    So glad I waited to buy this instead of the Nintendo switch 2. I can connect this device to my monitor and play there and use the desktop functions as well. An unreal experience and device.

    Asus needs to work on their communication

    This pc handheld is very fun to play, the design is very nice and it feels good on the hands but this device has many problems with the software. Ive only had this device a few days and i already had to uninstall and reinstall Black Ops 7 completely because i could not download an in game update. And many times i had to restart the device for various reasons and there are too many reasons to name just one, but none of the above is a deal breaker. The deal breaker is my mic does not work in game, I configured the sound settings in the windows settings (Output and Input), the device settings and the in game settings and I even tested to see if the mic is working via the settings and it does, however, in the actual game itself, no one can hear me and the in game sound icon doesn’t even move when I speak. I’ve tried this on different games, i tried using the pc handheld without no headset, I tried using a different headset, I tried connecting the headset via Bluetooth, I tried connecting via a dongle and I tried connecting via the 3.5mm jack and nothing works. And I’ve watched many YouTube videos and I’ve never once seen anyone communicating online in game with this device so I’m starting to believe it is incapable of online in game communication. If that is the case then Asus needs to notify customers that this device is not capable of communicating online within games like an Xbox because we pay for the Xbox Game Pass subscription like any other Xbox user.

To resolve the microphone problem, ensure drivers(chipset, Dolby Atmos, ASUS System Control Interface v3, audio) and the most current BIOS version were installed. Updates for this device are posted at:  https://rog.asus.com/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-xbox-ally-x-2025/helpdesk_download/ . Additionally, ensure you configure your headset inside the most current Armoury Crate utility software posted at: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury%20crate/helpdesk_download/ and Windows is up to date.

    Great device, not worth $1000

    I must admit, this is a great device for gaming, but at the asking price of $1000 it is not good. It is comfortable, has great speakers, its fan is quiet, has a very powerful and efficient chip, and simply is everything a handheld PC truly needs to be. However the fact that the product is not getting any real upgrades from last year’s Ally X while raising the price is quite a slap on the face. No TMR joysticks, no screen upgrades, and its biggest selling point being what feels like a beta software that’s relying on promises, reason being that there’s no quick resume feature, the UI buttons (armoury crate and xbox buttons) are clunky as they do basically the same task, no power percentage display to be found on the homescreen; unless you pull the metrics overlay which feels out of place, and the joysticks have a weird horizontal deadzone that doesn’t allow for perfect left and right direction (which I have never seen in any controller ever), and just a lot of basics missing for $1000. If this was $799 like the original, then these imperfections would be understandable, but for how the device is at this time, I’d just get a steamdeck or be like me, who likes playing multiplayer games, and just wait for the next generation and hope that they make it worth in the future, or maybe if it ever goes on sale.

    Not as simple as I wanted a portable xbox system to be. If you don't have computer skills this gaming system will present challenges for you to use. I would recommend only to very tech savvy gamers.

    device itself is good the biggest issue is the buggy ui. Device touchscreen will stop working randomly due to Armory Crate, have to reboot to fix. Recommend wiping windows off this device and put SteamOS or Bazzite on it.

    It plays games well enough, my big complaint is it goes to sleep and won't wake up without a 30 second power cycle. I've fully updated it and it still locks up if left in standby to long. The sound is great on it, visuals lock nice and the Xbox overlay works pretty well. I think for the price it should come with the case, but that's just my opinion.

    I returned this and bought a Lenovo Legion Go S SteamOS edition with the Z1E chip. The sleep mode did not work well, the screen is too small, Xbox big picture mode is full of bugs, and I am not paying this much money to be a beta tester for Microsoft. Performance was decent, but I am almost matching the FPS with a Z1E in SteamOS. I will say the battery life was great on this.

    Not bad coyld be better. Honestly if my Steamdeck oled 1 tb had a new update model. I would of stayed in the brand definitely not worth $1000 but I did it anyways to be on the road and still hop on sessions with friends.
