Outstanding!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Vizeo smart TV, but it does not have Sling TV, which I have been wanting to try, as I use a antenna for local stations and get Netflix with the TV through wi-fi. I had a Roku several years ago (before my smart TV) and it would freeze up and need to be reset pretty regularly until it gave up the ghost. And I wasn't sure what to expect with this Roku Express. Especially at a price under 30 dollars. To my surprise, this Roku Express works great and functions flawlessly! I was so impressed that I went back and bought another one for my daughter.

Glad I purchased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was undecided between upgrading my blu ray player or Tv but then remembered about the Roku devices and decided to give the Express a try. Glad I did. I was frustrated at first because it didn't turn off and did want it to keep running but remembered the directions said it can be plugged in to the tv USB port and I did and now it turns on when I turn on tv. It can be a little slow sometimes but not slow enough to bother me. I am pleased with my decision to get this device.

Ok for a second tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only had it for a few hours. Here's what I found so far. It's important that you use the HDMI cable provided as I was getting flickering in 1080p using my own cable. My previous Roku was the Roku HD. Pretty old and and used the old Netflix interface. The express is much faster and uses the new Netflix interface. I tried the new Roku streaming stick and it is super fast. However it wouldn't play nice with my harmony hub so I really needed one with IR. In general, the interface is half the speed of the streaming stick. Actually it's fast enough with the main interface but in the new Netflix app, it's sluggish. Hopefully they can speed it up in future updates. Other apps work fine. I'd be ok in using this for a second TV but not for my main streaming box. All in all I prefer the Amazon fire stick. The original fire stick is faster than this one and I'm holding out for the updated fire stick later this month. There are a couple of reviews out there on CNET and another site. I'll say this, it's not as bad as they make it out to be. You get your$29 worth. Take that however you want to. But spend the extra $20 and get the streaming stick.

Compliments my XBOX 360
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought another one of these to compliment my XBOX 360. I used to use my XBOX 360 for not only gaming but also streaming apps. Unfortunately, many of the streaming apps on my XBOX 360 will never receive an update again and publishers such as iHeart Radio and others have updated their apps. So I bought an extra one of these to sit next to my Dynex 15' LED Television and it works great without any issues. I was able to connect the device without an AC Adapter by using the USB port on the TV and save myself a plug in the wall. If you want to connect it traditionally doing that, it contains an adapter to do so but you may find both the include USB Cable and HDMI cable short, but the good news is that the HDMI cable is a standard cable and the USB plug is USB to Mini USB so it's all good to use your own cables. This device is rather speedy than my Roku 1, nowhere is it slow and sluggish like other reviews have mentioned elsewhere. If you don't have a credit card, there is a link you can Google as a backdoor to set the device up without one. Well worth the price for $30 considering my primary use for it is iHeart Radio and free movie apps like Crackle and Tubi TV.

Great Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was overdue in upgrading my Roku device from one of the original boxes and the Roku Express does not disappoint. The speed is great and the features available are better than expect. I love the compact size and the ability for the Roku Express to use the TV as its power source instead of running another cord to a power outlet.

Very neat!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A coworker convinced me to purchase Netflix and I did so without checking my flat screens. Neither were Smart and my Blu-ray was Smart but not Wi-Fi compatible. So, I decided to buy a third TV (Smart) but went into Best Buy first to see if they had 'dongles' and they did not. The salesperson recommended the Roku Express (he also helped me pick out a 50" LED Smart TV). This device, which I only learned was voice remote when coming to review, is pretty nifty. I have nothing to compare it to but it works very great for Netflix and the Crackle app is very cool. Like someone else said it has a ton of apps but it would have to when it advertises 350,000 shows and movies available. I would have given it 5 stars but like another reviewer said, you cannot turn it off so when you return to it from watching cable the Roku graphic is bouncing around the TV like in screensaver mode. Doesn't appear to really 'sleep'. In addition, I am a little annoyed with having to switch between HDMI 1 and 2. This requires me to hold tight to three remotes (TV, Comcast, Roku) and that's just too much on my bed haha. It also makes me lazy, I will desire cable or Roku but just not feel like toggling HDMI channels. Overall, I am glad I purchased it. Can't wait to go home and test voice search on the remote.

Best Streaming Device for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking to replace my first-gen Chromecast when the Roku Express was released. After reading a few online reviews, I had a few reservations, but was seduced by the $30 price tag. I'm so glad I took the leap and bought this little streamer. The navigation isn't as lightening fast as a $100 box, but it will be more than fast enough for most people. The apps load fine, but once again, may be a tad slower to load than a more expensive unit. The one other minor drawback is that the remote is IR, so you must aim the remote at the unit. The real test is video quality, and the Express streams with no image degradation or stuttering. You just can't find a better streaming experience for this price. For $30 you get the Roku interface and channel selection and a real remote (no being stuck with your phone!).

good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this along with a new tv for my mom last wednesday. It works great much better than the old roku and old as in the remote had "blockbuster" key on it. Great purchase. Comes along with an HDMI cable. Happy with the purchase. Sometimes the picture freezes but it happened only twice so far.

My 2nd Roku
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking to cut back on my cable bill for a while. I did lots of research and question asking of friends who used alternative methods, after "cutting the cable". It seemed to me that ROKU had the most to offer for me, and so I bought myself one as a Christmas gift. I was very pleased with it. I went down to the basic cable package (have to keep at least that to keep our unlimited data on the cell phones)..and just have one cable box for the living room. I didn't think about the bedroom TV, or the potential guestroom TV not getting service, since I turned in those boxes, too. SO I bought this ROKU for my bedroom. If/when a 3rd TV finds its way back into the house for the guest bedroom, then I'll get a 3rd one. I am thrilled to see the difference in my cable bill now! Roku has more than paid for itself already!

The best deal for streaming!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for an Amazon Fire TV stick and as usual, it was sold out. Then I saw this mighty little object on the shelf for around $30. Best 30 bucks I ever spent. I got it mostly for Sling TV but I have the usual standard apps as well (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, etc), it's small so it won't take up most space (you can literally put it on your TV, an adhesive strip comes in the package) and it works well with a strong internet connection. I really have no complaints other than the random bluescreen not showing anything. But that's nothing rebooting the player can't fix. If you can't find a Fire TV stick (good luck btw, still looking myself) do yourself a favor and save yourself 10 bucks and a headache and get this!
