I was kinda hesitant on a stand-alone Star Wars movie, but I thought they did a really good job. The steelbook is really cool addition to any collection

First I will just say that I liked Rogue One more than Force Awakens and I didn't initially expect to when I first saw it at the theaters. Having said that, the movie is excellent all the way around. But this particular package option from Best Buy is really the best special edition package being offered at the time of writing this. The steelbook art is unique to this package very well done. There are plenty of extras of course and I really like the fact that the main movie Blu-ray disc doesn't mess around. You put it into your player, choose the language for the menus and then you get the movie's main menu! I really like it when I don't have to sit through 15min of previews for stuff I likely have already seen or even bought. So yes, I think this is preferred version of the movie to get.

The movie is good and it fullfill the purpose of giving you 2 hours of entertainment transporting the viewers to some far galaxy. I enjoyed it, but for moments I thought I was watching "Saving Private Ryan" especially the last big battle on that sort of beach looked more WW2 than Jedis and Skywalker, but if you're really interested about learning how the Rebels got the blueprint of the Death Star, this movie is a 100% must see. Even if there’s always a Death Star in SW movies, and that’s a lack of originality, I felt that this time it made sense. The main plot is great but there are too many planets and too many characters, it’s impossible to remember as we all remember after decades Tatooine, Alderaan or Dagobah. The CGI characters looked too fake, like a videogame more than a movie, I’d not recommend to use them again in close shots between other actors, technology improves but we’re still too far and there are better options like using them in hologram transmissions or behind some video-conference system. Of course Darth Vader presence is short but rewarding and extremely welcomed. The bluray quality has some issues with dark scenes, sometimes it was too dark, but as I haven't seen the movie at the theaters, I have no idea if this is something related to the bluray or the movie itself, my TV is quite well calibrated. The dialogues are sometimes hard to follow because of the excesive dynamic range, but if you're reading my review before watching this movie please adjust both video and audio on your setup and you'll enjoy it better than me (I’ll probably do it the next time i watch this movie...).

Maybe because I'm an idiot, I did not go and see this movie in the theatre. To be honest, I still don't like the fact that Disney bought Lucasfilm. I do see the irony in that if Disney hadn't purchased the rights to Lucasfilm, we wouldn't have all of these new Star Wars movies to watch. Anyway, I pre ordered the movie, so it arrived on its release date. Since it arrived there and a half weeks ago, give or take, I have sat down to watch this movie four times, and started it a fifth (I was too tired and couldn't finish on that occasion). This movie is magnificent! It tells a story that offers missing information that until now, we just lived without. The story is clean and fills in the blanks well. If you are a Star Wars fan and you haven't seen this movie, well, what are you waiting for?

The 4k version is a spectacular visual transfer /edition. In addition Blu-ray format is much more scratch resistant and resistant to degradation unlike standard DVD's.

This is the movie I think many die-hard Star Wars fans thought we'd being seeing in Episode 3, and were disappointed when it wasn't. We knew there had to be some high adventure, and wildly dangerous set of events that got the Death Star plans into Princess Leia's hands - and Rogue One shows us precisely what those events were. Initially, some considerable time is spent on character development since we've seen very few of these people before. There is good action, but it isn't an "edge or your seat thrill ride" like JJ might put together, until it warrants being so. And the emotions of fear, desperation, and hope for the future pour over you like a waterfall. The cost for the planet-killer were obtained at a very high cost, and Lord Vader intends to ensure they are reclaimed

There have been a host of positive reviews for this film, and I am more than happy to add one more. Rogue One is the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back. Sure, many of the Star Wars movies have been fun, escapist sci-fi romps through the galaxy. But calling a movie a great film means something different. Rogue One can stand up as a member of the Star Wars cannon. It can stand up as a great sci-fi action flick. It can more than hold up as a great war movie, exploring the themes of sacrifice, hopelessness and hope without needing to know the lingo of Star Wars. It has risen above and beyond what Star Wars means, and adds a quality movie from that series to the bigger world of film. No matter what your genre preference may be, this movie belongs in your collection.

Great Addition to the Star Wars Universe

Rogue One was a great addition to the Star Wars Universe. Seeing the great cost that was mentioned in Episode IV put onto film really adds to my appreciation of what transpires in Ep IV. While I don't think I felt quite as connected with the new cast ensemble in this film as compared to say, The Force Awakens new cast, they certainly were still much more believable and relatable compared to much of the cast in Ep I - III. The 3D was pretty decent, although not the strongest usage of 3D. There is plenty of depth to the picture and use of medium-level separation throughout. There is very little pop-out effects, though. While the 3D doesn't necessarily enhance the film's story telling aspect, the 3D still was appreciable and will be my preferred way to view this film.

Everything One Wants in a Star Wars Movie

Wonderful, concise addition to the Star Wars story line. Well written, well acted, well choreographed, and amazing special effects. There is careful attention to detail to make it feel like a Star Wars movie, with just enough difference to let you know this one is special. Ties in wonderfully to the period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, while including bits from both the Clone Wars and Rebels TV shows as well. I liked this much more than The Force Awakens and because it doesn't take three movies to explain everything, it is arguably the best Star Wars movie, and that's saying a lot. So long as you're not holding out for Wookiees, Jawas, pod races, or an epic light saber battle (all of which we've seen already) this should deliver everything you'd want.

I only buy steelbooks, and this is one of the best I have ever bought. It not only gave us the dvd and blu ray, but it also included the 3d version and a very accessible digital download. The digital download was particularly nice as it did not use the ultraviolet system. It used a new system which allows you to download the movie on your platform of choice... itunes, amazon, google. Wow! This is the digital service we have been waiting for.

When I first heard about Rogue One, I was a little skeptic only because I had not seen Force Awakens yet and was unsure how Disney was going to handle the series that I had grown up loving. I was not disappointed with Force Awakens and waited anxiously for Rogue One to arrive. Disney did not disappoint. Rogue One is the closest bridge we have between Revenge of the Sith and Rebels to a New Hope, and it explains several plot points about a New Hope that did not make sense at the time. Rogue One will make you look and think about A New Hope in a different light, and answers many questions that until Rogue One was released had not been answered. I am looking forward to what Disney does with the Last Jedi and beyond and it puts hope in an old Star Wars fan like me.

    GREAT FOR STAR WARS FANS

I've enjoyed the Star Wars franchise for many many years and found this movie would be best for Star Wars fans rather than the casual Star Wars movie goer. It's mainly because there's a lot of backstory in this movie and some characters that are well known for Star Wars but not as well known as the more recent ones. It is a great story that leads up to the discovery of the Death Star and Princess Leia's role in it. The ending wasn't expected but necessary in a way although I'm sure there could have been some other way for them to escape. The battle scenes were decent and Chirut's character made it fun as did K2-SO. Overall, if you want more story and not as much action until the end then this movie is for you. It would be best for older kids 8 and up.
