what you expect with Roku now in 4K

Anything I can do to get one step closer to firing my cable provider I will do. I'm sure most feel that way. There's a reason why Roku consistently finishes top of the list when professional gadget gurus do their reviews. It's the best entertainment streaming device on the market. That's saying a lot when they're going up against the minds behind Apple. I've messed with every other similar device and the Roku is the easiest to navigate. The headphones that connect to the remote are a nice extra (I'm hard of hearing thanks to loud things going bang around me my whole life) and the 4K capability is nice to have even if other media supplying outlets haven't yet made it their priority. Super easy setup. Sleek and visually appealing on or in any entertainment center area.

I own 3 Rokus and I love them. Easy to use. Nice earbuds. Especially love the ability to listen to a show using headphone jack on the remote. Love the capabilities of the Roku so much that I purchased the Roku 4 as a gift.

Tried of the Apple TV get a Roku-4. Don’t currently have a 4K TV, so I can’t speak to anything regarding that. The Roku-4 looks great on my 1080 TV. My previous, and only, streaming box was a Apple TV. My primary reasons for getting one was for TWC TV. To a lesser extent, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, HBO, USB Drive, n micro sd. I was told about this product on Super Bowl Sunday by representatives at Best Buy who also used Roku themselves. It's a great way to stream tv without the monthly cost of cable. Even Netflix reception is much better. With it, I was able to watch the game on my 4k tv at home and the picture was great!!!

    Great upgrade for older Rokus

I went from a older Roku 2XS, back when they came with angry birds. That was showing it's age, as it would sometimes buffer some higher quality HD videos. This was a great upgrade, the only thing I would change is the ability to reprogram the Rdio button. As the service is closing down. But a that is a very small thing to having the ability to switch between profiles on Netflix. Something I was not able to do on my older Roku. I don't stream 4K now, but the fact that I can makes the extra I paid over a Roku3 that much better. If you have a older Roku, the upgrade is so worth it, but remember this one is also HDMI only.

Easy ro use and install. Sometimes little slow and limited app availability. Not sure if superior to and latest smart tv capabities. Is solid device with support of mainstream services like Hulu HBO Netflix etc...

When used with a 4k tv, the picture is outstanding! Several firmware updates have addressed some initial problems. Not sure I'd upgrade without the 4K tv though, the Roku 3 was more than adequate to the task there.

I have owned a Roku 2hd, and a Roku 3 but the Roku 4 by far is the best, I havent had any of the issues I previously had with the Roku 3 and the picture quality is great.

It is definitely faster than the Roku 3 and more receptive to my Harmony Remote but still has a problem with communicating with the Roku servers causing some delays.

I like the 4K and the updated interface that the Roku 3 had. Have not been able to get the Anynet+ to work with the Samsung TV so I get an annoying message that I have to use the TV remote to get rid of.

So far I've used the Roku 2, 3, and now 4. I've recommended Roku to just about every family member and friend I have, but this is the first unit I'd have to say is only for a niche user. Specifically - those who have 4K netflix streaming and the internet + LAN speeds to back it up. Compared to the 3, for 1080p content there is no reason to upgrade. The Roku 4 in all aspects outside of the ability to stream 4K content is pretty much identical to the Roku 3...except for one major difference. IT RUNS EXTREMELY HOT! This unit should not be placed near your TV, or any other sensitive electronics for that matter. It gets incredibly hot, especially when playing 4K content. As for 4K performance, it's excellent, netflix 4K streaming runs flawlessly, although I did initially find some strange glitches that were likely attributed to using an old HDMI cable. Although theoretically the old HDMI standard can carry 4K resolution up to 30fps, it's basically saturating the bandwidth and I did find some occasional hiccups. Switching to an HDMI 2.0 standard seemed to fix that, and they're really not more expensive than the old HDMI cables (I bought a ton on Amazon for a fraction of the price of Best Buy's cables) Overall, if you have 4K netflix or another 4K compatible Roku streaming service, the Roku 4 does a wonderful job, as long as you can keep it in a well ventilated space so it can cool.

moving from the ROKU stick to the 4k streaming media player went well except that I needed to purchase an additional HDMI cable to use it. The other down side is that there is a very limited number of 4K streaming media available to view. The player works great for streaming what amounts to You Tube videos and movies that I am not interested in viewing on channels that need subscriptions. But the picture is great. The ear buds that came with the unit only works in mono, as only one of the channels play.....I guess it came broken or it does not play stereo....not sure.

I've bought 5 different Roku's now. Two of the Roku 2s, 1 - Roku 3, 1 of the Roku sticks (for TVs) and now the Roku 4 HD. This one didn't use a memory card like the others and actually let me select the faster speed on my router rather than using the default. Installation was quick and painless. This Roku is larger than the others - more flat and square. I've noticed that other reviews complained about the fan noise but that has not been my experience to date; I will say, however, that this Roku runs "hotter" than the others and I hope it doesn't burn out. Almost gave 4 instead of 5 stars (because of the high heat), but it really is a good Roku and I'm glad I bought it.

So I have owned three generations of the Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Playstation 2, Roku TV and now Roku 4 streaming device. A year ago I bought a 65" Seiki 4K TV, and I have been waiting for an opportunity to try 4K content, hence the Roku 4 purchase. So there is a gotcha involved. Apparently, most 4K streaming devices require a 4K display that has HDMI 2.2 inputs. The Seiki TV appears to have HDMI 1.x inputs. So no 4K yet in this home. Your mileage may vary. Perhaps the most annoying thing about streaming devices and smart TV's is navigating their menus. Roku's speech does search across sources which is a plus, but there is still some room for growth here.

Works well with my 4k tv. Only con is when turning off, you have to navigate the menu. Small annoyance, but functions well and good for external media if you install roku media player.
