit and download it. Overall really pleased with it.

This system is a powerhouse I did not expect. Sure I read all the reviews and watched all the marketing hype up videos but, this gaming machine actually lives up to it all. Now I’m studying all the extras I can buy for it. But first I need a decent travel case for it. If you’re looking for an amazing machine to play your games while mobile the way they were meant to be played ASUS ROG ALLY X is the one you want.

Other than a few steam issues its a great device. Ive been playing constantly everyday and tweaking it to my specifications. I love how its easily portable it is cause i take it to work all the time.

Asus Rog xbox ally x is superb, it gives you what you looking for, as a pc gamer in 90's and early 2000's this is an epic gadget. You can play wherever you are. Yes you can download all in xbox game pass in other gaming apps. Recommended for gamers.

ive been gaming on console all my life and MAN having a mini pc is awesome! ive been using it docked almost the entire time and it runs great, ive heard an egpu would push it even further do ive been considering that as well, but as far as the handheld part goes, no complaints! only had a good time using this the last few weeks!

Very good handheld you can play on the go or with charger in , good performance for a handheld specially when combined with game pass , im happy with this purchase, I bought 4tb nvme too and changed it and it was very easy to replace and reinstall the system

The handheld is super comfortable to hold while playing games. It is easy to transition from the xbox home page to the windows desktop and back again. Games run smooth and look great. Battery last long enough for gaming on the go.

This is a powerful, expensive handheld that feels unfinished. Do you want to help Microsoft beta test its next handheld? Then pay $1000 for this device! The Xbox Full Screen Experience has promise but is does not integrate well with the rest of the device. For example, when you first set up the device, you have to update Windows 11 (of which it runs a full copy), the Xbox app, and Asus' Armory Crate app. All are in different locations and have different update processes. The Xbox FSE works with games from Steam, Epic, GOG, and others, but each game service needs to be installed separately--and each app and all their games updated independently of the rest of the device. Performance: the performance is good for a handheld. I played Horizon: Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077, The Outer Worlds 2, and other recent AAA games at 40+ FPS. BUT as with all handheld gaming devices, you will always trade off performance with battery life. The battery lasts less than 2 hours when playing graphics-intensive games (which require a higher power setting for decent FPS), but it can last several hours when playing Silksong or other games with lower graphic requirements (and the device set on the most efficient power mode). Miscellania: - The biggest weakness is the screen. This is not a small device but the screen is only 7 inches. Text on some games is very hard to read. The Switch 2 has a larger screen and it is half the price. - The device is big but very comfy. The Xbox-style handles make it easy to hold for long stretches despite the device's weight. - Connections are good--USB-C, bluetooth, wifi, sd card slot, etc. - Speakers are loud and clear for being small. - Secondary buttons are oddly placed. The ROG and Xbox buttons are tucked under the left joystick and are hard to reach. Similarly, the menu button on the right side is behind the joystick and hard to reach.

Wow, okay, as a total newcomer to the whole PC handheld scene, I have to say the ROG Xbox Ally X is seriously impressive. It took me a couple of days to figure out the whole Windows layer—I use Macs and game on my PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X—so there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve if you’re coming from pure consoles. But, the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) is a game-changer (to me). It genuinely makes this thing feel like a dedicated console from the moment I turn it on, after I got used to it. I'm rocking it with Game Pass Ultimate and downloading everything through both the Xbox app (GPU) and Steam. I've been running demanding stuff like Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders, and it chews through them without breaking a sweat. So far, I haven't hit a single game or setting that has given me trouble. If you’re like me and hesitant about jumping into PC handhelds, or you're just looking for a powerhouse, I'd recommend the Xbox Ally X completely!

The biggest issue is when docking the device with an External GPU and a dock. The Handheld PC doesnt come with a 100watt charger, it should be 849.99USD given it doesnt come with a GPU or Case. Otherwise it is a near perfect experience with Windows 11 / Xbox Full Screen experience. Doom the Dark ages boots no problem and plays really well after installing the Drivers from AMD's website. Just when you boot the game ignore the prompts unless you haven't downloaded the AMD Adrenalin Drivers yet. Game runs at 1080p medium on Doom The Dark Ages with RT rather smoothly. Not exactly 60 fps in gameplay but you can tweak it to do that. Its cheaper than a desktop PC right now but still kind of overpriced.

The build quality is great and very comfortable with the controller grips. The battery life is good especially with the amount of power it offers. The only negative is the windows OS. It does a decent job in game mode with keeping windows out of the way, but there are still issues tha need to be ironed out.

Since purchasing the Xbox rog ally x my experiences has been nothing but flawless & the battery life is great. I highly recommend this product. It’s pricey but it’s worth it.

This machine is awesome! It's great for on the go gaming and for set up with a monitor and controller like a console.

I've been wanting a gaming PC but didnt see the point being an OTR truck driver. Got a docking station to go with this. I absolutely love this device. Being able to play custom zombies on Black Ops 3 is amazing.

Really comfortable. I thought the 7 inch screen would be an issue but you get used to it, if it’s the only handheld device or the bigger one. Perfect for a 1080p resolution with sharp visuals. Z2 extreme is much more power efficient than Z1 extreme so I can get a much longer battery life out it without sacrificing performance. The ergonomics are really good! Only wish it were a bit smaller and less heavier. I initially bought right around the launch time but returned it because of clunky software but it has improved, especially the stability and the UI responding to inputs, it’s almost there just a bit more refinement to make it feel snappy. Sleep and wake mode has been surprisingly great as well, both in terms of getting back into a game and very low power draw. Also, lastly, ASUS, if you are reading this, please let us customize things inside Armory crate, like choice UI sounds, game art (maybe the ability to link steam grid DB)! Also, I got a good deal on open box at my local Best Buy!

I love it. I think the battery life on it is amazing and that it’s really comfortable and convenient to play games on. I’ve been playing games like Fortnite, call of duty, and Dead by Daylight and the performance is great. 10/10 highly recommend.

Runs games Xbox , steam and etc games with no issues and looks amazing. Although for it being an Xbox handheld there are far too little Xbox games that can be installed. Most Xbox games want you to play over the cloud. In addition to that games i own that are EA titles it forces me to play through the EA app which doesn’t support my Xbox progress for those games.
