This just might be the best Star Wars movie yet, in my opinion. It leans on and honors the other movies in the saga, especially Episode 4, and wouldn't be nearly as good if it didn't have classic material to make homage to. If it weren't for the other movies it wouldn't be as good as it is. But the other movies do exist, and in their context, I enjoy this entry in the collection a LOT.

Nice to have in 4K. The best of the Disney bunch!!

The first of the new series of Star Wars spin-offs (or “anthology” films), this standalone instalment sits between the last of George Lucas’s disappointing digital prequels Revenge of the Sith and his winningly physical original Star Wars. Fittingly, British director Gareth Edwards’s dark and moody space opera bridges the gap between the old-school 70s charm and ultra-modern 21st-century wizardry of this still evolving series. Despite using cutting-edge CGI to breathe uncanny artificial life into characters we never thought we’d see again, Rogue One feels like part of the same cinematic universe that gave us The Empire Strikes Back (1980) – the high-water mark to which all subsequent episodes aspire.

I'd like to give it 4 1/2 stars for "Very Good" but the rating system jumps from 4 for good to 5 for excellent. I thought it was better than just good, but maybe a bit short of excellent. Close call though. 3D is very important to me, and while I'm grateful to have the movie in 3D, I have to be honest and say the 3D conversion could have been stronger. Also there's no audio commentary. Still, overall, the movie was quite a lot of fun. Love K-2SO. Love the way the end dovetails right into Episode IV: A New Hope, the original Star Wars movie. And there was some good 3D, just not consistently throughout the whole thing. Definitely worth owning. I've watched it twice and look forward to watching it again.

Before watching this movie I had zero background into the characters or the story. I just knew it was how the death star plans were retrieved. Watching this movie definitely gives the 4th movie more depth because you see how important those plans really were. Good story telling. Blu-ray is great, 3D not so much (don't bother watching this version for your first time). Wish it was in 4K.

I would say that this is the only good star wars movie of the new ones. Maybe paired with solo but this one has a more serious tone because it has what happened before episode 4 and after episode 3 and that is in important piece of story in star wars movies.

I really enjoyed this movie. Great balance of action and humor. I got the Steelbook Edition with 3D. I don't know if it was shot in 3D, but it looked great on my one year old 65" Samsung. I waited too long to get into 3D and now it's going away. Typical for me, a late adopter, who waits to see if it'll catch on then wait for the price to come down. Still enjoyed the movie and the tv.

Does Rogue One have some plot holes? Sure. It is not Shakespeare, it is however a very entertaining movie that does a lot of work to bridge some of the gaps in the saga, and leaves one feeling like they have seen behind the curtain a bit to one of their favorite mythologies. And you finally get some Wars from Star Wars. And honestly, it is worth the money just for Vader on a tirade...

I went into this movie crossing my fingers that it was gonna be good and instead it ended up being great. i loved this movie, because it showed the setup for A New Hope. My complaint is that I wish it had more Darth Vader in it, because he was such a badass. Most of the characters were entertaining, as well as the script. Overall I loved this movie and recommend to any Star Wars fan.

The cult classic series of Star Wars continues to amaze us with another great film! I watched this movie in the theaters and loved it, it's not every day that you watch a film and have an ending like the one this film produced. Filling in the blanks on how the Deathstar plans were given to the rebellion was a great idea. Definitely recommend to anyone at any age to enjoy this movie!

The building of the original death star. The mission that exposed the weakness of the wonder weapon. Visit the remnants of the jedi holy city. (or whats left of it) this movie will hit some of your nostalgic childhood characters. I recommend it to any star wars fan. Just ignore all the planet jumping in the beginning. Wait for it. At the end. A mere sample of vaders power. Enjoy!

I love the Best Buy Steelbook cases, they just look sleek and have a nice quality about them. Rogue One is a great addition to the Star Ward series and it helps to answer some questions and fill in some gaps from the 3rd to the 4th movie. I hope this idea of these sort of mini movies continues between episodes 6 and 7 as well since there are a lot of things I'm sure could be covered.

A worthy continuation of the Star Wars franchise. Excellent special effects and a story line that weaves right into the very first Star Wars movie. Very well done. Unfortunately the main characters are more than likely not going to be returning for the next chapter of the ongoing story; so it will be interesting to see what the writers come up with next. I Highly recommend this movie.

Who writes a review for a Star Wars movie? This is truly indicative of the state of discussion about the generational divide. No one regardless of the generational label needs to read a review to know that they will buy this movie. Buy it. The only thing you need to know is they let Darth Vader be Darth Vader. Do not go to the bathroom in the last two minutes of the film.

I didn't have a chance to see "Rogue One" in the theatre, but this disc was worth the wait. The action sequences are superb and fans will love it!! Picture on the regular blu-ray disc is superb, but the 3d version is a little dark and doesn't have a lot of "pop' to it. Both discs have the same great audio, and your home theatre will definitely get a workout. Definitely recommended!!

When my daughter was young the only Star Wars she got to see in the theater was Return of the Jedi. When we got our first vcr, I borrowed the neighbor's and we all rented movies we'd like to have - I made a back to back cassette of the original Star Wars saga that made my daughter a lifelong fan. So as far as I can tell, as long as the movies aren't like the prequels they're amazing.

Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie since Empire and one could argue as good as that. Granted, it benefits from Lucas’s original story but creates a very convincing prequel to A New Hope. The ending gave me chills. Great acting. The Blu Ray does the movie justice. Probs gonna have to upgrade to 4K (sigh)

Great movie. But overpriced. Movies as such has to be watched on blue ray or 4k. I bought the blue ray. Not enough Donnie Yen! They should not have let him die. He's still young and the best action person EVER! Could have used him in a future Star Wars movie maybe as a council to the existing Jedi. Computer imaging of Peter Cushing and Carrie Fischer ok but instantly recognizable.

It is finally good between this and Star Wars: Rebels to have some of the blanks filled in between Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars (screw that episode four stuff, it's freaking Star Wars!).....the back story of our rogues works better on a second watch....but Darth Vader didn't make a lot of sense....he cracked a joke and made an AWFUL pun.....and James Earl Jones' voice didn't sound very good (you'd think they could have tweaked that).....and that whole badassery scene of Vader cutting down the Rebels while the plans escape on the Tantive IV, didn't make much sense when just a few weeks later he fights Obi-Wan in slow motion, the holes will annoy me but it's a pretty good movie aside of that!

From looking at the trailers, I wasn't sure if I wanted to purchase this movie in 3D. I'm glad I did. The special effects and the story was well written and really gives the back story for how the DeathStar came about. So whether you buy the 2D version, or 3D, you won't be disappointed, but for me, I like watching as many movies as possible in 3D, and this movie is best seen in 3D!
