I knew going in that this would be a big step up from something like a Steam Deck. I find myself unable to put it down most days since I got it. The battery life is great, it’s comfortable to hold, and most of the games I’ve thrown at it run smooth. My only gripe with it is the screen, nothing BAD about it, I just wish they went with an OLED especially since this same screen can be found in every version of the ROG Ally.

The ROG ALLY X is an amazing gaming console. I’m able to play every systems games. Offline as well which is huge when there isn’t WiFi around. It’s legitimately a computer. You can scroll the internet. Stream Netflix, Hulu, HBO max etc.. 10/10 product.

I waited a month before reviewing because I like to take my time with a product when giving my opinion. The battery life is superb, but what sold me at first glance were the ergonomics. It’s truly the most comfortable handheld I’ve ever used. I am enjoying it very much and looking forward to future updates on this device. It’s a solid 10/10 for me.

Out the box it runs amazing. I upgraded from a steam deck and very happy with my purchase. It is so smooth and when using a controller has no visible button lag so far. Definitely a good buy. I have yet to use window mode, i just didnt buy this for that.

What a solid handheld. Although pricey this thing is a beast and a nice convenient entry into PC gaming for gamers who primarily game on a console. Quality build and controls feel great on it. Oh and access to other storefronts unlike a Steam Deck. Think about expanding the hard rive if you get it cause you will go through it fast.

    Best bang-for-Buck Z2E handheld

For $999, this is easily the cheapest Z2E handheld out right now. Xbox Full Experience feels more console-like than ever, storage is standard M.2 2280 that can be upgraded, and you can get Steam OS, Bazzite, or whatever OS you want on this. Games run well at 720p to 1080p, your mileage may vary based on the game and whatever tweaked settings you have. For $350 more than the Steam Deck OLED, you're getting around twice the machine. I also got the Dbrand Killswitch case and ROG docking station for it. Great handheld PC.

After having spent over $3000 on different handheld devices, I bought this one and was impressed immediately out of the box. I upgraded the SSD to the 2 TB and I’m significantly more happy with the device. The battery life lasted me as long as I need it to, and it charges up very quickly operates fully windows based unlike several other devices that operate only on their devices operating system

Coming from a Z1E ally this is a huge upgrade. Still a windows PC at heart, so not fully seamless but a lot closer, and tons of horsepower to run whatever games I want, even docked to the TV. Immediately upgraded to a 2TB since games are so large these days.

Not worth to upgrade if you have Asus ROG Ally X. My wife took over my Ally X and this came out just in time. Runs great. Extremely comfortable. Wish included a case like steam deck. But I highly recommend it to anyone.

    It's not an Xbox

First it doesn't come with GamePass PC, it comes with GamePass premium, which is a downgrade from PC GamePass. Some games run great others not so great. I do love the handheld but i spend most of the time in the steam app. The xbox app's games are expensive and with the price increase to GamePass the best deal in gaming has become the worst deal in gaming. It is impressive though running games like ARC Raiders at 60 FPS, or Outer Worlds 2 getting over 30 FPS on quality FSR with medium and low settings. The controller is not an Xbox controller, it's a generic X-input controller. The only thing that makes this an Xbox is the guide button. This system is a windows 11 PC with some Xbox features. The SSD they included is a little slow, I'm planning to replace it in the future but right now it will do. Don't let the 3 stats fool you im just picky. The system is definitely worth the price, just with a few cevats.

Great Upgrade from the Steam Deck

I was a Steam Deck LCD pre order recipient during it's initial release and loved it dearly. Unfortunately, with more modern games, the SD started to show it's age and inability to keep up with spec demands. I shopped around for it's replacement and landed on the XAX and am very happy. The only thing I wish Armor Crate was capable of outright, was the community custom button map profiles that Steam Deck provides. Instead of figuring out your own button mapping for a game that would other not use controllers, SD made this very easy with user made and downloadable profiles per game.

Purchased “Open Box - Excellent” unit. Had a blueish hue in the screen (only visible when screen had shown darker colored background). Returned unit due to the blemish. But with that issue aside, the device is super comfortable when gaming. It was my first pc handheld purchase and I plan on buying it again; brand new.

This device is nearly perfect. Excellent ergonomics, light, quiet fans, solid performance. If I had to give any complaints, aside from the price, it'd be that a 7 inch screen is just too small even if the device itself if comfortable.

One of the most amazing hand held devices I’ve ever owned. For the price you pay, it’s honestly the bang for your bucks deal. This is one beefy hand held.

Best In the Market But The Market is Problematic

First off let's get this out of the way for those that are wondering: THIS IS NOT AN XBOX! This is a Windows Handled PC like the previous Ally models, with Xbox branding. If you are going out to buy a brand new Handheld and you only have the current generations available to you, I would say this is the best one on the market for Price/Performance. Which is both great and a Problem. At $999+tax, it should at the very LEAST come with an OLED screen, and have it be bigger. The 7" non OLED screen 3 gens in a row The build quality also feels a little cheapish even compared to the original Z1 Extreme Model. Due to the hollow nature of the grips, the face buttons sound exceptionally louder than on the previous gen and as of writing this, I have yet to find a mod that dampens the sound as well. It is however incredibly comfortable to hold. - If you want the best current gen Bang For your Buck form a mainstream brand: Get this 100% - If you want the best of the best in handhelds and don't mind the $400-$500 difference, get the Leonovo Legion Go 2. - If you can afford a little bit more, give the MSI Claw 8 AI+ a short. Intel seems to be doing something good with it's drivers, i've heard good things - If money is tight, find an Open Box ROG Ally X instead.

Was bought as a gift! Absolutely love it! It was easy to set up, with many, many games downloaded it’s never slowed down or froze. It’s quiet and lightweight! You can customize it from the colors to how the screen looks!

I love it. All games i can play in one gamin handheld. So amazing the graphics and the only thing i hate is the screen when you play outside even at night the glaring is soo annoying. You have to buy the anti glare screen protector that helps. Overall, this device is outstanding.
