This thing is just great. A bit pricey but i can play just about any game i could ever want on this thing. I game on the go pretty often and dont wanna lug consoles or a pc around everywhere i go and this solves all that. Feels great. I can play for hours without my wrist getting fatigued. The battery life is just ok but I usually play with the charger plugged in so not a huge deal breaker for me. Visually, the graphics are pretty phenomenal and the sound quality is top notch too. Overall great device if you can stomach the price.

Screen is vibrant, but should be brigther to 1000 nits. Screen size is small, but it's great for the portability of the device. Could be bigger though at least 8 inch display. Amoury Create is great for customizing gaming experience, higher resolution or more FPS. Xbox update Xbox Mode, this was a great updated feature. Also you don't need to do anything extra to get Steam, Epic Games, or GOG applications to play games from those libraries.

It has its quirks, but once you know the ins and outs it’s a lovely handheld. Runs the gamut of games. Best feeling handheld in the hands, excellent speakers as well. I found the battery life great for my needs. Screen is “good enough” IMO. Highly recommend if you’re comfortable and willing to put up with the quirks of a handheld PC.

I was initially skeptical. I'm a PC gamer who travels often, and have grown content with cell phone gaming. I did not want a Switch 1 or 2 due to Nintendo restrictions to just about everything. Gamepass, Steam in addition to Epic and BattleNet gaming all in one place, with a monster battery-life, juzt c feels unfair to the other handhelds. The price tag sucks though.

Bought 2 - one for my son - one for my daughter. Both of them love them! It was their favorite Christmas gift. We did a cross country Christmas trip and they used them constantly. It is a lot for than just a gaming machine. It is a full blown computer. They used it for games, homework, and movies.

While it is not an actual XBOX and you shouldn't expect that, this is absolutely the best overall PC Handheld on the market. The combination of size, ergonomics, and power combined with the fact that the new Xbox Full Screen Experience (XFSE) makes this much easier to navigate from an OS and UI perspective makes this such a delight to use. Really amazed at how this even exists.

I originally bought the base version and returned it because it didnt have enough power. The performance of this system is amazing. I have been able to play anything I throw at it at medium settings and can get 40 or more frames per second. I also have a legion go s with z1e and its also great but this performs better and the battery life is significantly better. The only downside is the build quality. The plastic is cheap and creeks and squeeks. The legion go s feels like a solid machine and doesnt have any of these issues. For 1000 dollars i expected a better built machine. The switch 2 build quality is also worlds above this. How a 1000 machine doesnt have hall effect joysticks is beyond me. ASUS cheaped out on the build materials.

By far my best purchase of the year. I didnt own any handheld and im glad i waited. I am basically playing playstation and xbox games in one place. I got the Bulwark and the 140w power adapter. This way i dock it for faster download times and chill gaming sometimes. When it is connected and on turbo it is a beast. If not, it still run all thr games i Throw at it pretty well.

Top of the line gaming handheld but keep in mind it’s not a gaming PC. Has some moderate to severe lag issues with AAA titles but super fun to use and I’m sure I’m just scratching the surface.

This is probably priced fine. Right now, you can't get a Z2E chip device for any cheaper than this. Here are some cons to consider before purchasing: Not a xbox at all: You can only stream your xbox owned games that are not apart of the play anywhere initiative. For the record, I only had a few. The buttons do not feel like a xbox (especially the face buttons and d-pad). They give you 3 months of xbox premium.....on a pc device. So you do not get the day 1 xbox games. 7 inch LCD: This is not an oled...which would've driven the price up even more. 7 inches is fine until you see how big the bezels are in 2025. 4-6 hours until I could get playing: I have fast internet, granted I installed my own 4TB SSD (which is also faster than the included one) but after doing asus cloud recover, updating the asus drivers, updating windows, updating amoury crate, updating xbox, and updating whatever else and then downloading my games: it took a while. And I know what I'm doing..I can't recommend this to a friend or family member who just wants to get to gaming. Face buttons getting stuck: I've already had the Y button get stuck. For a $1000 device, that shouldn't happen. Adult hands only: The handles make this thing a beauty to hold and play for as long as you want but this thing is massive, I do not believe anyone with small hands should get this. Xbox experience is half baked: This could be an article in itself but it is clear this wasn't ready yet. You still have to deal with windows. All of your game icons don't match (sometimes even their own games [halo mcc]). Sleep function does work sometimes, but it's still not reliable over putting it into hibernate. Do not get this thinking the XBE is gonna be as seamless as steam OS, they have alot of work to do. Price: I thought getting the Ally X at $700 on sale was way too much money last year. This thing is $1000 and it feels like the ally x with 5 more fps and some handles. If you have a perfectly fine Z1E device, I don't think you need this. No carrying case: Yeah this is a negative. They charge $70 for their own. That is trash. That's on ASUS. Pros that I love: Gaming beast: we are still not at the point where everything will run at 1080p at a stable 60fps. But you can play 99% of your games on this thing at a playable level. Also for streaming, this thing is great. Handles: This thing feels like a controller when holding it. It is so heavy but you don't even notice it until you hold one of the handles with just one hand. Seriously I love the handles even if only adult sized hands could use this thing. Speakers: These speakers are loud and detailed. You also feel it while gaming, it's a console like experience. Seriously, every device needs to be this way. 100wt charging and decent battery life: The ally x had 100wt charging as well so it's good to see that here still. This device also runs well at the 17w mode for better battery life. If you are playing more demanding games, expect near 2 hours of battery under the 25w mode. Emulation: Still king here, can play up to 360 and ps3. No more details, this thing is a beast. Xbox Experience: While it's half baked, switching between apps is alot easier now and having your library in one place is legit. They still have alot of work to do. What I would like in a future Ally X or for this one: Fully fleshed out Xbox Experience. OLED screen...probably 8 inches. I used to be on the camp of not needing a bigger screen but I do like the screen size of the switch 2. I think this one should've went to 8. Better buttons: These are fine but the buttons feel cheap and dpad feels cheaper. Triggers are fine, nothing to change there outside of adding hair triggers. I don't use em but they are nice to have. Better setup: It shouldn't take me a million years to get this thing set up. It should take as long as a Xbox does. ------ Best Buy open box (Excellent): Mine didn't come with a charger. Bestbuy support refused to send a charger (or even a partial refund) despite the fact they sell one. That's a huge miss.

I originally bought the Xbox Ally base model. Returned it for the Xbox Ally X. It is worth it. The XaX is night and day better than the base model. Base model kept crashing with Horizon Forbidden west and XaX did not hesitate at all with it. Absolutely worth it and I don’t regret this purchase at all. This is going to take the place of my gaming laptop that was aging.

Best Gaming Handheld You Can Buy

Easily the best handheld gaming device you can buy. It's not cheap, but it's a full on gaming PC in your hand with Microsoft's new Windows optimizations for handhelds, included. Both native and cloud gaming work great on the device. I've been playing games from the Xbox library (Indiana Jones, Outer Worlds 2) and Steam (Ghosts of Tsushima), and they look beautiful and play great.
