Picked up this as a Chromecast alternative and I will say that I'm very happy with it versus what you get with the Chromecast. I've had various media streaming boxes/sticks over the years (including the original Roku) and always found a fault with each device. Usually, it did not offer something that others did (local streaming, big-name apps like HBO Plus or Amazon Prime). After Roku picked up a Google Play channel, I decided to give their alternative to the Chromecast a shot. Love: - It has a remote. Versus the Chromecast, I find it so much easier and convenient than picking up my phone, unlocking it, hoping the app I'm streaming from doesn't crash (reopen if it does), wait for it to connect back to the Chromecast, play/pause/etc. the stream. With a remote it's pick up, press button. - Every single channel I could possibly want, plus tons I don't want. - Nice UI, if a bit clunky. - Searching for a program to watch is excellent. It will tell me what services have the program, and whether or not there's a cost involved. Hate: - UI is a bit clunky, as I mentioned above, but it's fairly slow on the Roku stick. Some apps are better than others, but sometimes it takes a while to respond. Not a deal breaker though. - While I like the remote versus using a phone/tablet, some of the button placements don't make sense. Overall, a very nice little streaming stick at a pretty good price

This is not the best one but it worth the money. I bought it initially to use only one App that is incompatible with my Amazon fire stick, but it runs so smoothly that I end up using it more often than the other one. Besides there are stuff in there that I could'nt find on Amazon stick that I get from ROKU. I would definitely recommend that product to a friend.

extremely user friendly & easy to set up. just plug in & follow the promps. I purchased to use for Netflix. But it has all kinds of other streaming apps, etc. You can even add your own stuff, i.e. photos, videos, etc. purchased the entry level Roku stick. works great. no problems. And it is no hassle to unplug & plug it into another tv--whether at home or friend's house. Even bought one for relative for xmas.

Was excited at the prospect of a convenient device to stream Netflix, and the added bonus of not having to purchase an HDMI cable, and the beauty of not having wires and cables running down the wall. I bought the Roku stick and, although I was aware from reading reviews, that it takes a little longer for the Roku stick to load movies/shows, we found there was much lagging here. But since I was already aware of it, I accepted that. The real problem was the remote. It was unresponsive, so I replaced the batteries, and still no good. I googled for answers and followed suggestions to disconnect stick from the tv, remove batteries from remote, reconnect, etc. This is bothersome when all you want to do is watch the next episode of Sons of Anarchy! I downloaded the Roku app onto my iPhone and started using it as the remote. A lot of hassle, was still having issues. I returned the stick and bought the Roku 2 and an HDMI cable. Although you see the cable now, it's been really great, responsive and trouble free.

I purchased this item for second tv set. For my primary I used the more expensive roku and that would be my recommendation. The remote had some pairing issues and trouble connecting to the wifi initially. There are plenty of forums for FAQs with the device so those things were quickly sorted out. I added hulu and netflix, canceled TWC and haven't looked back. Its a great Dave Ramsey solution to the high cable bill.

It works well on my new TV. Just hook up and roll within minutes. Been working very well.

Set up and programming was pretty straight forword. Once you get it going it works great!

I have a Roko 3 in addition to this Roku stick. The only real difference is the stick is a bit slower. Well, you aren't able to play games like the Roku 3, but who cares? The games suck anyway. As an actual media player this thing is great. With Netflix, HBOgo, and Plex I don't need anything else.

The Roku stick is small and plugs into the HDMI port behind your TV. The remote works great and the best part is the ability to use your smartphone or IPad as a full keyboard to search or use as a remote. You can even send photos or watch live streaming from your IPad, phone, etc. on your TV through the Roku. Lots of choices some free and most paid. There is still plenty to watch if you want to "cut the cord"

Bought this to stream Netflix, Hulu, Vudu etc. Works great! I previously had a Roku account so setup was a breeze. I also discovered that I can also stream form my tablet and smartphone just like Chromecast. Absolutely love this, there also is a Roku app at the Google Play Store so you can use your tablet or phone as a remote.
