Works well for me.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having a Roku 3 for a number of years, I bought a Roku 4 for it's UHD capabilities. It works well with my Samsung UHD TV. It took some time with the manual to determine which HDMI port on the TV supported HDCP 2.2. It all works well and I have not had any fan noise issues.

Not the player you need, but the one you deserve
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As streaming players go, the Roku 4 is pure overkill in every way I can think of. Because of its specs, it doesn't chew through your channels/apps, it swallows them whole. And because it is a Roku it has an endless buffet of viewing options for you to feed it. The only thing you won't find is Apple based content, but you're not going to find that on Fire TV either. Also, 4K itself is overkill right now, and if you don't have a 4K set or plan to get one anytime soon then go with the Roku 3. If you have even an inkling of going 4K though then go ahead and plunk down the extra $30. Even if you never do upgrade your TV you still won't be disappointed.

WORKS GREAT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these for the guest bedrooms. I was paying for a cable box each month when no one was using them. I heard and read about the Roku 4 and so far love it. I get lots of channels without paying for cable.

Best System for TWC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So easy to install. Frist creating Roku account just like iTunes account, install the unit, download TWC app (only if you are twc cable subscriber), my second tv is able to show all of the channels from TWC and more since Roku has more free channels (apps) to offer. I read that many Roku 4 has noise issue and I will keep my eyes for it. For those who has second tv and does not want to pay for another twc box, this is the best way to go. It is very user friendly. There is no need to use other devices to control the tv other than a remote control.

Tech Support Is A Nightmare!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I normally avoid getting the protection plan on electronics under $200, but had I known that Roku's tech support was so bad, I would have purchased it just to avoid dealing with them. This Roku 4 turns off on its own (turn off is disabled), the remote quits working (will not wake Roku 4 up), runs very hot. The only way I can use Roku 4 is to unplug the unit's power cable, which reboots it. My Roku 3 has worked like a charm for over 2 years!

good but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the roku 4 I just wish there was more channel selection. I would like to see fox sports, abc, amc, cw to be added before I consider this to be a great purchase. The watch espn app sucks and needs to be updated. Still a decent buy.

Good for what it does
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROKU 4K is an exceptional device for streaming media. I have one of the original 4K TV’s (Samsung) and though Samsung Support stated the TV HDMI was the correct type the ROKU does not see it as being 4K compatible. I suspect newer 4K TV’s will not have this issue. Still, even given that, there is a ton of content to watch. Almost too much to choose from at times. The one issue I have with the device, and the reason for the 4 star rating is that it does not have an off/on button on the remote. If the device sits long enough without being used it will not turn on by pushing any button on the controller. You have to unplug the device and plug it back in for it to turn on again. It is not a major deal if the device is easily accessible (as mine is) but I can see where it might be an issue for some people you keep their entertainment equipment tucked away. One other issue I have run into is using the audio headset off the remote. There have been a couple of times where the audio become choppy. To fix it I had to unplug the headset from the remote controller and wait a minute or two before plugging them back in. Again, not a major issue as it does not happen all the time but I can see where some might find it annoying.

Works great, then it doesn't
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it's worked fine. I use it for sling tv and watch ESPN. It has frozen a few times and had to have had the power cord removed and restarted. I'd recommend still though

Extremely Noisy Fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has extremely noisy fan that never turns off. Even when you are not watching tv or trying to sleep, the fan is on always, and its loud. I would not recommend this. I have 4 Roku3's in my home, and love them. Skip this model until they do something different.

Unstable, with too many issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not sure if these issues are hardware or software related, but it makes it extremely horrible to use. I've only had the unit for 4 days, and the problems have existed since I got it. 1. Constantly reboots or crashes out of channels. Haven't been able to watch a single complete 1 hour video without it crashing out of the channel or rebooting the unit anywhere between 5-30 minutes after starting. 2. Frequently freezes when trying to wake the unit up from standby mode. Sometimes it will self-reboot, but never boot into the Home screen. I would have to unplug it, wait for a minute, and plug it in again. 3. Dobly Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS does not work with the Netflix application. 4. Roku customer support has not been able to find a resolution for these issues, and instead tries to blame my ISP (all other non-Roku devices work on my network). A media streaming device shouldn't be this difficult to use. They so far refuse to acknowledge it's a defective unit. If that's the case, then all Roku 4's will have the same issue.

BETTER THAN OTHERS BUT STILL WITH ISSUES
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third ROKU. There are some wonderful positive aspects to the ROKU 4. There are also some very weak features as well. PROS: Quad core processor is ultra fast. Available channels are excellent. Remote is very good. Navigation around the system is easy to learn and simple. CONS: No ON/OFF switch on unit or remote. Always is running. Runs VERY HOT. 4K HDCP 2.2 is not responsive to my new 4K Sony HDCP 2.2. 1080P at best when streamed (4K streaming is now available on VUDU). Channels/apps ONLY run on the Roku so if you've bought a subscription say to HBO or Showtime; you can only access it via the Roku. Still a very good choice but certainly not excellent.

Nice Streaming Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We officially cut the cord and tried this as well as the Amazon Fire TV device...This was simple to setup and streamed very well. My only complaint (more of my wife's) was that it doesn't display a guide when using Playstation Vue...so we ended up returning this for the Amazon device.

Stick to the Roku 3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've been a Roku family now for five years and have had very positive experiences. We upgraded to a 4K TV and were excited to purchase the Roku 4 for it's screen capabilities. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. We currently have two Roku 2s and a Roku 3, all which work flawlessly, albeit a slight lag on Sling from the Roku 2s. This Roku 4 has been a nightmare. Sling doesn't work. Vudu works 50% of the time. Even Netflix is no longer stable on it. Our kids will be in another room watching any of these channels on the Roku 3 with no issues, the Roku 4 is a mess. Really disappointed in this device and Roku for releasing it, especially as their most costly model. We will be taking it back and exchanging for a Roku 3. While the 4K picture was certainly crisp, the inability to stream on a consistent basis makes it impossible to enjoy. Would rate it less than one star if possible.

Roku 4 UHD Ready
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded my Roku 3 to the Roku 4 to take advantage of my new 4K TV. It works very well, had good 4K content ( better than my Smart TV built in Apps)

Disappointed. Problems with Amazon and Sling TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointing. The ROKU 4 works poorly with Sling TV because of technical problems with data flow control; the picture degrades as the bit stream slows and wavers and frequently just freezes. Also the optical audio out port on the ROKU 4 will NOT put out DOLBY 5.1 from Amazon. (Fortunately my TIVO Roamio OTA does so I use that for Amazon streaming.) If these channels matter to you, I suggest getting something else.
