This is the third Roku device I’ve purchased and this is the first one to require too much information to activate and use. I have enjoyed using previous versions.

To bypass adding a payment method during Roku setup, you need to navigate to the payment information screen and look for a small, often easily missed, option to "Skip, I'll add later" or similar wording. This option allows you to create a Roku account without immediately linking a credit card or PayPal. You can then complete the rest of the setup process without providing payment information. There’s a bunch of free channels and plethora of apps to discover. Less add and it even has it’s own channel guide.
