I absolutely loved the idea of a Roku Stick and was excited to buy one for my home theater. However, there were problems. First, you must use the remote that comes with the Roku because it works on Wi-Fi, not IR. That means you can't program a Harmony or other universal remote to control the Roku. Second, it responds much slower to menu commands than other Rokus, and it takes a very long time to launch certain applications. Third, it has locked up several times and had to be reset to factory specifications, even though I'm only running standard apps like Netflix and Hulu. Finally, it doesn't hold up to abuse very well. I had the stick plugged into the back of my A/V receiver on the bottom shelf of my entertainment center. We have two puppies that got behind the receiver and became tangled in wires. It didn't appear they had done much damage, but the Roku Stick has little tolerance for being pulled on and the HDMI connector broke. Now my poor little Roku is dead. I'll replace it with the faster, more user-friendly Roku 3.

the item is good for netflix and hulu but not recommended to watch videos from websites not enough apps

This is the 2nd one of these I have. Also have the Amazon Fire Stick, Google Chromecast and a Samsung Smart Hub tv. Roku is by far my favorite. The remote quick working on the first one, but we just use the app on our phones. The 2nd one is working fine so far.

Pretty decent device. My only concern is that I wasn't aware that I needed to already have subscriptions to other streaming services to use to get more bang for my buck with the Roku. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. But still a good device.

Works fine but sometime remote stuck..............

Nowhere is it pictured that this stick requires it to be plugged into a power source. Our television is placed too far away (on a wall) for the short power cord to reach. Should specify that it need a power source.

Very pleased with it. I haven't subscribed to any of the paid services, including Disney +, but may down the road. Even with just the free services, it offers a myriad of choices. Don't miss cable a bit!

Directions are clear making it very easy to install. So far the streaming has been flawless. Really like the Roku App for my Android cell phone (and iPad); never have to get my lazy self back up to grab the physical remote control. After a trial run, I bought one for my 85 year old parents who are able to navigate Roku without me (yay!).

The best and affordable way to access Netflix, Amazon, Hulu+, HBO Go,...on your TV. I was considering the Chromecast but I prefer to have a physical remote that I can navigate by feel rather than having to look at a touch screen. Although the Roku app also works as a remote too and makes searching easier by using your phones keyboard.

Having used both AppleTV and Chromecast, the Roku streaming stick was a natural addition to the "find the perfect device" list. I have a Plex media server, Netflix and Amazon Prime, all of which the Roku stick supports. Setup was a breeze and I was up and running in minutes. The longest part of the setup was waiting on the device to boot. The UI is a little cumbersome so for things like YouTube I tried using my computer and iPhone but found that after the first video or so it would often not play the next one and I would have to exit and relaunch. I love all of the apps it integrates but ultimately went back to my Chromecast because of how stable it was. If you are just using it for Netflix and the like it should be a fine addition but until they speed up the responsiveness I would hold out.

I stopped shopping at Best Buy years ago due to what I felt was poor customer service. I once again tried in 2015 and purchased a TV, sound bar and Roku. I ended up exchanging the sound bar and the Roku because neither one worked. Additionally, I ended up making a second trip because Best Buy would not exchange the product unless I had with me a valid ID. I simply wanted an even exchange and see no reason that I should present a valid ID in addition to my receipt! I was greeted with a very defensive manager who made no apology for my return and told me that I was taking issue with the product Best Buy sells and NOT Best Buy. I beg to differ. I bought this to watch sunday ticket at my house and it worked once and then stopped working completely. I took it back to the best buy store and they would not take it without a receipt saying I was not an elite member and that was the only way they could exchange it. I didn't even want my money back just a new one. Product was horrible and service was horrible. Haven't been back to best buy since and I shopped there a lot.

Great idea. Too bad it doesn't work. It takes forever to load viewing options, and when it finally displays them, it won't stream them because it keeps losing wifi. Meanwhile, my Xbox, iPad, etc., have no problems staying connected. When l was able to watch a show on HBO, it kept freezing and buffering. Finally got sick of that after it took 20 minutes to get through opening credits. Heading back to BestBuy after dinner to get rid of this useless device.

The streaming stick works GREAT, the only reason this review only earned 4 stars is that the remote seems to get out of sync frequently. I think it would be worth the extra money to get the Roku4 with the upgraded remote.

Hands down best device of its kind at such a great value. Much more content available on Streaming Stick than I've seen on similar devices. Remote is also a big plus.

I bought this for a lesser used TV in our house after having success with the Roku2. This one kept sticking, and I had to reset it. Then again. Then AGAIN. I took it back to BB for an exchange. I tried the new one on a different TV (to make sure it wasn't the fault of the TV it was intended for), but the new one was also problematic. Very disappointing considering how much we liked the Roku2.
