NO fan noise, quiet fast a little warm, but definitely lives up to the hype !

I have had many media streaming devices over the last few years and all of them have had their issues. The last device I have had less than 6 months and this refused to stream my home movies smoothly from my desktop pc to my tv via Plex. It would stutter and hitch every 2 or 3 seconds, regardless of the fact that I was connected by ethernet and not wifi and made no difference if the stream was 720 or 1080. The Roku 4 has worked flawlessly and gives me everything I need, Youtube, Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon, and all my media on my PC. It is a little more expensive than the alternatives but having smooth 720 and 1080 streams is very important to me. This is a great box and hopefully one that I can keep for longer than 6 or 7 months. I have no complaints, except for their decision to place a stiff cloth label on the remote where it stick in to the palm of the hand every time you pick up the remote! Nothing a pair of scissors can't fix.

The Roku 4 is awesome. It has everything you need in a streaming devise. Having 4K, an optical output, and remote finder are some of my favorite options. I have had zero issues with this product and it runs smoothly.

It's a great Roku device but if you plan on using this new version for 4K make sure your TV has the newer HDCP 2.2 standard or it won't work. The Roku 4 does have much better performance than the Roku 3's did. Very happy with it.

I own three Roku 3's and now a Roku 4 as I purchased a Vizio 65" 4K UHD TV ------ I wanted to take advantage of the 4K from my TV, and the Roku 4 has done a nice job of segregating the 4K UHD content available ------- I read about some people having fan noise of some kind, but I can report to you that mine is whisper quiet!! It is very thin and streamlines, and I was actually able to place it under the legs of the TV instead of placing it in the cabinet ------- I "cut the cable" two years ago and went totally with streaming in addition to a outdoor antenna for local channels -------- outside of a few subscriptions to Sling TV and Netflix, I am saving a ton of money each month! Love the Roku boxes, and the new Roku 4 has lived up to all the hype!

As a frequent streamer of all my entertainment services, I expect quite a bit from my primary device. The Roku 4 delivers. Out of the box, it has more 4k content than my 4k tv and I'm sure that selection will only grow with time. While 4k is amazing, the upscaling on this unit(to take it from 1080 to near 4k) is absolutely incredible. It's a very noticeable difference immediately upon switching to this unit from any other media platform.

If you own a 4K TV, this is the best streamer for it. Our 4K TV supports 10 bit and you can pick this option in the Roku menu. The people that do not know about bit rate, the higher the bit rate the better the image is on your TV. iTv does not support 4K and I was looking at purchasing the Amazon Fire when I noticed that Roku came out with a 4K streamer. Roku is regarded highly in the A/V community. Had to get adjusted with the menu, since it is different then iTV. The remote reminds me of a kid's toy and what I've read they did not update remote. What's nice is that if you misplace your remote, you can find it with the remote finder.

The best streaming box out there. It is twice as fast as the roku 3.

The Roku 4 is an awesome device. It has so many channels to choose from, and downloads them super fast. I'm a fan of the Watch ESPN app, and on my other devices, it takes about 20-25 seconds to load. This Roku 4 takes about 5-10, which explains the quad-core processor. I was on the fence between the Fire TV 4K and the Roku 4, since it was cheaper. But after reading a couple reviews on some tech sites, I glad I paid the extra $30 for it. Wouldn't trade it for the world!

amazing buy i love it , i wast sure to buy this after reading some negative reviews, especialy about the noisy fan , but not noise at all can barely hear the fan with my head close to the roku 4 after a few hour watching movies on 1080 , so im pretty sure that if you have a noisy fan ,then you have broken roku 4 , the hd is amazing no downlaoading troubles at all while watching movies or series , better than my ps4 while using app like netflix ,you tube ,sling tv specially sling tv that why i get the roku because of the 50 dollar gift card from best buy when you pay for three month of sling tv , i did a research about the best streaming player you know like amazon fire , roku , google chromecast , nvidia shield this on diferent web pages like cnet .com and this was the best stream player with the most different apps available except apple tv of course i was gonna try the 3 months and then sell it but theres no way im selling this amazing stream player , the remote even better specially when you can use your own headphones and listening a movie with out botering any body else late night or early morning , i have to say ps4 you are gonna have a little vacation jeje plus a few apps with free movies no fees at all

Very good unit with visual improvements over past models . The Roku 4 does great as 4k , with improved visuals on HD/1080p . I also have 2 Roku 3's but use the Roku 4 for the more critical viewing . Although my "main" viewing is still a 1080P Plasma , the Roku 4 is a welcomed step up and a worthy successor (and does look fantastic when I tested it on my 43" 4K tv). Even though the Roku 4 is a great unit , it does have a flaw or two imo . The unit does have a fan installed to dissipate some internal heat , and a very small amount a noise may be heard from the unit depending on your environment and how you set the units fan speed settings (two available); but most of the time its near silent . Second con would be "possible" more frequent reboots (YMMV) compared to a Roku 3 ; and my guess is this too is from the more generated heat from the larger 4k processor . Although not a 100% perfect , I still would not give up my Roku 4 for anything else at the current time .

I highly recommend "cord cutters" read reviews on Sling TV app and its shortcomings first if you are buying this to Steam ESPN, AMC, etc... I bought this Roku 4, and then signed up for Sling TV... boy was I disappointed with the lack of rewind and pause feature with the Sling TV app, as well as the frequent time-outs of the Walking Dead on Sunday evening. (online reviews seem to be consistent) As far as Roku 4 fan noise.... Yes, It can be bothersome 1 hour into a movie. I hear it over the dialog. Quite a bummer.

I bought the Roku because we had cancelled our cable subscriptions and the chromecast we had just didn't have the same options the Roku did. So far, it's been great! Easy to use and set up, works like a charm every time

There really isn't much to say about this. It is as advertised: Beautifully made, easy to set up, streams flawlessly with excellent picture and sound quality, can be powered through a USB port on the back of the TV so the cord is easily hidden, and very good value. It's perfect!

This is my second Roku and so far I am very happy. This unit is much faster than my old Roku and is turning out to be easier to use. I like the new features of this device, especially the simplified search features.

I do not know what the fan noise others hear is, but I have not experienced that. it was a 1 minute hookup with a new 2.0 hd cord and everything looks amazing. even the screen saver is 4 hd nature scenes. beyond beautiful. you should purchase this regardless of if you have a smart tv. it is simply that much clearer and more vibrant.

Has the biggest selection of apps. Works flawlessly.

This made the process of cord cutting very easy for me and my wife. I am a bit more tech savvy than my wife and while I am fine switching from device to device to watch television, she wants it all in one device. Being able to stream all the services we use through one device has made it easy for her to keep up with her shows. The Roku 4 has made it easy to reduce the amount we pay for television and we haven't had any problems with it. One note through. She thinks the button layout on the remote could be better. The ok button being right under the directional buttons

STATE OF THE ART. I just buy Apple TV 4th about 3 months, yesterday try out Roku 4, It was surprised, make big different than apple, has more channels (Foxnews, CNN go, Sports, Cinemanow,.... ), better features, remote easy to use, ac wifi stream lightning fast, $40 cheaper than Apple TV.
