I cut the cable years ago but only recently discovered Roku. I also have a Netflix account. The ability to stream Netflix & YouTube on the TV is alone well worth the $40 bones I dropped for this, in addition to the thousands of other channels that are accessible. I highly recommend this powerful little device.

Makes my smart tv look stupid

Easy to set up and with intuitive controls, the Roku streaming stick allows me to connect with such a wide variety of apps that I truly do not miss cable at all. The plus side is that I can download the Roku app onto my smart phone and use the phone as a remote. I am very glad I made this purchase.

I also have the older AppleTV unit. The Roku doesn't have access to iTunes, but it does have Amazon. The service menu is highly configurable, which means that the interface is completely calibrated to my needs and interests. Streaming quality has been excellent. This is probably the device for any serious cord-cutter.

Enjoying using Roku

The main reason for purchasing it was to watch YouTube videos on TV, but it has also been nice to use for other streaming services. It's very easy to set up and use. Eventually we'd like to get rid of having Dish Network, so having the Roku would be a nice alternative for watching programs.

Roku 1 Replacement

I also enjoy the fact that it has the updated Netflix app as opposed to the old one that did not support user profiles. I also like the fact that I can stream the audio to my phone and plug in headphones. This makes it easier to watch TV and keep things quiet for other people.
