Amazing new device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this new console! The ability to play most of my Xbox games on the go, on the same device as my extensive steam library, is a literal game changer! I will admit the price is quite steep, but you get a high quality device for the cost, and I have been nothing but impressed since getting it!

Made for cpu and gpu intensive gaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glad I pulled the trigger. Runs all my games great with since tweaking. This includes Monster Hunter Wilds, Enshrouded, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Remnant II. For these heavy hitters, remaining plugged in is the expectation. Why else would you buy this? There are better options for less demanding games and portability. with 24g of RAM, recommend to dedicate 8g for VRAM immediately upon opening and setting up the device. I worry about survivability of the thumb sticks. I may modify or upgrade these components

Outstanding PC gaming handheld
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Xbox Ally X is a wonderful entry way into Steam and PC Gaming with added capabilities on the Xbox full screen experience. Great sound and easy to hold in your hands. If you dont already own a ROG Ally X or STEAM DECK Oled, give this one a try and make sure you get the Asus Bulwark Dock as it enhances the experience!

Great Ergonomic form factor, excellent handheld PC
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty stellar handheld gaming PC. It isn't quite as amazing as the Legon Go 2, but spec wise it is very close, suffering only for an inferior and smaller screen size and 24GB RAM instead of the Legion Go 2's 32 GB RAM which I think makes a difference. That said, I find myself reaching to this device for more casual play on the go more often than the LeGo2 simply because it is the most comfortable play experience you can get thanks to the lighter weight and amazing controller-style grips. The Xbox Full Screen Experience also makes the Windows element more tolerable, but when you first get it do be prepared for around 6 hours of updating (make sure you get those driver and bios updates), and do not under any circumstances buy this thinking you will get a genuine Xbox experience....it's 100% a PC in a shoddy console disguise.

Good but not Great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing first I did return the product but not for bad reasons just didn’t see myself using it a lot since I usually don’t travel a lot and I have a PC at home. The time that I had it I played Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders from the steam, Fortnite from epic and Expedition 33 from Xbox Game Pass. All games ran pretty good for a small system, small adjustments had to be made of course but after they ran pretty smooth. The system itself is a PC not an Xbox which I knew before hand. So just a heads up it’s not an Xbox for those who think it is. The UI is pretty good and the main screen is pretty easy to use. My only complaint is that the system is slow to respond switching between Xbox app, steam, etc and sometimes wouldn’t want to open the apps. If I had a more use for this product I would’ve kept it for sure. Just don’t really need a handheld pc since I don’t travel or commute so much and when I’m home I’ll just play off my PC or consoles.

Xbox Ally, a super fun handheld PC!
|Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[Employee of bestbuy] I had my ROG Ally first Gen for a really long time before I purchased this. I just have to say the difference is amazing not just with it's power but with it's battery life and it feels so much better in my hands too. I've been having an absolute blast playing my Series S Xbox library with Game pass and my slowly growing library on steam. My only complaint is I can't swap the functionality settings of the armory create button and the built Xbox button that both do the same thing. Overall I absolutely love this device.

Best Handheld out!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Power & performance: With the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24 GB of fast LPDDR5x RAM and a 1 TB SSD, the Ally X is built to run demanding PC‐style games on the go. One reviewer found it “the smoothest gameplay I’ve seen from any handheld” in real titles. Comfort & ergonomics: Despite the specs, many reviewers praise its grip and feel. For example: “It’s actually the most comfortable handheld I’ve ever used.” The device design leans into controller-style grips, making longer sessions more comfortable. Display & refresh rate: The 7-inch 1080p screen with 120 Hz refresh and VRR support gives very smooth visuals for fast games. Software & ecosystem: The device is built with Windows 11 under the hood, but optimized for handheld use via the “Xbox Full Screen Experience”. So you get access to PC storefronts (Steam, Epic, etc) and Xbox/PC Game Pass libraries. Build/upgradability: According to teardown reports, the Ally X is more repair-friendly and upgradeable than many handhelds: SSD and some internals are accessible.

Great handheld, priced a bit high though
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got on release day and it was a super nice handheld, as long as you have your expectations set that this is a portable device that will not perform like your console or desktop. Like other reviews mention the Xbox naming on this is a bit weird, and people have bought this and the lower tier one expecting it to play all the games they own already which it cannot do.

Great Addition To My Gaming Setup
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the ROG Xbox Ally X! Its incredibly convenient to take on the go and have all my pc games at my fingertips. The Xbox full screen experience is truly a game changer over other handhelds. I also love using this on a dock and connecting it to my tv.

Forget windows, install Linux
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[Employee of bestbuy] It’s great. Battery life is phenomenal, performance is great but not too much of an increase from the normal ally x. The big improvement from the ally x is lower watt performance and ergonomics. The only bad thing is windows. Just install Linux like bazzite or steamos and it’s the perfect handheld gaming device.

Awesome upgrade Battery finally holds up
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I bought ROG Xbox Ally X, I have already owned ROG Ally Z1 Extreme, TBH, if it wasn’t the battery capacity of Z1E, I would not want to spend $1000 to upgrade, but here we are. The battery installed on Xbox Ally X really holds up. I watched a movie and played Nioh for an hour on a flight from Detroit to Austin and the battery was like 50% left when I got off the plane, knowing the same flight I travelled with Ally Z1E before, I would not have 20% battery left when placing on Silent Mode. The only complain I have so far is the complicated UI, which is not able to switch back to the original Ally Style, while the Ally Z1E has the option to switch between the Xbox style and Ally style. I personlly don’t have issues with Windows 11, because I use it as a portable computer when traveling around with a docking, external monitor, and BT keyboard, but gosh, I’d wish to get rid of the Xbox UI features which is not user friendly at all.

Mid range laptop with portability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Runs great. It's basically a mid range laptop but much more portable. The 120hz touch screen is very responsive as well. I have had no complaints about it so far, I've played titles such as outer worlds 2 with decent performance as well as a few indie titles since receiving it.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far i aint got any problems with it. Battery life is awesome. I did upgrade the ssd storage myself, which was very easy. I do recommend it to others. I travel a lot for work and this is great on the go. I do have a steam deck but if you have the extra cash go for it.

Great On The Go Handheld
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic handheld with great ergonomics. I had an original Ally and the holding of the device always felt off and never comfortable, but man does this new one fix those issues. Feels similar to holding a legitimate controller (if you don’t pay attention to the weight of it). I haven’t had really any issues except for rendering issues on UE5 games (most notably Marvel Rivals). No matter what settings I use, whether I max the game out or go as low as it can go, I always have some sort of shadow rendering issue. It seems to only load shadows about 20M from my character in some instances, and that’s really noticeable on maps with interiors. I reached out to ASUS and the Ally Reddit with no responses on what that could be, but it seems to only be an issue with Unreal Engine 5 games. I’m able to run Black Ops 6 at decent settings running around 120fps with AMD Frame Gen on, 80 with it off. It is very different from aiming with a controller on a console to this handheld, so I haven’t really been able to go competitive multiplayer without having a real noticeable accuracy and response downside as compared to playing on my PC or consoles.

Amazing Machine!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like the Title says, this handheld is amazing!! Super comfortable and easy to hold for long periods of time. Battery life is pretty good as long as you don't keep it in Turbo Mode lol. I switched from a Legion Go to this and couldn't be happier!!!
