    Worst Hand-held system I have ever owned!

    This is probably the worst system I have owned by far, I have many handhelds but none of them have given me the amount of issues this particular one has given me. I preordered this bad boy so I had it since day one. And since then it has been nothing but a headache. (1) 2 months after owning it i had to send it out for repairs, the bearings on the fans were already sounding like they have went bad. (2) Every now and then, some games won't detect the controller at all, so Im just sitting on the game menu without being able to do anything unless I restart the system. (3) There's times the system freezes upon booting up or I get no response when trying to log into windows (wont let me put in my password or detects my fingerprint). (4) Most things I want to do is requiring an internet connection?...I thought this was ment to be played wherever you are weather or not you have internet, defeating the purpose of owning this thing... honestly waste of money in my opinion...on the plus side, when it does work, its great due to its performance

      We do understand your disappointment with the ROG Xbox Ally X and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing system freeze while booting up and the controller not being detected on some games. If the device freeze while booting up and the controller not being detected during POST, ensure it is running with the most current update for Windows, drivers, BIOS and the Armoury Crate utility software. Updates for the device are posted at:  https://rog.asus.com/us/gaming-handhelds/rog-ally/rog-xbox-ally-x-2025/helpdesk_download/. Configure your system, game, video and operating mode settings inside the latest version of the Armoury Crate utility software posted at: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury%20crate/helpdesk_download/ . Additionally, if you are playing these games online, ensure the device has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will affect system stability and performance. If these steps were performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the ROG Xbox Ally X, download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.

    The new xbox os isnt bad just felt laggy and slow to me sometimes. It's definitely worth the price but I would install bazzite on it as soon as possible

    device itself is good the biggest issue is the buggy ui. Device touchscreen will stop working randomly due to Armory Crate, have to reboot to fix. Recommend wiping windows off this device and put SteamOS or Bazzite on it.

    Good Hardware -- Not Ready for Launch

    I was really excited for the ROG Xbox Ally X -- pre-ordered the first hour I was able to do so. When I received mine the day of release, it was excellent -- slight to major improvements to the Ally X and with the increased power and ergonomics was completely worth the upgrade. Except...the right trigger was sticking and this got progressively worse over the first few days I owned it. Given I still had a return window, I returned to Best Buy and immediately ordered another one, writing the experience off to early production issues. I then waited until mid-November for my replacement to arrive. When I went to the store to pick it up, the unit they gave me didn't have the original plastic seal, but instead a sleeve stuck to the box with a number of haphazard ASUS stickers. If it was a new unit, it certainly didn't look it. I immediately refused it on sight. For a $1k priced premium item, this should not have been my experience, twice over. I own most every handheld out there, from the Steam Deck and SD OLED, Ally X, Legion Go S and the new Legion Go 2, which arrived with no issue a week ago. I'll have to stick with those for now and seriously think about whether I'd consider another product in the Ally line.
