I decided to upgrade my Roku 3 because of the 4K feature in the Roku 4. Everything worked as expected except for the wifi connection. Every time I woke up he Roku when I got home from work, the Roku was disconnected from my wifi. The other issue was the noise from the fan, at times it was very loud and I would think I left the kitche fan on, but then remembered that the roku4 has a fan. My Roku 3 does not have that problem, so I think it has to do with the Roku 4 hardware

I love all the features on this media player and it's clear and perfect ability to playback 4K UHD content! But you'll need a 4K TV that has an input that accepts HDCP 2.2 and a true HDMI 2.0 cable that is 4K.

I was using the internal apps on my TV for 4K content. I was never really happy with 4K. I read about Roku so I tried it. It upscales and has made me really enjoy my 4K TV now. What an improvement in picture!

Loved my Roku 3, like the Roku 4, hope it improves

I like the Roku 4 a lot, but am not quite as enamored with it as I was with my Roku 3. That said, the Roku 4 beats the Roku 3 all around for one simple reason: 4K content. The Roku 3 doesn't have it, the Roku 4 does. The Roku 4 has improvements in other areas, or tries to have improvements there, but in some ways the Roku 3 was better. Perhaps that is because of the maturity of the product and the amount of refining that had been done to that product (based on lessons learned with predecessor products). Regardless, the Roku 4 just seems to need a bit more refinement and improvement to get back to the level of the well refined Roku 3 series. The Roku 4 is great for those that have to have 4K content now. It offers such content from multiple sources (Netflix, Amazon, UltraFlix, and others), and of course still overs the wealth of channels that were offered on the Roku 3, so really you don't miss anything that you used to have, you instead add new benefits if you go with the Roku 4 over the 3. For some customers, those particularly without a Roku 3 in the house, and without a 4K TV to stream the content to, a Roku 3 would be highly recommended as it will save buyers a little in purchase price and offer an excellent experience to the buyer. If you have a 4K TV though, then seriously, get the Roku 4. It is good, not yet great, but it does improve with age and firmware updates that the developers keep pushing out as necessary.

Had a Roku 3 before, but gave it to my son. Decided to try out the 4 on my new TV and it was beautiful. Works great, it's fast, and it has what you would expect.

I purchased the Roku 4, so I could access Netflix and Apple TV, along with other sites, while only using one device. It pairs nicely with all my equipment and app.

I looked at all the latest 4k streaming players available and decided on this one. You can get every streaming service available and then some. Everything runs super smooth with no issues. It's also great that it has a 4k 10bit option for supported TV's. For this player just make sure your 4k TV is HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 compatibility.

Very good performer, uploads really fast., and the picture quality is very good. Easy to navigate and add Apps. Little tricky, at times, "reviving" it from dormant mode, (as i have it set on "energy saver")... Have not experienced "NOISE" issues, as some are reporting. Compact design. Best dedicated streaming media I've experienced.

    Poor customer service, product overheats

I had this product roughly 2 months. My first annoyance was minor, there is a setting that allows the device to turn off automatically. This seemed like a nice feature since the device would sometimes freeze after being idle. However, the remote has no power button, and my harmony 1 also knew of no button combination that could turn the device on. After 45 minutes of discussion with 'customer service', I was informed that I needed to do a hard reset to turn the device back on. Why have a feature to auto turn off a device that has no power button? The next issue I had was with a paid streaming service. The service in question was HBO now. I originally set up a trial using my Google account, but I renewed my service through my roku when I was prompted my trial had expired. Because of convenience I followed the process to renew. I was off to the races, the hbo was working on the roku, I was happy... or so I thought. Later that night I tried to cast my freshly registered, already paid for service to my chromcast, but much to my amazement, I was promoted to pay again. This wasn't right, as roku displayed a message that the service would work on the hbo app, which it did not. After 3 weeks of promises, emails, phone calls, sending copies of receipts, and so on... I gave up. I spent 3 weeks of a 4 week membership waiting for a resolution to this problem from both hbo and roku. Roku informed me they couldnt help and i needed to contact hbo to resolve the problem. Hbo had to coordinate efforts with roku, as roku didnt submit a proper request for renewal. Once roku responded to hbo about the problem, they said they couldn't help without a copy of my reciept, which I downloaded from their website. I'm still uncertain why they couldn't look it up, but after my dealings with roku customer service, I'm surprised they even know the name of their own company. Then, while I was waiting my 3 weeks to get asked to provide a copy of a reciept the company had available in its own records, the device started freezing and overheating on a consistent basis. I had enough hassle with this product, so I exchanged it for an NVIDIA shield. I am mostly content with its streaming services. The hbo now app that is available for it doesn't seem to support 60p, and Amazon Video isn't available for it. Outside if those 2 things, it is an amazing device.

I had to start with the best to cut the cord

I wanted the Apple TV but it did not have the power or the apps to support what I wanted. I'm still skeptical of the quality because my headphone jack from the remote quit working while watching a movie. I was past the 15 day return policy they had, but after fidgeting with it it came back on and has been working ever sense. I saved over $100 a month cutting the cord because I never watched 95% of the channels available. With the Roku 4 I still Will not watch 95% of the Of the shows and apps that are available, but I'm not paying for them either, just one of them. The sling app is the only one I'm paying for and that is still cheaper than cable. And with that I found that there is only one channel I can't get, and it's not worth $100 more a month just to have one more channel. Of course I had to buy a digital antenna with a booster that gives me a few channels that we always watch so that means it is a little more cumbersome changing channels but there again it's not worth the extra money for that convenience. It can only get better with the competition out there which means we may see even more and better apps and channels to come in the future, so I will wait for that to happen. I have no regrets cutting the cord but it took courage and I finally did it, so goodbye to all those other channels we had to pay for that we never watched. Stay thirsty I mean current my friend.

The Roku 4 works well, the headphone jack in the remote is a nice feature. My only complaint is regarding the limited number of channels available, admitted could be perception coming from Uverse.

Recently decided to "cut the cord" and purchased this Roku 4. My first one failed within a week with a bad fan. I returned it to best buy with no hassle and received another one in its place. I have been using the new roku daily with no issues. The unit is very fast, and there is tons of content available. We paired it up with SlingTV to get some live channels and its been an awesome experience. It plays local content from the USB drive with no issues.

Roku lets you watch plenty of the shows you would see on cable for way less money and with the channels and programs they are adding it's a good way to get away from those expensive cable bills.

The Roku 4 does a far better job at running the TV and online features than the manufacturer's remote. We have a daily problem with it overheating though. When it gets too hot it becomes non-operational, and I have to power it off before I can use it again. To avoid this I unplug it every night. There is considerable dialog about this on the Internet and they supposedly did a recall in previous versions but it still seems to be a problem with the Roku 4.
