We thought we would start with one Roku. Now, every TV in the house has the Roku or is a ROKU TV. We have a cable box I use to old my wife's cold coffee. Love the ROKU. It's fast, no streaming issues; highly recommend if you want to get rid of cable.

My wife and I wanted to be able to stream Netflix and home media in our bedroom. After researching reviews, I decided to get the Roku Stick. I was pleased to find out that there was a newer faster version available, and the low price was a big plus. Best Buy was great, free shipping had it to my door in 2 days. However, once I got it unboxed and plugged in, that’s where the trouble began. It fit into the back of my LG TV without any issues, and powered right up via the USB port on the TV. Wifi setup was painless. I was presented with an activation code and instructions to set up a Roku account online……no problem…….I thought. Roku requires a credit card to set up an account, which I wasn’t too comfortable with and found unnecessary being that we already had a Netflix account that we had planned on using the stick for. Apparently from what I found online, you used to be able to skip this step, however now the only option is to call. Finally my wife and I decided to proceed with the credit card and set up the account. Once the Roku stick restarted and began downloading the apps things got really frustrating. Almost an hour of lockups and forced restarts. The remote stopped working 3 times and required resyncing during this period. Finally we were able to open the Netflix App and were only able to stream at the lowest quality – 244. We tried multiple shows and movies over the course of the next half hour and nothing would stream at a viewable quality. We also tried the PBS app and it would start and stop every 20 seconds. Also, the Roku menu kept indicating that the Wifi connection was disconnecting randomly even though other devices in the same room (Android Phone and Ipad) all showed full wifi signal. Now, we do have an older NetGear N router, and our DSL internet caps out at 4mbps being that we live in a rural area, however, any other device we stream with in the house gets at least 720P quality with Netflix…….even the Playstation3 in the basement! I even tried using the supplied power adapter rather than the USB port on the TV thinking it might be a power issue. So, the final test was to stream off of an Xbox 360 over wifi in the same room, right next to the Roku stick……..the 360 worked perfectly. So in summary there is a possibility that the Roku stick we received was defective, and there is also a possibility that it is incompatible with our router for some reason, but being that the closest BestBuy store is an hour away we decided to return it and continue our search for a streaming solution. For now, the Xbox 360 is fitting that need.

The stick that I purchased might have been defective, but it detected wireless signals maybe one out of every five resets, and once that got set up, it couldn't keep it reliably, whether to the home router about 5 feet away or to a phone hotspot 8 inches away. Also, it can get hot enough that you don't want any of the metal parts(HDMI connector) to touch your skin more than a few seconds. Only noticed this because I moved it to another TV to try to successfully configure it. The last little annoyance is that you are required to enter a credit card to create the Roku account to activate the stick. Not a deal breaker, but only purchased it to be able to stream Netflix to a non-Smart TV.

The system works great. I use it as a streaming system for a secondary tv in the bedroom. However my biggest annoyance with the product is the remote is terrible. On day 1 when I set up roku the remote paired with the system. After about 10-15 minutes of using roku the remote would frequently lose its pairing. I tried everything from replacing the batteries, repairing, resetting up with system and it would still lose its pairing with the system. The only reason I have kept roku is because it has a mobile app for smart phones that has a remote feature. They need to improve their remote before I would buy a product from them in the future.

I bought this for my parents and it has not disappointed! I have the Roku 3 and if I didn't, I would have bought this for myself! Extremely fast loading, no streaming issues, no problem with adding content.

My husband and I decided to try Roku based on a co-worker experience and we are loving it so far. We enjoyed watching Netflix with this. Perfect for us!

Dual band wifi, intuitive user interface, remote, and low price make this one of the best electronic purchases you can make! If you're contemplating purchasing a streaming device, this is a great choice.

I purchased this to replace my older Roku that was probably about 7 years old. It was crawling and the apps were constantly closing in the middle of shows. To my disappointment, this one does not work much better. I don't know how many times I have been in the middle of a show and it randomly went back to the Roku home screen. The remote also locks up almost daily. I have to take a battery out for a few seconds to get it to work again. Between these issues and the fact that Spotify now has limited functionality, I feel like this was a waste of money. My Amazon Fire Stick hooked up to a different TV works so much better.

I like my Roku streaming stick. I bought it to be able to watch sling tv because my Apple tv4 does not have a dedicated app. It does a decent job but you have to use the provided power cable in order to use it's remote.

I cut the cord 3 years ago and have never looked back. I already own the Roku 2 and the Roku streaming stick is a better option for my hanging tv (no cords).

The content that you can stream with this tiny little stick is amazing. I should have purchased it sooner.

This little stick works so good just can't put it into words. Make sure your Wi-Fi router puts out 5.0 ghz signal and you will never go back to cable!

By far the best streaming there is, it really isn't even close. Roku also utilizes the most user friendly interface with their streaming devices.

I love my Roku stick. Love that o can watch TV and not have to pay for cable. It turned my tv into s smart tv and have a bunch of tv apps on it

Purchased this for the family to have on occasions when we travel and want to have access to some of our preferred entertainment. Love it!

Recommend over chromecast or Amazon fire. Has the most channel offerings and having a remote is more convenient than the chromecast.

Easy to hookup and works really nicely. Great for Tvs where you don't have a lot of space for a full roku or streaming device.

I purchased the ruku streaming stick, because I wanted to leave the cable box behind. There are many channels, but many require a purchase.. There are a lot of free channels, though.

I have two Roku + and I just Purchase the Roku Stick for traveling, It is fantastic, I love it, definitely worth the money.

I found a channel with cartoons that I grew up with. I got this to watch stream Netflix. Alot of random amateur channels too.
