Screen leaves much to be desired
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROG Ally X is a solid upgrade in performance and battery life, and overall it feels more refined than the original model. However, the screen being the exact same as the previous Ally was a letdown for me. I wasn’t expecting OLED or anything premium, but even a slightly larger IPS display would’ve made the device feel new and worth keeping. Because of that, I ended up returning it. If screen quality and experience matter to you, this upgrade might feel underwhelming.

Open Box - Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn’t want to wait until mid-December to get my hands on this system. So, I took a risk and went open Box Excellent. And it was excellent; it had all items and the original box. This device looked brand-new, no scratches, nothing wrong and I saved $50. The initial setup was like any PC setup; I get people who want to plug and play this as a console but it’s not a console. It’s a PC handheld and requires a PC setup. Once you get past all that this is a great buy and has great value. The Fulle screen experience is awesome, and this thing can push out a great gaming experience. I hear the noise of you can’t play console games or digital library, blah, blah, blah, blah. If the game has an Xbox play anywhere tag you can play it. If you are looking to play Xbox, 360, Xbox one times, or Series X/S titles those can also be played but you must stream them through the cloud and or remote into your Xbox. I have no problem doing it, either on the road traveling or sitting at my house. Yes, eventually Microsoft has said these items will be able to launch natively but right now that doesn’t matter because you still have access to them anyway. But most people complaining about retro games don’t even play them anyway. The real question is do you enjoy games and do you enjoy this experience of how to play them. I say yes, 100% I do. If you are on the fence, just wait it out. I enjoy having this as a handheld and I also enjoy docking it because docked it’s a beast in it of itself. If you are open to a PC handheld with a dedicated full screen experience and the freedom to leave it this is for you. Also, the grips are unmatched by any handheld out, they just feel right, and you have no hand cramps after hours of play. Xbox/ROG 100% nailed the ergo on this handheld and I haven’t put it down yet.

Awesome Device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This handheld is exactly what I was looking for - exceptional performance, easy to operate, comfortable to hold, and great battery life. It handles all my favorite games very well (Battlefield, Fallout 4, Outerworlds 2, Starfield, Cyberpunk) with amazing graphics output. As a long-time Xbox fan, the controller and home screen is familiar. I would highly recommend! I preordered and Bestbuy got it delivered to my door on launch day, which was a huge plus!

Best handheld device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely the strongest PC gaming handheld, the performance is superb. The display is solid with crisp visuals, good color presentation, and smooth frame rates. The premium build and design of the handheld is impressive it feels good in my hands with everything where it should be. Also, you’re not locked into one store you can access games from Xbox, steam, epic games and more .

Hands down the best "console" PC.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic system. It's a great PC with a fantastic interface and one of the most comfortable controller experiences in the market today. Let me preface my review by stating a little about my background with handheld PCs. I had an original preorder for the Steamdeck. I have the MSI Claw A1M. I have the original white ROG Ally Z1. This "Xbox" Rog Ally X is a fantastic improvement over those models. I wouldn't recommend it for those that own the Z1 Rog Ally X, but it's a noticeable improvement over most other handhelds. Comfort is easily the best I've felt with the handheld PC catagory. It feels natural and easy to hold for hours at a time. Battery is also very impressive. Most AAA games give 3 hrs of gametime. Your average indie will see 7 to 10 hrs. Audio is superb! Don't know how they managed to pull it off in such a small space, but it has fully immersive surround sound! Play Doom: The Dark Ages on this and be amazed! It even manages to kick some bass up when needed! It's not perfect... the interface still needs some tweaking, but it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully with future updates, this will open up Windows as a competent medium for playing games, and not the giggle joke the internet "influencers" try to make it seem to be.

Forget windows, install Linux
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s great. Battery life is phenomenal, performance is great but not too much of an increase from the normal ally x. The big improvement from the ally x is lower watt performance and ergonomics. The only bad thing is windows. Just install Linux like bazzite or steamos and it’s the perfect handheld gaming device.

Great handheld, priced a bit high though
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got on release day and it was a super nice handheld, as long as you have your expectations set that this is a portable device that will not perform like your console or desktop. Like other reviews mention the Xbox naming on this is a bit weird, and people have bought this and the lower tier one expecting it to play all the games they own already which it cannot do.

Great handheld, but the price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hand-held works better than I thought. Can handle pretty much all the games i throw at it, including cyberpunk (just lower the graphics). My only problem with this hand-held is the price, it could've had better quality on some of the exterior. Other than that, this hand-held is a good hand-held

Great On The Go Handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic handheld with great ergonomics. I had an original Ally and the holding of the device always felt off and never comfortable, but man does this new one fix those issues. Feels similar to holding a legitimate controller (if you don’t pay attention to the weight of it). I haven’t had really any issues except for rendering issues on UE5 games (most notably Marvel Rivals). No matter what settings I use, whether I max the game out or go as low as it can go, I always have some sort of shadow rendering issue. It seems to only load shadows about 20M from my character in some instances, and that’s really noticeable on maps with interiors. I reached out to ASUS and the Ally Reddit with no responses on what that could be, but it seems to only be an issue with Unreal Engine 5 games. I’m able to run Black Ops 6 at decent settings running around 120fps with AMD Frame Gen on, 80 with it off. It is very different from aiming with a controller on a console to this handheld, so I haven’t really been able to go competitive multiplayer without having a real noticeable accuracy and response downside as compared to playing on my PC or consoles.

Amazing new device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this new console! The ability to play most of my Xbox games on the go, on the same device as my extensive steam library, is a literal game changer! I will admit the price is quite steep, but you get a high quality device for the cost, and I have been nothing but impressed since getting it!

Meh, it's alright...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This handheld is just okay. Design & Ergonomics: Comfortable to hold, and Windows FSE integration is a nice touch. Display: The 7" FHD screen is the biggest letdown. At a $1000 price point, I expected OLED or at least a larger panel (8–9"). Asus hasn’t meaningfully improved the screens on their handhelds in years, and it shows. Performance: Strong overall — the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and 24GB RAM deliver smooth gameplay, and performance on battery was surprisingly good. Battery Life: Solid, with good endurance even under load. Bottom line: while the ergonomics and performance are respectable, the tiny, outdated screen drags down the experience. For the cost, it feels underwhelming. Ironically, I would recommend the LEGOZ2E, which is MORE expensive...

Great handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great handheld system. A big improvement over the original Ally. It is a small improvement in performance over the Ally X. A massive improvement in comfort over all handhelds. The only downside is the buttons are very clicky if you like to play at night time. I would recommend it.

Mid range laptop with portability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Runs great. It's basically a mid range laptop but much more portable. The 120hz touch screen is very responsive as well. I have had no complaints about it so far, I've played titles such as outer worlds 2 with decent performance as well as a few indie titles since receiving it.

Great! But overpriced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Performance… It runs games very well, just might have to tweak settings to lower quality to get 60fps on some AAA games. Ergonomics… are top-tier, very cozy to hold. The only problem is the handles make this device much less portable. It’ll fit fine if you don’t mind a bulky backpack when traveling… but if it’s going to be used primarily around the house then an 8” screen would be better for immersion. Build quality… is decent. My right handle near the trigger area feels loose and I will probably have to return mine. For this price, I can’t accept even the smallest flaw. Price… it’s too expensive for what it is. For what it is, it should be $699. These handhelds are just too expensive for what they are. Conclusion… it’s a great device, but I personally have a hard time justifying the $1k price tag. It’s nice to be able to game on the couch laying down, but I’d still prefer top-tier graphics and performance on a more immersive TV or monitor. If you can honestly afford the $1k and will use this as your main daily driver, then it’s worth it.

XBox ROG Ally X Portable, Powerful, but the OS...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Power system, plays games great. The screen pops, the controls are tight and responsive without too much fan noise The only drawback is the windows OS platform. But if you own a Steam Deck already, I can't recommend this until they deal with the OS.

Works great, comfortable to hold
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, I'm pretty happy with this. I have arthritis in my hands, and I've found it really comfortable to hold for long periods. I spend all day on a computer at work, so it's nice to be able to switch to a handheld instead of another PC to play all the PC games I've collected. I've synced up and downloaded from Steam, Epic Games, GOG, and others with no issues. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that I'm not able to play all of my Xbox games on this. I thought that would be possible, and was one of the things I was really looking forward to, but it's only PC compatible games which does not include very many of the Xbox games I already own. This would be perfect if it could also do remote play like the PS Portal, so I had access to all my Xbox and PC games in one handheld. I
